One thing you'll love about this campground is EVERYTHING! They have a putt putt course, pioneer home to view, marina close by, pioneer camping, cabins (new Cabins as well), premium camping with electricity, onsite store, boat ramps, picnic areas, group camping, shelters, trails and beautiful lakeside views. They also have old school bathrooms and newer family bathrooms. Other amenities include a playground and baseball court. They used to have swing sets near the bathrooms and a rickety wooden merry-go-round but I'm guessing those met their demise in the 90s. I do hate that there are no photos of those items, as i have found childhood memories of swinging on the swings and being thrown off the merry go round. The camping here is popular, and it's obvious why. They have everything you need and enough space away from the next camp site. We come more for the nostalgia, and I love reminiscing over my childhood. I do recommend that you hit the gas station across the bridge (leaving left out of the park) for wood ... you get more wood for your buck. At least that's what my girlfriend says. If you want a supreme camping experience, this is it!

The bathrooms aren't awesome, but it is a campground bathroom so expectations aren't high. I think it depends on where you are staying for what type of bathroom you'll be next to. BUT the bathrooms were clean, which is most important! I can't wait to come back here!

We have camped here twice, once in the fall and this time in late March. Both were unique in their own way with the fall trip taking the cake. On both trips the morning sun greeted us ablaze with colors only to be rivaled by its sunset as the long day closed upon us. Beautiful. Serene. The camping reservations are easy through the SC website and the prices very reasonable. Most sites have a view of the lake and several are right on it. We did notice this time (spring) that several locals booked their family vacation here during spring break. Sadly, several lugged all their crap from home with them: refrigerators, large grills, full-size kitchen ovens, awnings, boats, golf carts, bikes, dogs, and kids. The center of the campground looked like a hillbilly hoedown. People were kind and respectful, but damn, it's camping people! Overall, we like it here and we will return. Got the campfire just a smokin' on my "Give 'em a whirl" meter. Camp here (just leave your sh*t at home).

No one else was around and the breeze coming off the water was refreshing and cooling. The bottom of the lake was mostly sand. It was clean, quiet and the boys had a blast! Perfect stop in a great place!

After walking around and scouting out other spots, could not really rule out any spot that I couldn't get in. The only thing bad about camping is the other people. No consideration for others wanting to take advantage of a relaxing weekend. Packing up and pulling out between 4:30-6:00am is beyond me. Anyways. Good place. Bath houses are okay, just bring your shower shoes. Bring your own fire wood too
