I signed up for a class on classpass, I drove to the studio which appeared to be in a neighborhood that was residential based on the address in class pass, I called the studio 2x as I could not locate it and nobody picked up, I tried again the following day and the line was disconnected I could not leave a voicemail. I was charged $20 for missing the class as the studio told classpass that I could have found them. I am in a war with classpass and my credit card. This studio is a SCAM and as an avid pilates expert who spent years in NYC doing reformer pilates, DO NOT ATTEND THIS STUDIO. THEY SCAM AND LIE TO THEIR BUSINESS PARTNERS AND TAKE $ FROM NEW CLIENTS WHO HAVE NOT USED THEIR SERVICES WHEN THEY LACK CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

This is a really nice place. Experienced two classes. Buns & Guns and Kickboxing. It was the same upbeat instructor for both classes. Both times everyone was pleasent and the instructor was energetic. I really like the set up, class size and course offerings. The only drawback is there are not a lot of weights or poles variety if there are more than 10 ppl. It's also pretty expensive over time. But if you are looking for great fitness options, it's a good buy. read more

Noticed that the studio replied to my review. I want to make note that yes, I am a teacher from the city, I was not taking class for any other reason other than to take class. I have been to many studios in a variety of cities and do enjoy meeting others that pole. When I came in there was no mention of their policies of the so called 10 week session until i got there. It was never explained and not even a mention of a maybe you shouldn't was brought to my attention. Everyone seemed quite nice about it and I did think everyone was nice. My review is not a personal one. In addition, I could have said more about the teaching of the pole tricks. But I decided not to thinking it may be misconstrued as me just being mean and competitive. However, go to any pole studio and you will find that the tricks being taught were not safe and neither were the poles. I have been to pole studios in other cities, met other pole studio owners, and it was one of the worst classes I have taken. Let me also remind you that the situation of me doing tricks that were not being taught is not the whole truth. I'd like to also say that the poles have a coating that after many spinning tricks were giving me blisters. I never flipped, I never climbed, I followed the tricks being taught and may have not did them exactly the way the instructor did them but was everyone else looking exactly like the teacher? definitely not. I was barely being noticed by the other students. I asked questions and didn't do things that were totally off of what the teacher was teaching. AND note, maybe you want to do a warmup for the pole if you plan on teaching 9 tricks in one hour. The warmup couldn't have been more than just kinda dancing around lightly, how does that prepare your arms? AND I found it funny that there was no reply to how safe the poles were. Let me mention that I threw a simple spinning trick, a basic spin, and the pole jutted out of it's place and was at an angle. If you are referring to the "tough situation" I put other students in, check your poles, your warmup first. If she found a problem with anything I was doing she should have talked to me. Again, I didn't see students copying me or almost getting hurt because of me. I was in a corner and there were only 4 students! Remembering what happened when I went, there were two young girls there that were NEW as well and I sat there as they signed up. NO ONE questioned them or told them about the supposed policies either. In addition there was a student who was trying to do inverted tricks and the teacher helped her do them. The music? HA. Well, the teacher said it herself she wanted new music and I was happy to share and ask her what some of her songs are. I came back and gave her a song which she seemed to like.. apparently there is a lot of fake smiling faces going on in that studio. I feel stupid for even thinking to go back there for any other classes. As I said, the teacher was nice, apparently I was talked about after I left which makes me even more want to never return for the other classes which I hoped to go back and try. Now, forget it. I was messaged a few times about your studio by the way, and people asked about yoga which i had not taken... I gave them the nicest compliments about how nice and warm i thought the studio was. I felt like the atmosphere was nice and that there was a massage therapist there. I told them that they should try the other classes and yes, even the pole because maybe it wasn't for me. I don't regret doing so because that was the truth at the time. read more

This is a beautiful set of yoga/pilates/dance studios! I bought a package for my sister and I to go for classes for Christmas, and the teachers are incredibly helpful. Everyone there is fun and positive, especially Catriona and Christine. I have taken everything from meditation, to pole dancing, to yoga, to pilates, to chair dancing. If you've been a member they sometimes offer free classes, which is a great way to try something new. The Pilates is challenging but rewarding, and instructors are helpful--they'll come over and fix your positioning if need be. :) The front room has big windows that let in lots of sun, it's all wood flooring, there's a back room with dimmed lights for yoga, and they also have a masseuse on staff in a separate back room. Signing up for classes is easy and convenient, all can be completed online. The only downsides are the rigid timelines (if you buy a pack, you have to use it quickly so check your schedule to make sure you'll actually use all the classes before it expires) which are especially bad because the classes are expensive. It is a great atmosphere with a wide variety of teachers, class offerings, and just very aesthetically pleasing overall; if you have the money to spend and are looking for a fun workout/yoga community, I would give Pilates Plus a try for sure! read more

