Terrible unfriendly staff. Don't seem to want any customers. We bought a snack waiting for the train and then were told to leave because we hadn't bought enough. Left our food and won't be back. read more

The gentleman that served us was clear and patient in explaining the menu to us, as it was written in Swedish. We enjoyed a chilli and rice dish as well as a hamburger and fries. This is my local pub whenever I'm in Stockholm, which is kind of hilarious when you realize it's not much more than a regular pub with regular pub food. They have quite a lot of beers, which is nice, but all the beers (except for the standard) are more than 50 kronor each. I think the biggest reason young people go here is because of the Jägerbomb for 55 kronor (a shot of Jägermeister and a beer) - a cheap way to pre-party before the club. I will definitely go here again (which I have so many times) but not because I want to, but because it is hard to avoid. Even when I might not want to, I go here. The place is furnished from top to bottom with cowboy references, complete with saddle barstools at the bar. The tables are small and they've crammed as many as they possibly could into the small space they have. The menu is all about steaks and burgers, with "cowboy style" sides like beans, corn cobs and that kind of stuff (my kind of stuff!) I was in a party of four and we ordered a starter platter with chicken wings and what not to share before the main course. It was good but not incredible. For main I ordered a rib eye steak and I was very clear that I wanted it rare. I even added that "it should have a pulse". What I got was medium at best. Orders like "rare" and even "medium rare" seem hard for chefs to nail (or easy to forget) because they always seem to mess it up and get me medium. I complained (which is always uncomfortable when you're the type who doesn't want to be bothersome to anyone) and they got me a new stake which was indeed bloody. I got a sincere apology from the chef via the waitress and also desert on the house. Still, I had to eat my meat alone since the other three in my party had already eaten their main courses by then. That's always a drag. Then I ordered my free desert with extra spoons and shared it with the others. All in all, a pleasing restaurant experience. I would gladly come back!

The creamy corn that is one of the sides is just delicious but the mashed potato thingy is so blunt & dry that is almost impossible to swallow so I suggest you switch that to fries or something else! They have a good selection of different American beers ( ex: Sierra Nevadas, Samuel Adams...). The service was extremely slow but I guess it's not so strange when they are preparing food for 16 ppl!

Overall, I'd say that the food here is excellent. I ate there twice. The first time I had the basic cheeseburger and onion rings because the cheeseburger was the cheapest thing on the menu and I wanted to minimize my out-of-pocket cost. Very decent burger, coming from an American with well-developed burger pallet. The patty was a bit flat for my liking but overall it was stacked with flavor. The highlight of the meal for me though was the onion rings. So. Damn. Good. Beer battered just right. So good in fact, I came back later that week for more. The second time I ordered a Gold Burger, which they tell me won a national burger competition in Sweden. This was also good, but the flavors were not anything I'd crave. Again, good and interesting, but I could take it or leave it. Great onion rings again. I ordered at the bar and had the food come out to me. I didn't eat at the restaurant proper, although I don't think there was much of a difference. I think Phil's is a worthy spot to go for a quick bite alone or with a few pals. There's ample dining space. The only thing I'd say though is this place is probably more expensive than necessary. I do not think I'd be happy with paying for dinner here without my SEK 100 discount voucher. For Americans, that's about a $10 discount. Otherwise you're paying around $30 for a burger fries and a coke. Meh. (Currency conversions circa May 2023).
