All of my things were pushed to a different area and left there. I had 2 brand new bags with me and MONICA would not pack my items. She did not even give us plastic bags to put our meat in. When I asked she said no the store does not pack items since covid! That was over 2.5 years ago! She had no mask on & was packing other bags. Went here for lunch today at Lina's while seeing family in Calgary It's an Italian market/dine-in where you can buy Italian produce and dine on some absolutely tasty Italian lunch time dishes/desserts We went there for both a lil shopping and mangiamo I had the smoked bison panini which came with pastrami and provolone It was absolutely delish Fresh meat and bread A really good sanguige My wife had the caprese salad and a slice of cheese pizza I don't know if the pizza was meant to have ricotta on it Certainly made the pizza more on the sweet side For dessert I had a cinnamon bun that accompanied my doppio Ilie espresso The cinnamon bun was divine!!! Although Lina does not own the place anymore, her efforts in building an Italian tradition survive. I have been shopping there for darn near a quarter of a century, starting when they were on the other side of Centre St. eons ago. One can eat a lunch at the cafeteria for under $10.00 and it would be hard to spend $25.00. They almost always get it perfect. The bakery is stellar but they ruin the experience by using plastic instead of paper bags, which I consider a no-no. I would up to 5 stars with paper. Plastic makes fresh baked bread mushy. They have an excellent collection of Italian condiments, balsamicos, olive oils, pasta etc. It is close to one stop shopping. The meat and cheese are excellent quality. Want real Italian pizza at home. They sell 00 flour based pizza dough. Grab some fresh basil, mozarella di buffala, san marzano tomatoes, and some good olive oil and you are all set. You do not have to order in the Greek crap that plagues Calgary. What is nice is they are as close as Safeway and closer than Superstore. I purchase much of my food there and virtually all of my olive oils (I have many cultivars) and balsamicos there. read more

Stumbled across this little gem while looking for a near by restaurant. We wandered in as we had a few minutes to spare before dinner. What we walked into was the immediate smells of a bakery and deli mixed together. We grabbed a basket and took to the isles finding some mind boggling tasty treats. Like did you know they make Pistachio cookies?! We also found an isle of small coffee roasters and imported coffee. A few rows over there was spices and sauces and pizza and pasta sauces labeled gourmet. The cheeses, meats and baked goods looked soo tasty. We went home with a basket full of goodies and are excited to go back again soon. read more

Wow.... This is an Italian Supermarket. Guess you have figured that out from the name. It is quite big. It has been around for a long time. What is really awesome is that they have lots of imported goods from Italy. Things that you don't typically find in Canada or at a regular grocery store. I picked up something from here. I heard their hot food are very delicious. They have seatings inside. I guess lots of the items in the market are shipped by wholesalers located in BC. To me it was somewhat strange. I don't know of any big supermarket like Lina's in BC (could be that I am just out of the loop). I did see gelato from BC (I.e. Mario's and etc). During December, they are open till 8 pm. If you need to pick up anything to bring to a Christmas party or last minute gifts this is the place to go. They do have a large parking lot just out front. read more

Just ordered from here off door dash. I was very satisfied as I wasn't expecting a delicious newyork floppy tasting pizza! Yum yum floppy pizzas are my favourite I added some Parmesan cheese and some chili flakes and extra YUMS IN MY TUMS! However, the funghi pizza said it would have a variety of mushrooms which I only spotted one the white mushrooms that's why it lacked a bit of flavour. Normally really great funghi pizzas have different mushrooms so it could amplify the taste since white mushrooms are probably the blandest. If this had some truffle oil or truffle salt or something truffle on it and they wanted to charge me $10 extra I WOULD PAY!!! This could feed 3 girls because I could only eat a third and I'm full and very satisfied. Italian sandwich came cold not sure if I'm suppose to heat it up nothing special about the Italian sandwich though just wanted to rave about their floppy pizza. read more