I have been going to Pilates Plus since April '09 and I love it! I take Zumba classes, Kickboxing, Balle on a bar, Hip Hop, Yoga, Pilates and I love it. Its a great environment to foster and grow your health, tone and strengthen your body. The owner Susan and instructors are great , knowledgeable and very helpful! I made some great friends in Pilates , some of them so meaningful that we know each other's families and I was a bridesmaid for one of awesome ladies I met at Pilates. Have been going to the studio for a little over a month now and I have definitely noticed improvements in my core strength which has turned into better run times per mile as well as better posture while running. I was also having terrible sciatic nerve pain which might have been linked to my tight hamstrings and weak hips because now that my core has improved so has my nerve pain. I wish they had morning class offerings on Wed and Thur but even without those days I'm able to attend class about 3-4 times per week. So far my experience here has been a positive one. read more

I've taken 3 different classes so far at Pilates Plus, and I've enjoyed every one of them. was timid about going since I've only done yoga and yolates, but it's a friendly studio and their instructors are helpful. This past Saturday I took the Myofascial Release class. OMG did it hurt, but WOW did I feel like a million bucks after. It's incentive to use a foam roller at home to prevent the congestion from returning! They offer massages as well, at an affordable price. I look forward to my Saturday mornings here! read more

my friend will join me for some classes here and there..so comes once and a while and pays every time. We walk in this past time and they tell her she didn't pay in Nov(it is currently march when they tell her this). They make her pay for 2 classes when we both know she paid. The older owner im guessing was so rude and blamed it on my friend, she wouldn't even hear my friend out. The young lady at the desk handled it nicely though so they overcharged my friend classes i like are kickboxing and buns and guns. Elissa is great but they over charge a lot. read more

The atmosphere is so friendly and it seems like after only going for a little while most of the staff remembers who you are. The classes are generally at times that I could attend.... but I stick to the Pilates classes with Sylvia! I think she's an awesome instructor! I look forward to my one or two classes a week. They're challenging but not to the point where I'm crying for my mommy the next day. I did try a Yoga class and my only complaint about that class was the petuli oil. It took me almost three washes to get the smell out of my clothes. I'm sure there's lots of people who like it but I think it was a bit much for me. I love Pilates Plus! I joined the studio two years ago and attended for about a year until my finances got a little tight and I had to leave. I am now back a year later and happy again at being in the place that really helped to improve my mind & body. What I love about this studio is its intimacy. I feel so at home here and even after a year later, I walked in to instructors remembering me! I felt so special that of all the students they see they still remembered me and welcomed me back warmly. Like the other poster said, the Pilates can be challenging and Sylvia will work you good! But i've never seen faster results from any work out then when I was a member here. But again, they have different level classes of Pilates so if you aren't comfortable you can always choose what you want to take. Or you can always pick a class and just move at your own speed. The only downside for me was that I found it quite expensive. I did however notice that when I came back this time they offered a variety of packages which I found could fit my budget. The package I chose is $20 less then it was last year which was nice and incredibly worth it. Even when I was paying the $119 for unlimited mat classes it was worth it I have to say. And like I said, my body was in great shape while I was having fun too! Classes I love are Susan's 'Mind Body Motion' cardio which is a strong workout but incorporates some tai chi and other 'spiritual' like motions that had me feeling very connected to my body. Definitely not your boring ol' gym cardio! It also ends with a wonderful meditation. I enjoy Susan's committment also to what she is doing- you can tell she is completely in it. The music is always great too! Catriona is amazing for Yoga. Love her!! She is so warm and welcoming, and I must say her comforting and gentle accent and voice make you feel like you are floating! She is just so genuine it makes the class a true joy to be in. She will help you with your poses and encourage you by calling you out and complimenting you in front of the class when your form is good =) I haven't taken other instructors but I imagine they are good there too. The music she plays is also beautiful and the room is so cozy and warm. I also like that she will sometimes tell you the story behind what certain poses mean and incorporate things that involve the environment (for example, on Full Moon nights she will do poses involving the moon, etc.). It's really nice. Like I mentioned before Sylvia will work you to the bone for Pilates! Definitely a challenging workout with her. But she is wonderful and also helps with your poses. Very solid instructor who knows what she is doing, but makes the class fun. I also dig her 80's music ;) Elisa was awesome too for Zumba and Buns n' Guns but I think she moved :( Carrie is also a great instructor with a great and sweet personality. I do find her classes a little more gentle then Sylvia's so I would recommend for true beginners. But I'm sure it depends on the class level- I just found that the ones I took with her were not as hard on my body. She is a college teacher too and it comes through! Very great instruction. Overall, I LOVE this place and so happy to have found it. I can honestly say that I look forward to working out now!! PS: For the poster upset about the patouchli oil, in some classes it is offered but never required and some ppl do pass on it. so if you don't like it you can still have a good session without it. I personally love it...it's very therapeutic. Downsides: a little pricey, but many package options to make it less so. They also tend to offer free classes which is nice. Sometimes it can be very hard to reach someone if you phone during the day though so it's best to go there in person. Love this place! Trying to lose 2 years worth of baby weight. I have seen results in a month just doing the reformer 3 times a week. Instructors and veterans are kind and don't intimidate you. Just had my first zumba class ever! This gym is amazing! It has a ma and pop feel, with all the smiling faces you could ever want. I took zumba with Gabriella (I believe). She was awesome. Very inviting and kind. Huge thumbs up to this place. Getting a monthly pass for sure! read more

