I came here for my birthday dinner after having tried the Miller & Carter in the city and I overall thoroughly enjoyed it. If you were comparing the two, I would say that I generally prefer the Miller & Carter in the city, but the quality of the food is still fantastic regardless of which you go to! As a steakhouse, Miller & Carter is definitely on the pricey side but well worth it for a special occasion! ~ Atmosphere: It's a smaller establishment than the one in the city and looks a lot more casual as well, with a small bar area and some seating both outside and inside. The benefit though is that they have their own parking which makes it an easier convenience! ~ Customer Service: Where this place gets rated down slightly for me. Although our waiter was exceptional (very attentive) and our food came out at a respective time, the beginning of our experience was a bit off-putting. We had a booking and came in to meet a rather stressed looking host who said that he wouldn't be able to seat us for a while as he "needs to organise his staff because he's walked into chaos". Okay... we didn't really need to know that and it made me nervous about what was to come. We were finally seated about 15-20 minutes later than our booking time. Really, this isn't that big of a deal, but since I've never had any issues at the city location besides smooth sailing from start to finished, I feel that the Bay location may struggle with organisation. ~ Food: Really great as usual! we ordered a sharing platter to start with came with chicken and duck wings, macaroni and cheese, nachos, garlic bread, and meatballs. All of it was definitely delicious and was a nice start to the meal. I ordered a ribeye off the bone cooked medium and it was perfectly cooked to my liking and went well with creamy peppercorn sauce (all of the steaks come with chips, onion loaf, a balsamic glazed tomato, and lettuce wedge). It was great, though they really skimped on my onion loaf unfortunately as my loaf was about half the size of every other steak on my table. For dessert, I highly recommend the Banoffee Pie, which was INCREDIBLE. I tried a bit of my partner's and was kicking myself for picking the ice cream instead. The ice cream was disappointing as the flavour was very subtle. I ordered the praline ice cream which tasted more like vanilla. --- All in all, I would definitely recommend Miller & Carter. You may notice that all of my criticisms are smaller nitpicky things, and they are. I just make the point that if you were to choose between the city location and this one, I would head to the city if you can. Went here in December with my husband to mark our being together for 8 years anniversary. The decor was Christmasy and the place looked very welcoming. The staff were very friendly and our waiter was a delight to have that didn't leave us waiting too long. The place was busy but we were very comfortable and I loved that we had a booth to sit at. The food was truly amazing. The steak was a good thickness and cooked exactly how I wanted it. The garlic mushrooms were delicious also. I enjoyed the pudding and coffee afterwards. I am a Man. And, as a Man with a capital M, I am contractually required to shout at the TV screen whenever a ball is being moved across some grass, wear terrible t-shirts with awful, slogans like "My Other Ride Is Your Mother" on them and to eat at least three cows worth of beef a month. I only actually do the last one with any conviction. Sadly though, there is a bit of a dearth of steak restaurants in Cardiff. The Taurus on St. Marys Street used to fulfill my meaty needs (my friends would have a field day with that euphemism), but, and not to extend a terrible metaphor, that has sadly gone to the slaughterhouse. The Charleston is a good back-up, but I'm always a little suspicious of a place that serves steak at three AM: I find I spend the entire meal wondering what kind of animal the meat was cut from, how old it is and noticing that there seems to be a lot less homeless men around Cardiff nowadays. So in steps the Miller & Carter Steakhouse. And they are a worthy replacement for The Taurus. The steaks are beautiful cuts of meat cooked to damn near perfection and, whilst not as imposingly large as I sometimes like my steaks, they are enough to make you pop your jeans' top button. Where steak restaurants so often fail though, is in the trimmings. It's usually "Steak, with a side of a potato either mashed, chipped or boiled" and not a lot of variation. The Miller & Carter, however, offers a huge menu of extras, sides, sauces, starters and salads to spice up what could be an otherwise... unsurprising meal. Until Cardiff gets a steakhouse where they run that famous "if you can eat this entire steak, you eat it for free" gimmick, the Miller & Carter is the place to go. read more

