DO NOT EVER RENT HERE! I am a very passive person but I have the urge to warn others about lighthouse. My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to rent when we found Alger Heights Apartments. Thought it looked so cute with corner windows for our cats and it was within our budget with close distance to our jobs. I went to see the apartment, hallway was small but other all it just looked like a older apartment so I said I loved it, we moved in about two months later. The day we went to move in should have told us all we needed to know about what we were going to deal with. When we were given the wrong key code to our new apartment, we could not get a hold of anyone at all. We got a call back 4 hours later and she told us she got one number wrong in our key code. That's fine but annoying. We finally got in and then went to go look at the shared washer and dryer in the basement. The washer and dryer are...old to say the least.It has not worked since we moved in 4 months ago. We have to drag our laundry to a laundromat which is something no one loves. They have not even attempted to fix it when we constantly put in work orders. I was looking around our new kitchen when I saw a roach crawl on the front of our fridge, I killed it not thinking much. Little did we know that was just the start. We have had roaches since the day we moved. We believe it was the trash people that moved out a month after we moved in. They moved so the roaches scattered. We have called them multiple times and they say that Orkin will take care of it, they come once a month to spray the trim of our apartment. We have gotten the city inspector involved with this and are waiting to hear back. We also are looking at other apartments and very much want out of here. The apartment above us was covered in carpet and now they are showing off this apartment for someone to rent. It's just so wrong that I just had to warn others about it as well! read more

I am currently renting through light house , my outlet in my kitchen by the stove went out I put in a maintenance request and was sent a message saying someone will come to my house the next day between 9am-12pm , by the time 11:30am came I called them to see if they knew the status because no one has called me they said they didn't know and if no one came after 12 to calll them back and they would put in another order. the next day I called to see if they did that they didn't. and proceeds to put in another one over the phone for me. i asked her what was I supposed to do she said she don't know. it has been almost 2 weeks and I haven't heard anything. this is a hazardous situation as I have three little kids. this is not the first thing wrong! when I moved in I was not made aware of the squirrels living in the attic , on top of that all my windows except three windows were sealed shut from the cheap paint they use. went throu almost the whole summer not being able to open windows because they took too long to send someone out. please be ware when renting from them. I am grateful to have a place to stay but I also want it to be safe for my kids. read more

Lighthouse property management s in Muskegon should take the management off their business name. They have repeated placed the worst tenants possible into this duplex across the street from my house. The police are called frequently and they disrupted everyone's sleep. I own several quality properties in the neighborhood and screen my tenants before handing them the keys. I called Julie at light house and while describing what happened and being polite she hung up on me. So I now say do not risk your property with Light House...they dint care who they put in your property and do not perform inspections from what I can see. read more

I have had the misfortune of renting one of their apartments at Briar Lane apartments and trust me when I say this place is little more than a polished turd. When taking our initial tour, we discovered a maintenance person taking a dump in what would be our apartment. That could not have been a more accurate depiction of what the staff here thinks of their residents. Despite looking like a nice place initially, I quickly learned that this place is garbage. Our fridge leaks and doesn't work correctly, our air conditioner that sounds like a jet engine in our living room (literally) breaks constantly but has yet to be properly fixed, the building has been infested with ants and HORNETS that come through the vents in dozens, and the staff has been eager to tell me to "f*** off" if I come to them with a concern. If you do make the mistake of moving in here, just pray there never needs to be work done on the apartment above you. You can expect loud banging at the crack of dawn with no regard for any of their residents. I've never felt compelled to review something on here, but I do feel compelled to warn anyone considering this place to look elsewhere. read more

