Ive only been here once or twice the first time i went tubing and we left around 6 , well i went back and it was later in the afternoon due to them not having any schedules on the building of there hours i did not know that they closed by a certain time . i was sitting at the edge of the water not being loud or anything like that and this older man came out there with a very rude attitude , asking me what i was doing and if a walmart door is closed what did that normally mean that they were closed etc. in my opinion that just ruined the whole experience to me considering i told him that i didnt know that they closed at a certain time and that it obviously wouldn't be any problem if he wanted me to leave read more

Read reviews before you go!! This place is dangerous to everyone! The people who own it don't tell you anything about the float trip. You walk up to a little shack and they say $10 for float $5 for a cooler float which is just a tube with some kind of netting tied with rope. You sign some kind of wavier. Not sure what it says bc the print is so small and looks like a sign in sheet. We were motioned to a pile of black tubes and were told to pick one out. This was our first time and we didn't know what size we were looking for. A guy who worked there was helpful after we asked what are we supposed to do. Once we got our tube we were loaded into a pick up truck bed and drove up a hill. There was cows and lots of smelly poo piles but whatever this is the woods. We were dropped off and told this is where you can enter. It's a steep hillside. We had 3 tubes and 2 coolers so it wasn't the easiest decent. We finally make it and get in. The water was cold and a greenish color. It took us a bit to figure out how to tie the tube cooler to one of the tubes but we figured it out. The water there was calm. Another set of people came down and you can tell they were regulars. They had a canvas raft and said they come every weekend. Since they weren't newbies I asked about the rapids/waterfall types things I read up on and she said just keep to the right of the first one. If we didn't ask her we probably wouldn't have known that. It took us about 10 mins to get to the first one. Along the way we saw many empty beer cans placed on trees. I mean I guess it's funny but still tacky at the same time. We approached the falls and no one told me to not hold on to my friends raft and I tipped over and bashed my shoulder and side all the way down the rapids. I struggled to stand and when I did I was in so much pain with my arm I couldn't move. Luckily we were near the 1st beach area and a volunteer firefighter happened to be there and came to rescue me. Apparently tons of people get hurt there per what the campers said who were set up on beach 1. They offered to take me back but I figured I would tough it out and get to the end. I give this two stars because I did enjoy tubing on the calm parts of the river. The views were nice (besides some trash on the shore line and pooped graveyard of tubes.) it was calming until other rapid areas came. There are 4 rapid parts and tons of rocks sticking out everywhere. Since I was nervous about what happened at the first falls/rapids I was scared to go down them but I walked/slide down them to not tip over again. It was cool to see the fish jump and there are a ton of turtles chilling on rocks and branches. I would have given more stars if I didn't end up hurting myself. I banged up my arm and side pretty good. I just got home from the doctors and luckily nothing is broken. I also feel that those people there should explain things better or even explain about how to approach the rapids/falls. If you do plan to go be sure to bring some type of water shoe that is closed in. Definitely not flip flops. Plastic blow up floats can pop due to the many rocks and sharp edges. The pros recommended a canvas type tube. On the first fall/rapid area stay to the right. If you are tied as a group untie yourself because it's not safe to go down with more then one person. Beach area 1 is the nicest the other one has piles of trash and broken tubes just laying around. Update 7/15/202 - found out my shoulder is actually fractured. Called to get information about the float because we were coming from talladega. They do not rent kayaks and they do not have a shuttle to bring your own. I asked if they allowed drinking on the creek and she told me she wasn't going to answer that question. Totally changed my mind. We will continue to go to talladega creekside. I would recommend doing it at least once. I'm not sure we'll go back just because there is so much else to do, but the scenery really was beautiful. Saw turtles, rock croppings and beautiful trees. Some parts of the area were really littered with cans and bottles, which is very unfortunate, but there was a lot of alcohol consumed by other parties around us the day we went and I guess the trash is a result of lots of that. Tube rental is $10 per tube and $5 per cooler tube. They take you to the river in the back of a pickup truck. You float the river and then end right by where you started by just walking up the hill to your car. One bit of advice that we didn't know before we went the first time is that it is really good to bring your own raft that you can sit on or in. We saw people with small raft type boats and others with floats that you sit in with a protected bottom to them. (I think they come here quite a bit and have the trip down to a science.) Make sure any float you bring is thick and won't puncture easily by the rocks -- like a ski float or something. You need something that will protect your body from the rocks on the rapids. The rapids would be a whole lot more fun if you didn't have to worry about rocks getting you from the bottom. We've all gotten some skinned knees and bruises from the rocks. (We rented the tubes they had at the place.). If you don't have a float you can bring, lift your body all the way up in your inner tube as you go down the rapids to try to stay off of the rocks. The tube rental area is a campy place with no real place to picnic. They do have a small bathroom, but it was about to overflow while we were there, so we didn't use it. They also have a hose by the bathrooms that you can use to clean the sand out of your shoes which is very helpful. A few random thoughts ... The first beach is the best. Eat here if you plan to have lunch. The second beach had lots of glass and bugs on it. The last area doesn't really have a place to eat on it. You HAVE TO HAVE WATER SHOES of some kind. Chacos, Tevas, water shoes. Your feet will get cut on rocks and glass on the beaches if you do not. Another thought... the rapids can be tough on people that are somewhat fragile. I would recommend that people who are fragile or young be in a boat and not on a tube. The rapids can be just too rough on them. Bring a trash bag for your cans. You'll need it. Maybe you can help clean up too by picking up a few of the trash items that you see. (Overall, I expected it to be more trashy with some of the comments that I had read on here, but it wasn't as bad as I thought.) This may be one of your favorite places to visit and you come back a lot. Or it may be something you do and say you've done it and don't ever come back. Try it at least once. read more

