I'm not quite sure if it is a brewery, but as a pub it is actually pretty awesome, not just because of the views on the deck out the back, but also because of the huge range of beers that they have available as well. We visited the Inglewood Inn for a birthday lunch and left feeling full and very content. The inn, which was established in 1857, has recently been renovated over the last couple of years. The pub has a lovely quaint feel. We were seated undercover in the enclosed newer decking area with windows overlooking the grounds and farm surrounds. The outdoor area has a lovely setting for weddings, and the nearby hills and sheep create a picture perfect scene. There's an outdoor beer garden with bar, also great for events. I ordered the beef cheek pie. A huge serve - the delicious pastry was full to the brim with a juicy gravy and tender beef. The apple chutney created a sweet balance, amd delicately accompanied by mashed potato. The kilpatrick oysters were a good starter; but a surprise was the seafood platter which provided a very generous serving and a good selection. My favourite was the big pieces of salt and pepper squid. It tasted so fresh and cooked perfectly. The service was prompt and very friendly. A fantastic place if you're after a lovely weekend drive, a hearty meal, and a glass of wine to wash it all down! I'm looking forward to visiting again!

Anyway, since I don't need to stay in hotels when I come to Adelaide, we just basically remained in the bar. Well, they certainly do have a great selection of beers here, which certainly does make it stand out from many of the other suburban pubs that I have visited, and the service was okay. However, what I really did like about this place was the balcony that sits next to the lake, and gives you some magnificent views. The phrase 'airplane food' popped into my mind, but there was no need to worry. For a start, planes probably couldn't take off with the generous helpings dished up at this fancy pub. On top of the half-price carvery deal the night we attended was an offer of free soup - a choice of two soups, in fact. Cheapskate heaven. I won't go on about the consistently high quality of the traditional fare offered by the professional kitchens of most pubs in Adelaide. Suffice to say that our roasts were definitely up to scratch. My beef was tender and juicy, yet with a crunchy crust. My partner's pork was succulent with lashings of perfectly roasted crackling. The gravy in both instances was proper pan-juice gravy, not the glutinous powder sort. The vegetable selections in the Bain Marie were regularly topped up with fresh material and the salads were a cut above the usual noodle, spud or 'green' alternatives. What a delicious meal we each enjoyed. It may have been a bit warm had we been lunching next to the vast expanse of north facing plate glass at our elbows, but the view at dinner time across the lake was ideal. Turn up your nose at soup, roast and beer if you like, but sitting back, with a lake view and a well-filled belly at the West Lakes Hotel, I say, 'Suit yourself!'

It is a little out of the way, at least where Adelaide is concerned because without a car you can only get here by a rather unreliable bus. However, having managed to make my way down here I have to admit that it is quite a charming place. It is quite large, and has a number of rooms, including a gorgeous beer garden. I had no interest in food, and just needed a quick caffeine hit. It was almost as if the waiter took offense to us only wanting coffee. I can understand that businesses want to sell as much as they can, but business is business. The coffee seemed a little overpriced to begin with, but it was the staff's inattentive attitude that tipped my discomfort over the edge, and I decided to leave. Maybe I was in a bad state of mind. Maybe the waiter wasn't having a great day. Maybe I smelled of sweat. Who knows?

We'd had many lunches and dinners over the years there always good. This time however... I developed a dreadful FOOD POISONING from tje undercooked chicken. I'm a nurse and know this was poisoning. I couldn't work for a few days and was extremely unwell after paying a good amount of money for the lunch. Apparently your chef ( at the time ) likes to UNDER COOK chicken and fish. I told your restaurant x3 about this and nobody ever contacted me.. I asked to speak to the manager BUT this never occurred. It's competitive. But, it takes a smart hotel owner to realise that all you need to do to compete is be creative and cook amazing food. That is what The Highway does so well. Just look at the photos! Whether you want something more al la carte or your regular pub affair; The food is great here! In fact, so is the wine & beer lists. They stock a great selection of craft beer and boutique wines. High fives for Alpha Box & Dice! Nice! Be on the look out for the seasonal menus on their social media. Game Season being a favourite over the last two years. The Chefs here love to be creative. My last visit I chowed down on an Alpaca Cheeseburger and it was amazing! It was very similar to beef, just a little lighter. You probably could not tell the difference if you did not know beforehand. This pub does have gaming. But let's face it; most of them do these days. However, what is good for people like me who do not like gaming, is that it is in a completely different wing to the restaurant and front bar. I really like that! During the summer months this beer garden is a great weekend hang out! There is an outdoor bar, plenty of space for all of your mates to have a good Sunday Session. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine!…read more This trendy pub in the middle of Mile End has managed to escape my radar until recent renovations and uber cool Instagram pics popping up of their quirky interior. If you like dining in the presence of a mounted deer head chandelier, gazing up at a summer's sky and a Gary Seaman's graffiti art from a beer garden or toileting under the deep blue sea then this bar is for you. I also appreciate that it hasn't gone so far industrial chique that it's attracting the hipster crowd and it has managed to maintain a cosy, casual pub feel. I am teetering on 3.5 stars though here more than 4 and that is because this place suffers from the "we've upgraded our pub and therefore we're going to charge you restaurant prices," syndrome. We dined on Blackened Salmon with a green mojo sauce, quinoa, pomegranite and pretty flouncy veg on the side ($28) and a Coorong Angus Flat Iron Steak with chips ($25). Sounds fancy, but it was a bit too simple pub meal in taste and presentation (see the photos). Both meats were perfectly cooked but the lack of side with the steak and the basic uncooked cucumber, tomato and mango with the salmon didn't make up for the fact it was served with a smashing sauce and quinoa. Top that off with 2 beers costing $18 and a small serving of potato skins (which were out of this world and served with tzatziki & chutney) for $10 and we felt a little too light of wallet at the end of the night. I'd definitely go back here for snacks, drinks and the atmosphere with a group but probably not to dine in. Perhaps a longer Happy Hour (more than 5-6pm on weekdays) would help for those on a budget like us?