I have had the misfortune of renting from this company and it has been a very frustrating experience. When we signed our lease on the house, we had an established move in date where the previous tenants would be out and the house was supposed to have been cleaned. The day my roommate and I showed up to pick up our keys, the woman in charge of our lease seemed really confused. She told us there was a mix up and that the previous tenants were still in the house (mind you, at this point we had COMPLETELY moved out of our previous apartment and had no where else to go). Not only were the other tenants not moved out, but the house had not been cleaned and they owned multiple dogs. They agreed to give us the keys and did take a half month's rent off which was warranted but we had to spend the entire evening and part of the next day waiting for the other tenants to remove their stuff and then clean the ENTIRE house before we could move our furniture in. Once we moved in, we were required to fill out a checklist and make any maintenance requests to have things fixed. In our lease it states that Lighthouse has 48 hrs to respond to any maintenance requests put into the system. The first request we put in was for the bats and mice that were everywhere in the house. It took someone almost two weeks to come and take a look and all they did was put up a couple of mouse traps. Two mornings later, all 4 mouse traps had dead mice in them...We were told there was nothing they could do about the bats and that we would just have to deal with it. Nothing more was done about the mice. A bad storm took out our back fence. Both my roommate and I put in two service tickets, almost a month apart from the first to get it fixed. No one responded until I finally sent in another online request and called. They claimed the delay was because it was an "extensive fix" and they required permission from the owner. The only thing done to fix the fence was screw a piece of 2x4 across to secure it so it doesn't even open properly any more. The most frustrating thing of all, however, has been the removal of 4 large trees from the backyard. Not only did we not know they were going to be removing the trees until the day before but the company they used completely DESTROYED our backyard. They ran over all of our flower beds with their truck, ran over our fire pit and destroyed it, ripped up all of the grass, removed the back fence to gain access and never replaced it (we have a dog and can't use the backyard to let him out currently even though a "fenced in backyard" was a part of our lease) and littered the backyard with trash and empty gatorade bottles. There are mountains of wood chips covering the yard and garden beds. Lighthouse has been contacted twice and no one will answer the phone. If at all possible, avoid renting from this company. They are unprofessional, unresponsive and not worth the time and hassle. read more

I literally cleaned up a leaky toilet for months so it wouldn't flood my downstairs neighbors apartment. If you like paying for services that you'll rarely receive, you'll love this business. NO. Was interested in a property they had listed on their website. My two other roommates and I called and emailed them daily trying to schedule a showing. A week later we heard back and she told us there was going to be an open house. Since we knew we wanted it, we went ahead and filled out an application. We all have good rental history, credit etc. We went to the open house and told the lady we applied already and wanted to move forward... and she told us someone else already had the rights to the house, even though they hadn't seen it or applied. So there goes our application fee and taking a day off of work to see the house. Terrible customer service. read more

They will charge an additional monthly fee for having a pet (standard practice) but will NOT schedule anything with you in order to let someone in o make repairs. DO NOT USE THE ONLINE REQUESTS! They will never respond to the request in any manner. If you call them, and they respond, expect an unprofessional discourteous communication. I will never rent from this property management group again, and recommend working with a company that has an understanding of customer service. read more

When u do talk to them they rude dont call back just got hung up on when asking about a dog they dont actually fix anything just rig it up most of time like front door didnt actually close for months after it broken down had bugs there that they dont take care of that r now even coming out of the electrical sockets and lights even with a pest control company being there almost every month the bathroom ceiling has fallen through at least 3 times. Terrible Management!!!!! If you're going to be leasing from LPM, be careful what property you choose, since they are extremity INCONSISTENT and only care about certain properties. Our first place with them was over in Heritage Hill on James Ave, which was a great place and we never had any issues, loved living in that unit. We then had to move out of the unit at the end of June 2016. We decided to stay with Lighthouse due to our experience with them (BAD MISTAKE). We moved into their property on College & Wealthy, which is a 7 unit building and have been experiencing nothing but negativity with the upstairs neighbors and LPMs management refuses to do anything about it other than offering us to move. Apparently they are ok with having more than 6 adults and 4-6 children live in a two bedroom unit who are constantly stomping around starting at 5am EVERY morning and then again at midnight EVERY night! The management does NOT care about this one bit. We've tried to talk to the neighbors on multiple occasions without any result, so we took it up with management numerous times without even getting close to a solution, ZIP ZERO NADA!!! The unit was also advertised to have heat included, which is a radiator system throughout the building. It worked about a handful of times throughout winter. We had to literally wear our winter clothing inside because it was roughly about 50-55 on a good day. They did supply us with space heaters, which only then made the breakers pop every 5 minutes, so you pick your battle between having to go to the basement or constantly wearing a winter coat. If you plan on renting here, save yourself a lot of money and time and DON'T!!!!! Very unprofessional and disappointing!!!!! read more

I rented from them for three years and I have to say everything, but good. They have very poor customer service, Elizabeth who handles the billing aspect is very rude. The tried to falsely charge me for lawn care they say was $350, but when asked could not provide an invoice. The house I rented from them was not up to code. The whole front part of the home up and downstairs wall sockets did not work, mildew that grew in my bathroom due to poor ventilation occurred. When I call about it they just painted over it. The side door leaked water, faulty wiring, leaking sinks and poor maintenance/customer service was the bulk of it. Not only that I left the home in good condition that they requested on the cleaning list and they still kept my deposit. I called Brian before to get an understanding on what they would charge for and to request to be at the walk through Ingot the run around and he lied to my face about everything.
