To be honest, Lilo Grillhouse didn't deliver much for me on any front. Neither did it really disappoint, or lack anything greatly. It left me feeling a little bit as though I wished I'd stayed at home instead of spending money on going out (though, actually, I didn't - good ol' boyfriend) because it was all a bit average. The service was alright but the food didn't seem to be of a particularly high quality and it didn't come out very quickly. There was no real ambience in the restaurant and I felt uncomfortable. Really, though, it is actually nice enough. If you're going out to lunch with someone you never usually see, you probably won't care much about all of this. Lilo grill house has a curious Mediterranean décor with marble floors and palm leaf plants, a long platter counter with lots of choice foods. I'm not a fan of there's juice bar concoctions and happily go right to the kebab options. Pricing is not overly expensive and will set you back approximately £10 for a 3 course depending on your choices. I would say if you were looking for grilled meat then you have come to the right place otherwise you would be disappointed especially because they don't sell alcohol. Basically this place is for carnivorous dinosaurs who are hungry or just the meat eating student population that want to stuff them selves silly with it. For the vegetarians amongst us you really won't find much to inspire you to make a repeat trip but you might come back for the smoothies. read more

Lilo Grill House and Juice Bar offers a curious mixture of things that seems to work pretty well. I particularly like the juices, which are concocted with a view to combining the health-giving properties of the ingredients as well as ensuring that they taste delicious. My particular favourite is the carrot, apple, orange and ginger priced at £2.50, but I also like the idea of the tomato, carrot and parsley at the same price, but sadly I'm allergic to tomatoes. It's the idea of having parsley in a juice that appeals, (which is meant to be packed with goodness), but I'm sure they'd add it for me if I asked for it... The only juice that doesn't appeal is the papya (£2.30). I tried in vain to educate my taste buds to appreciate papya when I lived in India as it's meant to be really good for the stomach, and it grows in abundance over there and so is a fraction of what it costs here, but sadly I never got passed the opinion that it tastes like blocked drain water... not nice! The food is good and really well priced. Being Midddle Eastern there's quite a few kebab options on the menu, along with delicious things like humous, falafel and taboula for the vegetarians, and not forgetting the grilled veg options. The prices are really good, the surroundings are very pleasant and the service is excellent. The starters range between £2.00 and £3.00, and the mains start at around £5.00, offering excellent value for money. I recommend some of the mouth watering and unusual starters like Mousil Kubba and Meat Bouraq... delicious! They open at 12.00pm and stay open till 'late'. I love the Lilo, great place terrible name. A vision of Lindsay Lohan comes into my brain every time I say the name. Apart from that what a lovely place. When it opened i was trying to find excuses to get in there as it looked really busy. When I finally ate there I had kebabs which were served with flatbreads to share which were lovely. Everything was freshly made and very tasty. It was really busy in there but nobody was getting turned away. I had a juice, which took a while to organise, as there were quite a few to choose from. The drink was served in quite a big glass so I didn't need another one. What was really interesting was the clientele. A large element of the crowd was made up of young people of middle eastern backgrounds. That seems a good thing as it meant it was likely the food was likely to be pretty authentic. read more

The Lilo Grillhouse has always held some fascination for me. Being a City Road restaurant is enough to grab my attention, usually, as the street holds some of the most interesting eateries in the city; even if you don't have a great meal there, it's often worth trying the restaurants just for the different experiences each one offers. And apart from being on City Road, it looks... strange. Foregoing the usual low-lighting, hidden kitchen stylings of most restaurants in favour of a continental layout, the Lilo looks like it offers a more exotic eating experience from the off. And the food doesn't disappoint. Whilst other restaurants are keeping with the in-vogue "variety" idea to cater for all kinds of tastebuds, Lilo keeps it refreshingly straightforward, to an almost McDonalds degree. You go in, and you can order meat, a different kind of meat, or a lot of meat. Flavours? Well, we have a variety of sauces, spices and marinades, but it's still mostly just well-cooked meat for you delightful little carnivores. Oh, you're a vegetarian? Well, we've got a whole dead fish for you... fish isn't technically meat.... As you may have gathered, it's not for everyone. This is not the kind of restaurant I'd usually track down when eating out, but being next to City Pizza, I've had many occasions to glance through the window as I walked past, growing more and more interested by the fancy decorations, as well as the music and variety of smells that drifted out of the door. I used to live right around the corner too, and on one of those nights where no-one has any food in and we were all fairly bored that we ended up in Lilo. It was nice and cheap (which I'm always a fan of) but while the food was well cooked and presented, it wasn't really to my taste and I was disappointed with the lack of choice. The restaurant doesn't sell alcohol, which disappointed by housemates somewhat, but it does do some really wonderful juices. There's one with watermelon in that's gorgeous and I only wish they sold it in cartons. Not really for everyone, but if you're looking for a cheap night out and a lot of meat, it might be worth trying. read more

