My daughter is a recent graduate and our time with LCD and ADC has come to an end. We stumbled upon this studio while just driving by and we are so happy we did! She has made so many lifelong friends and so have I. Every person who is a part of this studio has always looked out for the dancers' well being, and that is the truth. Can't imagine sending my little dancer anywhere else! She started a few years back, when she was still nervous to do things without a parent. The owner, who was her teacher, and teaching assistants made her feel comfortable and she hasn't been timid since day one. Members of the owner's family run the front and are always helpful. The entire atmosphere reminds me of where I attended dance as a child; this studio keeps growing but keeps their small-studio feel. The recitals are truly an awesome experience! We like the ease of the recital package that LCD puts together (one reasonable price for DVD, costume, etc.) and optional fundraising to help with the price of this package. It's another one of the small touches that makes a big difference. The owner is Fair, Respectful and Proud of her Team. She is professional and is always open to critique in order to grow. She has FeedBack forms and encourages an open door system for parents to talk to her directly. The teachers are wonderful and patient with their students. The parents join together to create a positive environment for the dancers. My daughter began at the park district as she determined if dance was something she wanted to put effort into or not. After a couple years we found out that Lights Camera Dancing was close to home and tried them out for ballet. My daughter and I were amazed by their recital (what an exciting show!) and wanted to be part of it. The tuition is so worth the experience. It's been 4 years and my daughter has now broadened her dance skills to more than only ballet, came out of her shell (socially) and is becoming a beautiful young lady with the help of this studio and the friends she's made here. This studio is FAMILY owned. Beside the owner, her mother, her aunt and her husband are the ones who will greet you and help you with any studio concerns you have. Not to mention, you can purchase most shoes from her store directly, at a cheaper price than a dance store. The owner instills a family feel to the entire studio and teaches the girls to be kind to one another and how to respect each other's different personalities, something that is of VALUE to myself. My daughter joined the Action Dance Crew (competition team) and we were impressed with the whole experience. My daughter has joined the crew 2years now, and my two younger daughters have also joined the studio since then. I applaud the owner for crunching all the numbers and putting them into 3 different payments for me to understand. No hidden fees! She and her staff do the measurements, alterations, beadings, and dazzling of all outfits themselves! Talk about dedication! If an outfit or hairdo goes wrong, herself or her staff is the one on site, at each competition, to put everything in order. If parents can't drive their dancer to practices, I've seen the owner pick up and drop off girls herself. The moms here are ready to help each other out, friendly and have fun as we all support our daughters with their talents. It's well balanced all around. I was given the option to try a class or try summer class with NO obligations to join. *I'd love to hear the owner's side of the story to the previous review about being kicked off the team. I'm more interested to hear what kind of limits she pushed to have those consequences, but the owner is professional enough to not mention it and instead grow from it. We've been dancing here since 2010, love this family run studio. My daughters have become beautiful dancers and made many friends. Thanks Stacie and staff! I gotta say there is nothing negative about this studio. We are part of the competition team and unlike another reviewer here we saw no surprise expenses. The owner is amazing with the children. My husband surprised me with a hip hop class since he knows how much I love to dance. The adult hip hop class is on Wednesday nights. Danny the instructor is sweet and was welcoming. The class was so great and it was just a lot of fun. The lady at the front desk is so sweet and since it was our first time it was free! They offer a punch card which is great and only $90 for ten classes. I will say, make sure to call ahead to see if they have class. read more

Don't take a chance with your child. You would do well to look elsewhere! In an effort to be fair, I will start by saying that the horrible experience we had was unique to only a few families. The kids and parents are great. The bad time we had was with the owner. I had heard rumors that she can be a bit crass and unprofessional, but my daughter seemed to enjoy dancing so we started with a few classes... then she joined the dance team, "Action Dance Crew". She would occasionally complain that the owner "is mean". We assumed this was just a coach being a coach and an 8 year olds misinterpretation of hard work. Also my daughter loved the other kids and performing. Like a lot of dance schools, it is very expensive, especially after joining the team. And surprise expenses, fees and costs would pop up regularly. After a little research however, we found that there are plenty of options in the area and some are less expensive and I've heard great things about many of them. They may come with better instructors too... at the very least, much more organized. Because of the cost and the possibility that there are other good schools near Roselle, we began to investigate other options. We decided to take a break to save some money and try one near by. They seem so nice, very professional and their facility is so much nicer. AND LESS THAN HALF THE COST!!! -- When the owner of Lights found out about this unforgivable betrayal, she banned my daughter from the year-end party and awards ceremony. A party we paid for and my daughter earned. She did this to another little girl as well. Her mom is a single parent and needed to change schools due to custody schedules and money. Both little girls are devastated, sad and confused. I would describe the mentality of the owner at Lights as like being in a street gang. You are not allowed to leave the gang. If you do, you are considered an enemy. Many people have not had this experience. Many families have had wonderful LCD and ADC experiences. But so have people at many other dance schools. So why would you take a chance with your child? You would do well to look elsewhere. read more

The owner of this business is very unprofessional. As another mom stated in a review, the owner is very vindictive. It's her way or the highway! As a few of these other reviews have stated that the owner is open minded to suggestions, this is not the case. I was told by the owner that is her studio and she makes the decisions and the mothers have no say so, if you don't like it then leave! She told me that her studio was not the right fit for my daughter and myself because I was confused about some of her policies that she does for some and not for others, it just depends on who you are. So we left as the owner suggested and my daughter had to hear from another girl at her school that it was my daughters choice to leave her studio and she announced this to the the whole dance team! Well that is a lie, and it was also very unprofessional of her to share my daughters personal information with the rest of the dance team! So I highly recommend to stay away from this dance studio! read more