Such a fun but short float. Go to the right on the first two sets of little rapids, middle on the next, and all the way to the left on the last one. Definitely going again. We took my daughters and they had a blast! We all jumped off the cliff and did the rope swing at the end as well! Plenty of beaches to take breaks on and we caught some tadpoles at one of the beaches! They already had little arms and legs on some. The girls thought they were cute. Limestone is the best place to spend lazy, hot summer days. You gotta be tough to make it down the river. It is not for the faint hearted. If you are a hypochondriac, prone to injury, or just plain ole clumsy, you gonna get scraped up a little. My family and I, 14, 7,6, and a 5 year old, go just about every weekend during the summer. The owners, and staff are country af. Don't expect a 5 star water park. Its like stepping back 40 years when you get there. No cell service. No creature comforts.There are no complaints. There are no refunds. It is a raw, untouched river that flows on private land. There are fish, frogs, bugs, turtles, and snakes. True outdoorsman, and semi pro drinkers only. Nice rustic place. Very much what I would expect when I drive down the backroads of Alabama for 30 minutes. Nice enough people to talk to for a tube and a ride in the back of a truck that surprisingly runs. Loads of fun. Slow moving river. Might not bring my kids here if I was trying to keep them in an uncultured sheltered bubble. You can see beer cans in the water rarely. Awesome tubing. Service was overall wonderful. They ONLY take cash. Tubes are $10/ea and cooler tube is $5. I would use a cooler tube for a child 7 to 10 as they have a net in the bottom. Rapids are STRONG! Swim at your own risk! Fun multi level dive tower at the end of the experience. WEAR SPORTY SWIM SHOES! Those are a must. Take something to put your car keys in to attach to your body as they do not have lockers. read more