if there was a minus rating, I would have given that. Their LILO EXPRESS is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The water came after the food arrived after an hour of waiting. No cutlery on table until I had to ask for it when the food arrived. No salt or ketchup or sauces despite requests and when no waiter showed up I went and picked it up myself! The food was burnt and the farthest thing from Middle Eastern food. What shawarma doesnt have pickles inside???????????It says on their menu it does but it didnt! When we finally walked down to the counter to pay and get out of the place, we caught the owner swearing the waiters mothers. The service, the food and the entire experience was the worst in the world. I see reviews here from 2012 and then may be the restaurant was good but now in NOvemeber 2015, its the worst place in the world. You better dump your money down the toilet drain! read more

DELICIOUS food. Random name. It is a Lebanese restaurant with phenomenal food. I have eaten Leb food in many different cities, but this place would have to be one of the most well flavoured meals. The leb place on Edgware road die miserably next to Lilo's. We spoke to one of the employees and told him that. He passionately confirmed that after trying every restaurant on Edgware rd (in London), he had to speak to the managers and told them that their food tastes terrible. My aunt who was with me, returned her rice because it seemed like it was the last serving from the pot. The waiter was very accomodating and gracious. Immediately, he got her whatever she wanted instead and let her keep the huge bowl stewed vegetables that had come with the previous meal. The juices from the juice bar were also equally delicious. SO fresh, you feel like you have done your body and mouth a favour. try the minty melon one. we had lamb ribs, tabouli, grape leaves, falafel, biryani, a mix grill, among other dishes. the price was very decent. our total was around 40, and we had appetizers, main meals, and lots of fresh juice. four people ate and had leftovers. But you really need to stop taking lilos off delivery (on just eat) because one day it's collection only then delivery!!:/ so many times I've wanted to order but had to go somewhere else as you had taken delivery off once again! Had a meal here tonight and got served raw chicken.......not just raw but actual blood!! However before this we waited ages for our starters to come then 2 were forgotten, and also as the starters were being served they brought out the main...s at the same time.....the service was appalling. After eating the chicken and noticing the blood my friend took it to the counter, they took it away the denied that it was raw at all.....except I had photographic evidence!!! The "manager" and chefs then proceeded to call myself and my friend a liar. Once an agreement was met the £30 for my platter was removed from the bill. I asked for an incident report to give to environmental health in case I was ill through the raw chicken.....I was told they dont give them, I explained why I wanted it and was told by the "manager" that if I was sick to go to a solicitor. .....once the bill was settled they didnt want to know. To add insult to injury we pointed out that the 2 children in the party hadnt had their ice creams that came with their meals and that had been paid for....their reply do you want the ice cream in a doggy bag!!! We were constantly told that they dont argue with the customers yet they argued with us for almost an hour in front of other customers and then had the nerve to tell us that it was us upsetting the other customers!! I went there for a light meal and found it was okay, they had a good selection of juice drinks and all seemed fine but I wasn't overly impressed with the cleanliness; so after the meal I checked the food hygiene rating and was horrified to find out it had 0 out of 5 rating! This is simply disastrous when you consider they just had a massive refurbishment!! Regardless of the colourful interior I for one will not be going back there. read more
