Although I love the market, this review is specific to the deli/cafe. It has a full lineup of Italian pizzas and sandwiches, as well as coffee, baked goods and Italian sofas. I've had both the pizza and sandwiches, both excellent. This trip I had a Calabrese sandwich and Italian soda. So great to sit outside just like the before times. They're licensed and have lots of tables out front. Service is friendly, prices might be high but the quality is excellent so I guess you get what you pay for. read more

Was here as a group of 4 to buy groceries for dinner on a Friday afternoon. Lovely experience. Affogato was great. I went with the traditional Stracciatella (similar to cookies and cream). I also tried the papaya and raspberry - I actually like the papaya the best.didn't think I would. Tiramisu in a cup was great. Always love tiramisu. Fantastic selection of cheeses, charcuterie then and many other things. We bought the pizza dough and made a couple of pizzas with it - probably need to learn how to do it properly. It tasted great though Staff were friendly. Whenever we had questions people were very open to answering them. read more

This store has everything from Italian pastries, deli, olives, pre cooked meals and great grocery items. But last week I found their pre made pizzas to take home and cook. I purchased one dozen of the sausage rolls from their bakery last year and was disgusted with the amount of grizzle and poor quality of meat in every roll. Thinking that it was just a bad batch, I would try again this year and purchased six rolls but unfortunately all of the rolls had "spiced grizzle and other chewy unknown bits" . A substandard product that is comparable to dog food. Makes me wonder about other products that Spinellis sells. read more

My go to place for cheese, huge selection and many cut from a wheel. Other grocery items are more expensive than most smaller Italian markets esp pasta and canned tomatoes. But their selection is larger and a 1 stop shop for fresh foods as well. Worth is if you are short on time and want a good meal to fresh cheeses in one place. read more

Coming from Edmonton where we frequented the Italian Centre, I was hopeful it would be the same vibe in Calgary. Edmonton has a delicious bakery, affordable with fresh samples and temptations. This one has the same staple items but less buzz and community feel. Still grateful for the sandwiches! read more

Selection and quality: 5 stars Value: 2.5 stars As good a selection as you would find at a fine Italian market in Montreal or Toronto - at double or more the prices. Elsewhere in the country one goes to neighborhood ethnic markets for bargains, but in Calgary we seem to be happy to pay a significant premium for the privilege. By far the largest best stocked Italian grocery, deli and snack venue that I know of in Calgary. In an old Sobey's site, they've sprawled out to mostly fill the space with: 1. plenty of dough preparation and baking space and lots of great looking breads (foccacia, ciabatta, rolls, sprouted grain, sliced multi-grain breads, etc.), 2. large whole rounds of European cheeses in a special cooler case is complemented by the cheese and meat counters with plenty of tasters. 3. aisles upon aisles of specialty Italian imports in every category make this venue stand out above the smaller less expensive Scarpones, other varieties at Lina's, and of course the inferior Mercato. What sets this place apart is the joy in shopping: slightly reminescent of Kensington Market in Toronto in the old days, just about anything you want can be found in variety and quality. 4. staff are warm, helpful and obviously enjoy working in such a vibrant customer-frequented grocery. 5. the snack and deli eating area is large and often crowded: their cold or heated sandwiches, soups, pasta and meatball specials are in themselves worth coming for. 6. they stock quality meats and produce that allows customers to shop almost exclusively here and not bother much with the tired untrustworthy large chains like Safeway, Coop and Save-On. On first visit, bought a cannoli that was quite good, and a S.Pellegrino chinotto that seems unavailable anywhere else in the city (Stappi is quite good also). On 2nd visit, bought ingredients for a large homemade lasagna: meat & cheese counter staff member Carmela firmly recommended Barilla and Granarolo egg lasagna noodles, and others helped with authentic ricotta (instead of cottage cheese), several other cheeses, and a couple more chinotto brands to check out (Gasco and Neri). On 3rd longer visit, had ciabatta sand for lunch (too much for one sitting but only $7.50), got some European things that can only spice up one's home life, pre-bought some specialty pasta sauces, and bought a nice 'tomahawk' pork tenderloin for my partner who will growl if anyone messes with her bones. Although rumoured to be quite expensive, to me the prices worth paying premium prices to get the best of whatever. And if you cook large portions, you can freeze and later eat a lot of meals from suitably small containers into the next month! Will we go back? Yes. As I can only 5-star any business after I've purchased and used a selection of their goods, this groceria is well worth it and now my go-to Itie venue. As someone else said in her review, the prices are high, but perhaps she needs to check out Mercato in Mission. I'd say that import duties on genuine Italain products are quite high, but we trust that the quality and flavours are authentic, and nutrition may be less suspect than that of many / most goods produced in North America (?). E buonissimo? Come and do this place, okay? You should be delighted. read more

The pizza is amazing but the ordering process by phone is painful. Everytime I call I'm transferred to the wrong department at least once if not twice. Pretty frustrating.....but I keep going back because of the taste. It would be helpful if there were a direct number to the cafe. read more

I used to love this place when it first opened... then slowly but surely they started to increase their prices (a couple items I used to get regularly are 30-40% more now!). The fresh made pizzas in the cafe used to be amazing & loaded with toppings- now there just okay and often include less meat. Anyways, it's still a great grocery store but not like when it first opened. I also wish they had options for nitrate free meats. And the parking during lunch and dinner is bananas! read more

This grocery store has everything you would want from a family run Italian store. I would've scored it higher had the cashier been even remotely friendly. The prices are pretty good, selection is outstanding, all they need to work on is customer service and it will be a go to spot. read more

I think this will be my new favorite Italian market of Calgary!... It has a very good variety of products, different kind of cheeses and sausages that are not easy to find in other places, the Italians products are all amazing... And if you want to eat there is a great place to have lunch on a weekend!!.. The food is really good, the pizzas are great, and the ice cream is just Awesome!,.. I was excited to take my mom to the Italian Centre Shop. We've been to their locations in Edmonton before. It seemed that they didn't have as much stock as the ones in Edmonton for the shelves as well as the bakery and deli. We went to purchase some deli meats and the service was fine but nothing like their other stores. The staff here did not ask about how thin or thick a slice we wanted. Previously, at other stores they shave a small slice as a sample then ask for the thickness you would like. Not so at this location. Also they do not grate their cheese fresh for you. The lady at the deli counter motioned to their cheese case of pre shredded and cut up pieces of cheese. Which was fine just not what I was expecting having been to their other locations. A good Italian market but definitely not as good as their stores in Edmonton. read more

Agonizingly slow and inconsiderate customer service at the deli counter. To be fair, it was only one woman in particular. There were about six people waiting and I watched her spend at least 25 min with one customer moving very slowly and not acknowledging anyone else waiting. Chatting with customers is great but you can be friendly and helpful while also being considerate of other people's time. Because I was now late, I ended up grabbing some other packaged cheese from the fridge. Later when I got home I realized that although the best before date on that cheese was Aug 1, it was sour and inedible. Total waste of time and money. Not going back read more

Great for cappuccinos and sandwiches!! Also gelato and desserts. I also want to try their pizza. So all-around a good place to come and enjoy a market like feel. Be patient on the weekends, as they work very hard to keep up with the customers. read more