Go here everyday. It's made my body almost like it was when I was a teen. I'm 35 now, but Pilates Plus has made a huge difference.

I've tried three different sorts of classes since starting my trial membership here, and I've been very happy! The pole dancing class is really fun, and Mahja is a great and skilled instructor! I also really enjoyed Zumba! Gabbi is positively delightful and so enthusiastic that I couldn't help but smile all through class. I love coming to class at Pilates Plus. I was nervous at first about my skill level and age, but the instructors are warm and welcoming to everyone. Classes can be as easy or as challenging as you make them because the instructors offer modifications on more difficult moves. Over the course of a year I have taken a wide variety of classes offered here from pilates and yoga, to dance, and weight training. The variety is great and the flexibility of times is a plus too. I would recommend this studio to anyone interested. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars is because of the cost. It's pricy and I wish it cost less, but in the end I feel it is worth it. read more

This is a small, intimate studio located in Schaumburg which caters to majority women. If offers a ride range of classes from Yoga to bellydance to Pole. When you first walk into the building, you are greeted with the great staff which knows you by name. You feel like you are valued and welcomed. I have been taking the Pole class there, taught by Neta, since last November and I loved it and addicted! She is really laid back and fun! The pole classes are usually about 3-6 participates which ages range from early twenties and late 40's. (ability ranging as well). I would suggest, if you have never been on a pole, to take the Intro class which covers spins, transitions, some choreography. Then work your way to Pole Athleticism. (Inverts, climbing, more choreography) If you want a fun way to get in shape, and learn some sassy n sexy moves, I encourage you come to Pilates Plus. For any classes!! I love the staff, I love my classmates, and the studio is too cute! I could go on for more, but this is enough for now. She was extremely informative and made me feel beyond welcome in the studio and with what my body can't totally do yet. The unlimited MYD seems to be the best bang for your buck, tons of classes to choose from. I will send another review once I have worked with the other teachers. This is a really great, modern Yoga/Pilates/Dance facility. I've done the Mind, Body & Poll class, which was OK, but I especially LOVE the Yoga and Pilates classes. The Yoga instructor, Catriona, is wonderful, explains everything and offers alternative poses if one is too difficult, so beginners will not be intimidated. Same with the Pilates instructors. Pilates is challenging (rewarding!), but the instructors will make sure you're doing the positions correctly by coming over and modifying and explaining what you were doing wrong and what you need to be doing. The prices are pretty reasonable, and unlimited membership is only $119/month. Many of the people, including myself, stay for two classes some days, so you really get a lot for your investment. I would absolutely recommend Pilates Plus to anyone looking for a good Yoga, Pilates or Dance class. read more

I've been training for a few years here, and have finally gotten the definition and strength I've been unable to get with an expensive gym membership. The people there are professional and excellent at what they do!! I've taken pilates classes and reformer sessions along with yoga and some cardio classes. After trying out a pole class in the city I decided to do a little research to find a pole class closer to home. Pilates Plus in Schaumburg is an excellent fitness studio that caters to all and features a long list of classes. I have been taking The Art of Exotic Dance Pole (spins, transitions and beginning basics) and the Pole Athleticism (climbing & inversions) classes since June. I will admit I was a little apprehensive at first but after my first session (which was based on the core skills that are necessary for learning inversions and climbs in the Pole Athleticism course) I was ready to learn more. I have never felt more confident, strong, sexy and feminine in all my life. Pole has given me the opportunity to strengthen my core and get motivated into working out more regularly. Neta is an accomplished instructor who gives you the tools needed to learn the harder tricks; she will spot you to make you feel more comfortable and give you step by step first hand tips if you just do not understand a particular move. I cannot say enough about Pilates Plus' Pole Dancing Classes or about Neta. I am now the proud owner of my own pole at home! I purchased the same pole they use in the studio at Pilates Plus, which is coated, easy to clean and totally comfortable (look no blisters). With all this being said reviews can be misconstrued and not everyone has the same experiences no matter what the situation, this is just that a review...in other words find out for yourself and TRY IT! read more