Miller and Carter never fail my expectations. After having bad steak a few nights ago, it was so good to have my faith in steak houses revived. I always seem to go back to Miller and Carter to see if the consistency remains the same, and though I have been there more than 10 times now, I am still looking for something to critique! This low-lit ambient restaurant is the perfect setting for a casual dinner with friends, a fun evening with company, or romantic night with a lover. The food: The only thing that u never understood about this place was their special: iceberg lettuce. ??? Huh?? Really? Iceberg lettuce?? Surely you can do a bit better than that? ? Anyway, M&C keep things simple. You want steak? Sure. Just add what sauce you want, and how you want it. Not keen on steak? No problem. A healthy sized list of other options are available, ranging from duck to chicken, to pork and fish. The steak I ordered, once again without fail, comes out perfectly cooked with a charred taste that indulge the senses. This is complimented by the thick creamy blue cheese sauce which accentuates the flavours. Every bite is a firecracker! Not to mention the starters! Each little dish is perfectly built to fill your fancy. I've had nearly everything on their menu now and I can tell you, it is ALL good Last but not least, the dessert... Now, the bannoffie pie is incredibly good! The light fluffy cream with the full texture of what seems to be a peanut-butter-infested base! Then covered in smooth caramel topped with caramelised bananas. It's so good that we even escaped having dessert elsewhere to have dessert here!! I have lived in Wales for 3yrs now and my time here has sadly come to an end, but if there is any place that I would recommend people try, this would definitely be one of them. A relatively new business, it currently remains fairly unknown, perhaps in part because of it's quite obscure location. Situated in the same complex which boasts hollywood bowl, the Odeon cinema and a number of other restaurants, The Miller & Carter Steakhouse sits hidden at the back of the car park. However, not to be fooled by its uninspiring location, the striking exterior and sophisticated look provide early promise to its guests. Inside, it's a well decorated and modern feel, perfect for small groups of friends and families. The quality of the steak, something of a which a steakhouse obviously should pride itself upon, is absolutely top drawer. Miller & Carter genuinely cook fine cuts of steak almost to perfection. To my recollection, this is the finest steak i've eaten in the Cardiff area. Aside from the steak, there are other classics you'd expect to find on the menu, with something like a Caesar Salad a healthier alternative to the thick cuts of meat. After reading the first two reviews here, I can already see the error of my ways: when visiting Miller & Carter a few weeks ago for a ladies-who-lunch special (that's my gal pal Emma and I gossiping over a variety of chow), I ordered the fish, not the beef. My fault, I suppose, but in any case, the seared tuna was a delightful change from the usual doughy lunches consumed at Pizza Express. A three-star rating is in order because the service was pretty piss poor that day; the whole experience was marked by unreasonably looong waiting times (15 minutes or more before our server took our food order, and then another lengthy delay after asking for the bill). The restaurant was quiet, save for another three or four tables, so maybe she was just having an off-day. The parking situation at Miller & Carter was slightly unusual, as well. A member of staff bolted over as we arrived to tell us that, because the hotel next door owns the M&C car park, we needed to provide our car registration number so we could be added to the guest database (in order to avoid a parking ticket). The setting is quite relaxed and the food is tasty, so I'd be willing to go back and give it another try. A prime cut of delicious beef trumps poor service and ridiculous parking rituals, me thinks. read more

My local stake house!!!! (even tho I live 10 miles away) Best filet stake in Cardiff GUARANTEED!!. 9 out of 10 times the service is spot on, they get very busy at times and this obviously has an effect on timing but the place is really comfy and its a nice place to hang out so its all good!!! Price: not cheap but are spot on for the quality, I would be happy to pay more, the steak is that good more importantly they cook it spot on every time just how I request it..... would not go any were else for my steak!!!!! read more

Honestly, the best steak you will find in Cardiff. They also recommend with each steak how it is best served. (normally rare- which is my recommendation) they also have great starters on offer such as onion rings, garlic mushrooms (which are very filling) nachos and more! They have so many steaks available and you choose a side and a salad to go with it. You then also get a list of sauces to put on your steak and dressings to have on your salad. Booked a table for 4 for Friday 17th July from the moment we walked through the door it was a great experience. The drinks were served very quickly, starters were good especially the belly pork, steaks were top notch as always there were different steaks & all cooked as per order. The shining light of the night was Becky our server who was fantastic & a great advert for Miller and Carter, so helpful & always seemed to be on hand.