I am here a few times in the week in Inglewood. Good selection of almost everything. Their advertising on reduced items is a bit sketchy. Today I noticed on their take out cold meals like lasagna, egg plant parmesan, meatballs... there were stickers advertising " $1.00 OFF" placed on top. The regular price was $19.99. When I was about to pay for it the cashier charged $19.99 and told me that the $1.00 sale price was already applied? Seriously? I would call that out as a scam people. Lina's recently renovated but they're still awesome. Whatever your Italian needs, Lina's has it. I come here for their deli where they serve sandwiches, pizzas, soups and even a roast chicken meal. I've never had anything bad at Lina's and everything is freshly made. Their desserts are to die for and their bakery even does cakes for special occasions! They also have fresh housemade pastas, and fresh pizza dough for those who don't want to make a mess in their kitchen. I've been going to Lina's for more than a decade. I must say, they just keep getting better and better. Wife and I just had lunch. The Osso Buco was out of this world-- (dontforget to fish the luscious marrow out of the bone. The pepperoni pizza that just came out of the kiln was the best I've had. Full stop. Love this store! They have an amazing selection of deli meats, cheese, a hot counter and more! I have been shopping here for the past 12 years and thanks to Yelp, recently discovered their monthly market dinner. I called a week in advance to advise of my lactose issue and they completely accommodated me with no cheese in my dishes served separately. The meal is served in platters. Last night was incredible! My gf and I had a wonderful time sitting with 8 other people at a rectangular table. We began with a refreshing orange spritzer, artichoke and chickpea crostini. I could feel the fresh garlic oozing from my pores! A kale, potato and sausage soup was incredibly rich and filling. Next up was the phenomenal lamb bolognese with penne. I only ate a few bites and packed the rest so I could eat the osso bucco with risotto. Saffron Risotto was very smooth and I devoured the silky tender osso bucco with huge helpings of peppers, grilled asparagus and lightly charred rapini. Totally fantasmic!!! Our server and chef were so helpful and we finally made it to dessert. Olive oil cake with rhubarb compote and fresh strawberries with a mascarpone cream. We were also given limoncello which I decided to pour on my cake vs drink. I will definitely book into this event again although my stomach may suffer! Perhaps the second-best Italian grocery in the city, likely competes well with the less expensive Scarpone's and overly-expensive Mercato, but would struggle to keep up with Spinelli. Scarpone's is known to me for its many quality pasta varieties... Mercado's is known for its over-the-top prices... Spinelli for its large inventory in most categories and specialty foods... Lina's for its eatery, bakery and meats. I've not eaten many of their ingredients to a super pasta sauce yet, but the ambience and product layout of the store is appealing. When asking about piquante sausages for my pasta sauce, Poppa turned me on to some hungarian hots and then some Calabrese salami and Italian sausages. But their selection is limited... With my next large pasta sauce their sausages blended well, but for selection will do Spinelli... Took home a smoked bison & cheese panini bun and much enjoyed it. Lina's old skool sign is so huge you can see it from blocks away while driving down Centre Street. The ample parking area is the perfect place for that quick turn that you are now going to take to try a new place to get something delicious to eat. Wow Lina's has gone down hill. We recently ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 pizzas via delivery. When I opened the overstuffed Italian pinini I was like oh no, it has mixed greens instead of shredded romaine as advertised ... a closer look showed that the greens had gone about 33% bad. The tomatoes had also turned :( I took the veggies off the sandwich and added red wine vinegar and it was okay... the baguette was the saving grace. The meatball sandwich .... same story ... piled in greens that have 100% gone rotten. The smell of the greens when opening the box was terrible. We haven't even gotten to the point of eating this sandwich ... the greens are embedded in the cheese and have been heated up on top of the sandwich. So gross. Why would someone sprinkle food with handfuls of rotting greens !? The pizzas are even worse than the sandwiches, to the point that Lina's shouldn't even make pizza. The artichoke/olive/goat cheese pizza is predominantly dry tomato paste and then the items laid out like you would get on a frozen pizza prior to being cooked ... square blocks of chevre style goat cheese ... the only prevailing taste is tomato paste. The pears on the proscuttio pizza are good ... the prosciutto is like teeny tiny pieces of bacon bits ... it is OK but not at all worth the price. Fresh proscuttio on top would make this pizza way better. Save your money and never order from here. read more
