I was taken there against my will. There for 52 hours. I've never been more terrified and traumatized in my entire life. About 8 women fought every few hours, very loudly. It is a violent place. They never even gave me ANY of the 10 meds I take, including one for my heart and a seizure medication and 3 different blood pressure medications. I was taken there because I had a nervous breakdown and threatened to harm myself, which I would NEVER actually do because of what it would do to my family and I could not devastate my family like that. It was simply a cry for help. They never even told me I could have a toothbrush until a few hours before they released me. Some of the attendants were civil, I think, and Kristian was very kind to me, because I never caused any trouble. In order to survive, I stayed in my bed with my eyes closed and pretended to be asleep. I looked at the floor whenever I was up. It's not safe to make eye contact with the lunatics there. The sheriff said I would be safe there, but that was the MOST UNSAFE place I've ever been in my life!!! I was literally TERRIFIED the whole time I was there. I came home with PTSD and severe nightmares. I can't sleep most nights and that place caused my speech to become a bad stutter. The food was like pig slop. NEVER tell your doctor you might harm yourself. They will send you there by the Baker Act against your will. I'm 78 years old and they put me in with the worst of the worst. Now I need therapy to try to get over being there. I had a nervous breakdown which is why I went to my doctor. I am SO MUCH WORSE now than I was when I got sent there. read more

Went in there for some mental help all I got was a one-night stay with a bed to take a shower got five meals they didn't give me any kind of psychiatric help when you first go in to get admitted the people in there are so rude it's like they don't have a soul like you owe them something for showing up there for help it's a total disgrace do not I repeat stay away from this place read more

This facility is what is being referred to as an "economic cure". They are holding people that shouldn't be held. The facility is dirty. The staff is compassionless and has zero desire to support people who have no real need to be in there. I would caution anyone who places a loved one in their facility. You may be surprised at the result. This is going to cost us thousands of dollars in lawyer fees and the trauma that has been caused is immense. read more

Lifestream is a mental health and substance abuse treament center all over north Florida. I spent about four days in a Lifestream facility in Leesburg, FL. I felt traumatized the entire time that I was in there. It is dirty. They don't clean the windows and they were full of cobwebs and dust. I asked the staff repeatedly to let me know when I could return home. Their answer was always to talk to the doctor when I see him. I was not given an appointment with the "doctor" and my 72 hour hold was almost up. I felt pretty sick and I had to devise a plan to get out of there. When I had the chance, I called my husband to come pick me up. I knew that they would not hold me when my husband, a former lawyer, was at the front desk. read more

So disappointed. Dr. PALOR would not listen to my concise explaination of symptoms, answer basic questions (she laughed at that) about other info she had been given within the lifestream system. Information I have to jump through hoops to get myself-Ludicrous. I clearly explained my state of being and recent effects of drugs that had been tested on me working in a negative way. I explained how I knew what sort of medicines worked for me and why, and expressed aprehention about possible negatve consequences of potential further rx complications. SHE HAD JUST explained exactly that this was a valid possibility but she misread my apprehention as a danger to my person and dismissed my calm and rational points. Entirely disconnected to rational statements concerning my treatment- and preoccupied by goodness knows what- she merely committed me to a costly psychiatric inpatient program that would only be necessary if I continued on these misperscribed medications which cause me great duress. I can only hope that SOMEONE is receiving ethical quality care from her. She was incapable of providing it to me. On a positive note, Dr. Palor is very attractive (on the outside anyhow), the Genoa Pharmacy located within the facility is well run and on point, and counselor Yumica Sparkman is pleasant kind and caring. read more

Dr. Wallace is caring and warm. He's helped me and my son tremendously. I find him to be an empathetic and highly intelligent care provider. Watching someone you love suffer is difficult and Dr. Wallace was the lifeline my son needed to start to heal. Even though I only see him 3-4 times a year he always remembers me and our previous discussions. While I can't know the experience of others, I would question any review of Dr. Wallace that isn't mostly positive. Sadly, the administrative staff do leave much to be desired but the genuine goodness of Dr. Wallace warrants the five star rating. read more

I was admitted here and it was the worst of my life. The beat and abused me. I was on phone restriction my entire stay there. The doctor barely spoke to me and diagnosed me with a mental disorder. (I have no history of ever having an mental illness) The staff provoked me and laughed at me. They prescribed medication that altered my brain causing me to have hallucinations and suicidal idéations. I was a test dummy for them. I remember all the abuse that happened to me at that facility. I am in the process of suing them for negligence. Please someone closed down that facility and don't take your family member there. They treat the patients so wrong in there and what makes it worse is that they lie to your family members. I am just now detoxing off the medication prescribed. I advise anyone to stay far away from there. That place is WORSE than jail. read more

Went there for counseling for an alcohol problem and they treated me like crap. Even though I didn't qualify for the free services and I paid cash each time they were rude and uncompassionate. The doctor prescribed me a medicine for a mental disorder even though I have even been diagnosed for one. Don't go here. You will regret it....even if it is free for you. They know nothing about treatment for mental issues or substance abuse issues. read more

As if the complete and utter rudeness of almost every front desk oerson in the evtire organization wasnt bad enough, the drs dont seem to care either. My first dr, dr Salazar would just walk my scripts out to me and never actually see me. My last appt wasin december, they canceled my appt im march and couldnt reschedule me untill THE END OF AUGUST! So my Meds ran out and i feel awful. I saw a dr carrera at the third st location because there was a cancelation. He decided to change my medication to 1/6 of the dose i used to be on. This facility is horrendous. They claim "empathy" as a part of their motto, yet the staff continuously snicker and mock most of their patients. They are so severely understaffed that the majority of the nurses have become callous and unhelpful, as their work load weighs tremendously on them. If you ask for something you need, you receive backlash and extreme attitude. During my 2 night stay, which needed only be 1 night, there was a woman clearly suffering intense delusions and extreme psychosis. She clearly did not receive the appropriate treatment, as she was left on a mattress in the middle of the hallway floor. She was "guarded" by a various staff members who belittled and antagonized her. It was utterly painful to watch. In fact, I do not believe she was even seen by a psychiatrist the entire time I was there! Truly disheartening and atrocious. Unfortunately, I believe this place was founded with the intention to help mentally ill and chemically dependent people, but at this point it is just a lawsuit waiting to happen. In fact, I wasn't even seen by a psychiatrist my entire 2 night stay, and therefore I was taken off my anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication that I had been prescribed for depression/anxiety, which was what led me to the facility in the first place. To take a depressed person off their anti-depressant cold turkey is just medically unsound. I genuinely fear for those in the care of this facility. If you are considering using this facility as a resource, I implore you to look elsewhere! It is worth the drive to Orlando in order to avoid the abuse suffered at the hands of this location! read more
