Katie is great! Very professional, tells you how things are versus what you want to hear, and the service is affective and thorough. Making an appointment is very easy, they have tons of openings and sometimes you can even be seen within the week. Katie is very nice and informative of what is happening. She really listens to your concerns and will provide the best treatment possible. Sometimes they may not work on the first visit but she is always willing to keep trying to provide a solution. While others passed on an issue I was having on my face, she had a hunch something was wrong, cut it off, and sent it to the lab for analysis. It ended up being skin cancer! I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience was incredibly disappointing. J recommended a filler treatment and assured me it would noticeably soften my nasolabial folds and last up to two years. I trusted that--but saw little improvement. At my follow-up, she walked that back and said the results were only about 10% better. Dr. Ann then said they never should have promised two-year results and offered to "fix" it at half price using filler that was about to expire. That felt unfair given the original promises. Do NOT go to Lifetime Dermatology in Troy, MI. When I made my appointment I was told the doctor would not be available but the P.A. who would see me could do everything the doctor could do except surgery. I wanted them to do a full body scan for possible skin cancer. When I got to the office I was told they couldn't do the full body scan because the doctor wasn't there. They were extremely unprofessional in how this was handled. I told them they were wasting my time. They said full body scans were not available on the first appointment but I was never told this when I made my appointment. read more

I like my dermatologist, been seeing them for years. It's the cosmetic sales that get to me. After getting all the sales emails about them, I decided to try an IPL treatment. I was reassured it would take care of spots on my face after one treatment, even by my dermatologist. I did one, nothing. I did a follow up, nothing. Now I've paid for two treatments and there's been no change. I've even purchased their suggested lightening serum, from them. I've worn SPF religiously. After the second treatment, she mentioned I might need to return for another follow up. This is starting to feel like a scam. A few hundred here, a few hundred there. If they had presented me the facts initially, I would have been less willing to get the treatments. read more

I went here to address a couple of issues about a month ago and saw a P.A. here were my impressions: Pros: -large, clean, modern office -friendly service -I like the ease of their patient portal Cons: -I was prescribed something extremely strong for a minor lesion and I experienced several unsavory side effects as a result. I was given directions for application by the P.A. but after reading the medication directions from the pharmacy, I noticed her advice seemed to contradict everything I had read (including online). So I didn't feel confident in her diagnosis and treatment. While I eventually got better, the side effects of the med were worse than what I came for and I had to stop treatment soon after. -the billing is more expensive than other dermatologists I've seen, and I saw a P.A., not a doctor. read more

Worst experience ever. Poor care and aftercare. Missed stitches during removal resulting in excessive scarring. Not to mention the poor stitching job in the first place. I visited this office based on the Yelp reviews, and I definitely was not disappointed! So many dermatologists in metro Detroit either have an obscene waiting list for appointments or keep you waiting in the office after checking in for a loooooooooooong time. I called on Monday and was able to get a full body scan/new patient appointment for Tuesday afternoon. I checked in at 2:55 and was called back before 3:00. Dr. Diamond spent a long time with me and explained everything she found. I was pleased with her thoroughness and her manner! I have a couple of birthmarks on my face, including my signature Cindy Crawford-esque spot above my lip, that will need to be removed in the future. When I go back in two months for another check up, I'll meet with Dr. Hern, the longtime owner of the practice, who will let me know if I need to be referred to a plastic surgeon or if she can do the removals. I always love it when doctors are willing to send patients to other practices so that they will receive the best care possible. I left with a new patient packet. There is an extensive list of cosmetic procedures they offer, including the standard Botox and Juvederm injections, peels, and treatments. I'm not really ready for those options, but if I ever want to, I would feel comfortable coming to this office. Very happy with this spot. I've had consistent skin issues that my Doc can't figure out, and this office got me in within a day. If I just have a quick question for the doc or PA, I can just email them through the portal and get a response within 24 hours... no costly dr appt needed for those quick q's! I was referred here by several friends and family members who have been going here for years. I had a spot on my face I was concerned about and they got me in right away to check the spot, but also scheduled another appointment down the line to do a full body check. It was nice that they got me in quickly for my concern and I don't mind waiting a few weeks for a longer appointment. I'd rather go somewhere that's booked. It means they are good! Everyone in the office was so kind and helpful. I met with the PA Jessica who was so comforting and knowledgeable about the spot on my face as well as every single other skin care concern I have (because as a woman, I have a million). She prescribed a retinol which they sell in their office for a very reasonable price, but she also sent a script to my pharmacy for one. She advised if insurance would cover the prescription to get it cheaper that way, and if not to come back and buy the one they carry. It felt nice to know she cares about my skin and my wallet. I have only seen Jessica (PA) at this office, but she, along with her medical assistant were remarkable. At Lifetime, I'm actually happy to go because I know I am going to be treated professionally, with respect and by people who really enjoy what they are doing...and it shows. I was just called by Dr. Herns office telling me that she did not have the skills to treat a psoriasis patient. She referred me out to other doctors recommending me to see them using old treatment methods without every seeing me or evaluating me or my case. It appears that this office does not like it when you ask to only see the doctor and not the Physician Assistants (PA). I do not like paying full price for a doctor when I am told I need to see a PA, because I requested to see the doctor she refused to see me or evaluate me, however recommended a treatment without seeing me. I would not recommend this doctor's office. I will inform my Blue Cross Blue Shield Referral service of my experience and ask them to post this feedback on there referral website for this doctor. read more

