Hoxton North Espresso & Brew Bar - Cool hipster cafe in harrogate ... only just arrived and looking forward to the experience

This was one of our first stops in Harrogate, and I'm so glad! You don't have to be a coffee expert to appreciate the coffees here. They are really great. The staff were very friendly and alongside great customer service, the atmosphere in the brew bar was so relaxing. No pretentious feeling or snobby looks (except from the boyfriend) when I asked for advice on a coffee to choose. (I had a climpson and sons Colombian bean by the way, and it was really smooth with chocolatey notes). We were lucky enough to sit right in the window seat, and the decor of the place makes it feel cosy in a edgy-hipster way. The only thing that I'm not a fan of, and it's purely personal preference is the name. Why they had to seek inspiration from London (the interior is also dotted with London buses and tube maps), I have no idea? Harrogate is such a beautiful place, and I personally think they should have embraced their own identity more and been proud of their Harrogate routes! But like I said, just my opinion.

Hurrah for Baltzersen - and hurrah for their stripped back Scandinavian charm!…read more We were in Harrogate for the Tour de France and it was one of those days where we were seriously wondering if we were going to get a table anywhere or if it would be a quick sandwich on a bench somewhere. Adding a baby in a buggie further complicates the situation but luckily with us being "fair weather" cycling fans we decided to have a late lunch and managed to beat the crowds who'd all gone down and grabbed themselves a seat near the front! First off this is a super cool setting - clean, crisp, efficient but friendly - it's all service from the counter where you can get coffee and cakes, but you can go deeper into a menu offering sandwiches, snacks and platter boards. Our mixed board of meat and fish came with fresh bread and pickles and cost £8 - not bad to share between us. I was really impressed with them supporting the local 'bad seed brewery' and their Citra mashup beer was a lovely Saturday afternoon beer - definitely going in there as one to enjoy in the future again! We also grabbed cinnamon buns to go - £1.70 inside where you can sit in with it, £2 when bought outside to take way - I'm not sure how that works out... but there you go, who's me to argue with the economics of the cafe business... A great place that I'm going to check out next time in Harrogate!

Costa Coffee House in Harrogate, has always been the preferred one stop, first stop place when visiting Harrogate Town. Drink in or Take Away, the difference is only by the way your order is presented to you; glass or paper cup. With plenty of seating that covers three floors: Ground, first floor and basement, the initial feel is that this Costa Coffee House is never empty. At times, which is rare. You may not get a seat, but, even to take your drink away to enjoy walking around the town is no big loss. The staff are always happy to greet and welcome you, while offering the latest additions to their open menu, which is getting bigger and better every week. As well as this great atmosphere to step into, there is the cleanliness of the business, that contains in the toilets and services that are of the upmost importance. I would highly recommend Coffee Coffee House for anyone and everyone who are planning a visit to Harrogate (Lockdown allowing) to get a first hand experience of the number one Coffee in the nation.

Starbucks - Venti Toffee Nut Cream Cold Brew £4.65

Starbucks on Cambridge Street is located in the main part of Harrogate town centre, in the exterior…read morepart of Victoria Shopping Centre, as the only Starbucks in the town, and within quite a distance, it can get pretty busy at times too. As a franchise-owned store, the prices do tend to differ slightly compared to the corporate-owned ones, sometimes it can be more, and sometimes it can be less. I don't really understand the logic behind that, but oh well. It is located over two floors, the downstairs area is tiny and cramped, and can be quite comfortable due to the tables being small, close to each other, and people can be queuing right next to you, on the other hand, the upstairs area is much larger, more comfortable, relaxing and spacious, so do go up there if you can. The baristas are pretty friendly and didn't mind answering a couple of questions and cleaning down a table when asked. The availability of menu items could be improved, they ran out of Pumpkin Spice before Halloween, which was a shame. I was also told they don't always stock the Cold Brew as it isn't very popular, meaning I was able to get it one day, yet the following day I was told they wouldn't be replacing it for some time. Drink quality is generally satisfactory, I enjoyed my Venti Toffee Nut Cream Cold Brew, which looked great and was made well, on my second visit, after being told they didn't stock Cold Brew anymore (In the space of one day?), I opted for a Venti Iced Eggnog latte, the barista seemed to be confused and had difficulty making it "Iced", and the taste reflected that the drink had no sweetness to it. I do find it frustrating how this place closes rather early, they close at 6 pm, and close the indoor seating area, around one hour before then during the week, which is an hour earlier than Caffè Nero who are open (including the seating area) until 7 pm. A great brand to have in the town centre, but being the only Starbucks in town and within a good distance, you just expect better. 3*
