I was so impressed by the Pastor Josh, his wife Lisa and church that I became a member. The volunteers are always helpful and smiling! I was born and raised Catholic and always had questions no one could really answer... so I always felt lost. When I found Lakeland Community Church, I felt like I was "home"! I get so much out of the weekly sermons. I frequently feel like the message was "directed and meant just for me and where I'm at in my life." I look so forward to every Sunday message. I must not be alone, since the church has grown and they are constantly expanding. There are small groups you can join that will help strengthen your journey in life and your relationship with Jesus. Recently, they opened up a Lakeland play land/park which is 5000 ft.² for children to play, all free and open to the community. During spring break, the Playland was so busy with children and their families that it hit capacity several times. So I would say that Lakeland's Playland is a huge hit with the church and the local communities!! My Grandson (7y) has given it a huge "thumb up"!! The church is Neo Gothic and is located at Broad and Geneva in downtown Lake Geneva and is a jewel box of beauty. The Stained Glass windows are incredible, including a Tiffany Window, and the 1883 Hook and Hastings Pipe Organ is worth the visit alone. The parish is a lively and welcoming group and the outreach of the church includes the Lake Geneva Food Pantry, Side by Side, and the Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank. During the summer, the church is the site (along with the Horticultural Hall next door) of the Lake Geneva Farmers Market. The church has a dedicated group of volunteers who sell locally produced brats (from the Lake Geneva Meat Market) and the profits go to local charities. The church is open on Farmers Market Day (Thursday), May until October, and folks can come in and hear the organ being played by Dr. Roy Clare, who is an amazing organist. Last summer (2023) over 3000 people came inside to see the beauty of this building. Service are every Sunday at 10:30 (Coffee hour starts at 9:30). We just got married here and had an absolutely wonderful experience! My husband are from out of…read morestate and are not members of this church, but we were welcomed with open arms (literally) when we first visited this church. Pastor Dave, wedding hospitality coordinator Ellie, and musician Jerry were all very accomodating and easy to work with. They bent over backwards to coordinate with us, and the hospitality coordinator was very timely with her responses. First Congregational UCC allowed us to choose what we wanted in our ceremony, and I had multiple guests tell me that Pastor Dave was funny and enjoyable as an officiant. Our ceremony was approximately 30 minutes long, and there were no restrictions on the readings we wanted to choose or anything of that sort. The sanctuary is gorgeous with its deep red carpet and wrap-around pews. The organ music was professional, and Jerry knew every hymn and song we wanted in our ceremony. It was so fun to ring the church bells as we exited the church, too! Do yourself a favor and check out this church. It's a beautiful and affordable place to get married in Lake Geneva!

The actual ropes course is very fun with plenty of various levels for beginner to advanced involving a climbing wall, zip line, and various heights. We also did more group level challenges with an actual leader from the camp. Our leader John was a very thoughtful friendly man who ensured we were safe while working as a team. The bathrooms onsite are very clean. We had lunch here as well, it was 'Taco Tuesday' on a Monday-- a full taco bar with churros, popsicles, and fruit. The dining area is a very classic bare bones camp environment, but the views from the outside tables are phenomenal on a sunny day. They have a small little beach with a pier for kayaking.

The staff is friendly, the activities were well planned out, the grounds are beautiful, the food is great, the accommodations are clean, comfortable and cozy. My daughter isn't one for overnights so I was shocked when she told me she wanted to go to a week long overnight camp here. This is the ONLY camp she would even look at! This religious organization had been on a growth spurt under ELCA.org and the pastors Mary Ann &…read moreMark Moller-Gunderson's wonderful work, at which time it outgrew its' humble beginnings on Park Row in Lake Geneva (now Anchor church), and had to relocate in a new building (to which, I personally raised many thousands of dollars). As a child I attended the Park Row street's Sunday bible school (at which my mother instructed many of the neighborhood kids from my age 6 until age 10). I was confirmed there as well (see attached photo). In the mid-2000's attendance was increasing beyond capacity and the elders began seeking their new spot of unimproved, vacant land. Since building the new facilities on Bloomfield Road, it is a pleasant place to worship and has many events, fellowships and study groups (as is evidenced by their website's calendar). However, it is also fraught with lackluster community outreach, cookie-cutter pop-Christian-culture learning materials and study guides, nearly non-existent follow-up, personal care, communication, consulting, or in-depth counseling by pastor(s) beyond the micro post-Sunday service banter and small talk unless you're diagnosed, dying or being hospitalized. The services can be uninspired, devoid of universal human truths, science discoveries that affirm biblical truth, discussions of past doctrines from the HISTORY of the Lutheran church proper, or events OUTSIDE the church or WITHIN the church, not specifically pertaining to that Sunday's ratified and repurposed seminary-school's sermons. As well, their rather odd choice of both a "Classic" service (8:30am), and a "Contemporary" service (10:00am) --both of which simply bother only to have less standing, clapping, singing or modern vs. traditional hymnal song selections-- begs the question why the elder and younger congregation members are not more fully encouraged to openly share and mingle as was done in generations past? COVID-19 issues aside, the pasteurized, homogenized, often boring presentations, bible classes and services are not going to inspire, fulfill, resound in the soul, nor impassion future discourse by the younger adult or teen learners, as had been the case when this church had provided such things for myself in the heyday of its' past. Anyone that Jesus would have commanded that we serve FIRST and FOREMOST (the downtrodden, poor, wicked, the helpless around us, etc.), seems a lacking covenant at this church currently. For example: both their outreach and offerings LACK any of the following; (1). Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, (2). any food pantry, (3). any ecologically-friendly food/facility or gathering efforts to ELIMINATE PLASTIC utensils/cups/plates/containers/bags etc., and (4). any missionary out-reach program easily accomplished as "neighborhood goodwill efforts" instead or more wasteful and inane "global needs drives" or family/youth fellowship trips outside of Walworth County, WIsc., and (5). any co-connecting of gardening, hiking, arborism, litter collection, highway adoption, animal husbandry, 4-H with Christian events scheduled by this church.

The head pastor is kind but for some reason decides who is saved and who isn't in his sermons which is not what Jesus taught. Maybe he's changed but I've noticed the out of context messages has spread to their bible studies and members. Our focus as believers is not the law but Jesus. Beautiful building though.