I selected this place primarily based on reviews. After my each of my visits I am surprised at how high those reviews are. However, i review based on my experience and not somebody else's as somebody else's experience might be different from mine. Pros: -large staff -Lisa-yes, the receptionist is wonderful and helpful in any way she can -bubbly young lady that stepped in while my technician was MIA. She was so pleasant & comforting. I wondered if my experience would have been different had U had her ad my technitian Cons: -price-this place is definitely more expensive than other, despite the fact that they say their prices are lower-if this is important to you-shop around & compare prices -the technician that treated 1st 2 times is Tasha. I would not recommend her for several reasons: on different appts she provided different at times conflicting information, when i asked to clarify, i received muddled answers, which is disappointing. I was strictly instructed that during my visit, i had to come 2 hours prior to treatment to get numbing lotion put on my face 1 hour apart with 2nd application 1 hour before treatment itself. 1.5 hours into my 1st treatment I realized Tasha has not returned to put 2nd layer. I went looking for her. At 1st I was told she stepped out and will be back in 15 min (which would mean 2nd layer would be 45 min late & would be on my face for 25 minutes instead of full hour before the treatment. I asked them to find somebody else to put 2nd treatment on my face. A lovely young lady did. Tasha showed up in 15 minutes & wanted to put 2nd layer. I said somebody already did since it was more than 30 minutes overdue. She just said ok & walked away-not professional, in my opinion, particularly since she is supposed to keep track of time, requirements, etc. this, combined with muddled, unconvincing answers makes me distrust her competency & experience. -They really pushed their line of product. Thankfully, i received a sample complementary with my product & determined it was not as quality as many other much more affordable items are. I feel like these type of services are very personal & you have to feel good about the place & the technician providing the service as well as certain degree of trust & competence. I did not feel this, in fact with every visit I had a bit more disappointing experience. Bottom line, your experience might be different, however, unless changes are made, I would not recommend this place to a friend. read more

I told her my wedding was coming up and she was very interested in helping me get cleared up beforehand. The topical treatment prescribed to me completely cleared my skin up and cost me nothing out of pocket. I went based on reviews I read here on Yelp. Scheduling an appointment was very easy and quick. I was able to get in less than a week from when I called. The building is a little hard to find because it's tucked away behind a Big Boy restaurant and there isn't great signage, but it's a nice building and clean. I was visited by a Physician's Assistant, Jessica. I was kind of put off because I think everyone wants to feel like you're getting your money's worth by being attended to by their best doctor, but Jessica did a great job of addressing my issues and concerns. I went in for acne and she prescribed me some antibiotics and topical treatments. We'll see how things work out but I'm pleased with the experience and would recommend them to anyone else. Wait time was about five minutes and they post their forms online to help expedite the check in process. Very smart of them. My insurance covered my exam (copay) and generic meds, which Jessica accounted for. read more