Love this place. Been going since I was a kid. Get there early, and rent an extra tube for your cooler. Great place to take friends from out of town who want to get out into the forest or float down a river for the day. There are a few rope swings, and a couple of small waterfalls that you can float over. Lots of nice spots to sit and take a break. Weekdays not so crowded, weekends you'll meet an interesting variety of strangers. Memorial day and other holidays expect a crowd of people all having a blast in their tubes. It's definitely "rustic" in the sense that you shouldn't expect there to be a lot of amenities. You just rent a tube, hop in the back of a truck, and some guys will drop you off just down the river to float back to your car. They do have bathrooms, but they aren't fancy. No food or drinks for sale so bring your own. Get a waterproof box from a sporting goods store if you want to bring anything that can't get wet. The part of the river that you float is a series of bends, so no real rapids or anything scary. Kids can come along and they'll be just fine.There's a ladder at the end where you can climb up and dive down into a deeper section of water, and plenty of picnic tables if you want to sit and watch the divers. Its a blast! Important tip...its cash only. 8 or 10 bucks per person if I recall. Don't be the guy who shows up with nothing but a card. Its a good drive back to the nearest ATM. read more

Im reading other reviews and everyone really enjoyed it but my experience was horrible! I went one of those "lil" falls, flipped over and lost my clothes! Not only that but I got banged up pretty bad (i literally can't sit and are considering visiting the er because my tail bone might be broken) no one is watching so if you do get hurt good luck! I had to continue for 1.5 hrs in horrible pain before i got back to my car. Along the way there were a lot of stray tubes, not sure what happened to those tubers. I was surprised there were really no instructions and nobody even bothered to ask if we knew how to swim. I would not go back and would definetly never bring a child. People that enjoyed it were probably too drunk to feel any pain (supported by the massive amount of beer trash along the whole river) address on map is incorrect, google maps drops off in the middle of the road. Came here on a recent trip to Birmingham, and we had a great experience! As the previous reviewer mentioned, these guys rent black inner tubes for $10 a person. You pay cash, pick a tube, and get driven in a truck down to the water. Super casual and the staff seemed friendly, although as a big-city gal the open-bed truck ride was a tiny bit scary. The river trip is just great. A perfect distance, no serious rapids, but slow steady movement most of the way. Just make sure to keep an eye out for rocks, as they are pretty much everywhere. And lift your butt up as much as possible when going over "rapids" to avoid hidden rocks. Lastly, there is a big sign at the rental place that says "no alcohol" right next to a GIGANTIC pile of beer cans (like, as many beer cans as I will drink in my entire life). So, uh, ignore the no-alcohol sign and feel free to bring your cooler full of beers or wine or whatever. No one is checking or cares. Have fun! read more

The name here is a little bit of a misnomer... I'm fairly certain that they only offer tubes (the old school, heavy duty, black inner tubes) for floating down the river. That being said, this is a must-do if you are looking for a lazy afternoon relaxing on the river and people watching. I was here on July 5th and, thanks to the holiday weekend, lots of people had the same plan. The set-up is ULTRA casual. You park your car, pay in cash ($10 for a person tube, $5 for a cooler tube), sign a waiver, pick out your tube, and load yourself and your stuff (snacks/drinks/drybags) into the back of a pick-up truck (not kidding here) to be transported to the put-in. Overall, the transaction part of this process is simple and efficient. No credit/debit cards are accepted. Change might be provided but I would bring exact, just in case. The people running it are very kind but not traditionally 'professional'... this didn't bother me in the least but don't expect more than a homegrown operation here. I think most of the boys driving the trucks were in high school... lots of "yes ma'am", "no sirs" and generally sweet southern manners. This stretch of river is perfect for tubing. Slow moving water with a select few rapids along the way to add excitement. I would advise against tying your tubes together, particularly for the first rapid at it is narrow and steep. Pro tip: practice the 'ass above water' inverse plank pose a few times before hitting your first rapid to ensure that you don't leave with more bruises than you bargained for in sensitive areas. At the take-out there is scaffolding on a large limestone cliff for brave jumpers. Unfortunately, there were so many people that day, I didn't want to stress over negotiating through the line so I skipped - on a less busy day it would be tempting! read more
