I don't frequent consignment shops, however, I have family using this location to sell some items. While I love second hand shopping, usually consignment has me priced out of what I'm willing to spend on used clothing. Goodwill may have gone up in price these days, but it's still affordable when you come across a good come-up. All that said, Lily Kat's has me convinced otherwise and I owe consignment a closer look. First and foremost, the glaring difference between here and a thrift store is the cleanliness and organization. Everything is neatly displayed and stays tidy. Carpeted floors seem like a trivial thing to mention, but it's a cozier feel to the cold warehouse style of a thrift chain. Also critical is the fact that the clothes being sold are handpicked by the store owner, ensuring that they are in good shape and clean. If you're selling here, it's important to know that they aren't buying from you, rather they are selling for you and giving you a percentage of the sell price (and, of course, keeping a percentage for themselves). Items are given 90 days to sell. An initial price is set, then the price decreases on a schedule every 30 days. This seems to me such a novel approach and very effective way to constantly move inventory and keep the selection relevant and current. The staff were very warm and friendly, smiling when engaging with shoppers. It's a welcome pace when one is more frequently feeling that service has decreased in value these days. For me, the way this business is run is the most interesting part of the store. Of course, if you're looking for clothes, yeah they have those too! Super organized store by color, size, and clothing type. I've sold and bought here and been very pleased. I even brought in a pair of pants to find a shirt to go with it and asked for suggestions. If they aren't busy, the staff is more than happy to help. I really enjoy the style of clothing this shop tries to upkeep, very chic. Pricing of the consigned items are fare and there are discounts for items that have been on the rack for a while. The small clearance ($2) section of the store is always my first stop. As for actually consigning items to the store, there is a very thorough process that the customer is NOT a part of. Your first drop off is gone through to go over the basic "standard" but then the owner does another run through and they decide the pricing and what they want to keep in the store. Though this process allows for the store to maintain its chic, clean, and organized standard, it's a bit too secretive to me not to get an itemized list of what they kept or donated. read more

I absolutely love shopping here! The owner and her employees are all really sweet. I never go in there and leave empty handed. The sales are awesome and sometimes you can score things for as little as 2 bucks. As far as consigning goes they are very fair and they don't look for trendy things, because let's face it, the hobo chic style is frumpy. They buy items that are in season. Everything there is well kept. Everything including baby and kids clothes! They have a great jewelry designer as well that makes some unique things. Most horrible consignment ever!! If I could do a negative for the ratings I would. They don't tell you how much they are pricing your items at and if they price them under $25 and they don't sell they "donate" them. The owner is rude as well. Even said that she doesn't like letting people know how much she prices them at so she won't have a bunch of phone calls from people complaining. The website doesn't show any pricing either. Only if you have any balance and that is all! Horrible! Horrible! Horrible consignment!!!! I think you should have the option of knowing if your item would be over $25 that way you can know if you'd rather keep them instead of them being donated automatically. I've heard great reviews on this consignment shop so i had to go check it out. I entered the store, said "Good morning" with a smile but the lady at the cash register looked, but did not greet me back nor give me a sense of comfort as i have experienced at different consignment shops. Despite that, the store is neat, clean, and the clothes are gorgeous. About 3 minutes after i walked in, a gentleman entered and the cashier IMMEDIATELY said "Good morning" with a huge smile which made me somewhat appalled. I brushed it off my shoulders and proceeded to go to the clearance room where 3 employees were behind the curtain, sorting merchandise and talking. The African American woman talked about how at her church the black women dress so nice and classy then the Caucasian lady went on and made this statement..."Yeah, I make a lot of money off yall." and started to laugh. I took offense to this statement so i put the clothes that i was planning on buying where they belonged and exited this store as fast as i possibly could. I would not recommend going to this store because of the service is horrific and the comments that were said. I will never go back. read more
