There are several beautiful stairs in the city, and this set is one of the wider ones. It provides a unique and colorful backdrop for selfies or group photos. Upon climbing the stairs, there is a walkway with a small glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge...as long as there is no fog. read more

Form meets function. I'm a big fan of making beautiful things of necessity. Many cities are jumping on the bandwagon these days with public art and for good reason. Sometimes I listen to city council meetings in Hayward. Nothing is better to put a person to sleep. All that bureaucracy and paper pushing and formality talking in circles. City planners complain that they are powerless and the state makes all the plans and forces them onto the city - but the planners can do only one thing extra to any plan to justify their salary - and that is to add public art to any given project. The city of Hayward is building these monster towers that cast shadows directly on the Haward fault - requiring no extra earthquake safety construction measures than if it were built anywhere else in California - but the one thing they love to do is add a public mural to a project. These steps are like a useful public mural. I think the Hayward city planners are feverishly taking notes on how its done San Francisco. Oh so pretty. Look at all the little tiles and grout. Lets not worry that there is one pedestrian collision with a vehicle on average every month on B St alone. We've got our art. I inspected the stairs and they are lovely. Just lovely. Clean and well taken care of and seemed to be not slippery when wet or rainy. For me that's number one. Make sure they are safe. No polished concrete - need something with a little grip to it - and it passed my inspections. read more

Lincoln Stairs is a picturesque short wide staircase displaying beautiful mosaic tiles. It's done by the same artist as the 16th Tiled Steps in the Sunset district. I like how it has 2 benches on the side and one long bench on the top. The stairs are at the end of California Street next door to a school so it can get very hectic during pickup/drop off hours, so I'd avoid around that time. At the top there is a trail that goes down along the golf course about a quarter mile to El Camino Del Mar where you can start the Lands End Trail or if you go the other way it takes you to Legion of Honor drive where you can walk up to the museum. read more

As I was finishing up my hike along the Lands Ends coastal hike, I stumbled upon these stairs. They are beautifully painted and great for a scenic picture! So much character in these steps with the colorful designs! It's beautiful how it connects from the trail and ends up on a neighborhood street. Beautiful homes along the streets! A must see! read more

The colorful steps was beautiful plus it is next to a golf course! We came here a day after Thanksgiving so there was nobody here on Saturday afternoon. There was plenty of parking in front of the steps so it was an easy finding! The steps were not that big compared to the pictures but it was beautiful decor! read more

I lived in SF for 16 years. It was til I moved away to Texas that I realized I didn't appreciate all that SF had to offer that you just would be hard pressed to find in Texas. When I moved back, I put together a looong bucket list of all the things in SF I wanted to see, experience and enjoy and then I asked my friends whoever wanted to join me in checking these off. It's been a fun adventure since I moved back! One of the first spots was to go back to my fav trail, Lands End, but start at Lincoln Steps because I'd never been. My friend gladly joined Jax and I. Met some nice guys who worked there who happily chatted with us and took our photos and got to see and appreciate this beauty. As I document my new trek through SF and post on Yelp, I hope it gets other locals and natives to get out and appreciate the beauty of our city. read more

Yes, I know the eastern end of California Street is where the Hyatt Regency is and where the cable car picks up most of the tourists. The western end, however, is deep in the residential area of the Outer Richmond flanked by this majestic set of mosaic tile steps. It's another artful creation by artist Aileen Barr, who was responsible for the visually impressive 16th Avenue Tiled Steps (review: https://bit.ly/3rRhxgn) and other similar stairways and outdoor spaces across the city. This one is wider and not nearly as tall as 16th Avenue but well worth a stop, especially if you're already at the Legion of Honor. RELATED - Exploring the Richmond? Word of mouth is how I found out about these steps. Rating the steps a 5, but be careful to put your belongings away in your car. It may be hard to find parking depending on the time of day - I went around 11am and found parking around the corner in a residential area. TIP: I recommend parking in a residential area. After reaching the top of the steps I made a right and went on a detour to some trails. Coming back from the hike, someone's car parked near the area near the trails was broken into. Maybe it's a coincidence, but car break ins aren't new in San Francisco. read more

The steps were BEAUTIFUL! If you're on a mission to catch as many mosaic steps, you must come here just to take a picture. The steps are near a private school and connected to a golf course. There's a really cute park with a big playground for the kids on the right after you walk up the stairs. You'll just follow the paved path the the park which is right off of Clement St. There were less than 100 steps so not super strenuous but they're pretty. PARKING: There's lots of parking all over but it looks like there's limited parking down California St which is where most people enter. We entered through Legion of Honor Dr on our electric bikes and rode to the stairs. read more

Another great SF landmark, these colorful tiled steps have excellent views from the top! At the top of the steps is Lincoln Park and the Golf course. You really learn something new everyday. I've been to the tiled steps at 16th and Moraga as well as the Hidden Garden Steps in the Sunset, but I recently just discovered these steps last week. While dropping off the Wifey at work last Monday, I decided to head to Lands End for my weekly hike. I took California St. all the way and saw these steps from a distance and decided to make a quick stop. I was so mesmerized by the beauty of the steps and decided to google the history about it. Yes, I also included it on my IG story. Located at the edge of Lincoln Park facing California Street, the steps date back to the early 1900's. Then 12 years ago in 2007, friends of Lincoln Park founders, Anna Yatroussis and Meg Autry, had the wonderful vision for a complete redesign and structural renovation of the steps that had been weathered, neglected and decaying from the micro climate on this side of the city, which is usually foggier and wet. It was also full of debris, had missing steps and ugly graffiti all over it. Local artist Aileen Barr, who also designed the Hidden Garden Steps and 16th Avenue Tiled Steps was hired to work her magic. On May 28, 2015, the Lincoln Park Steps was unveiled to the locals and it's another civic pride for the City. The design reminds me of something tropical and pineapple fruits; it's very colorful, playful and whimsical. From the top steps, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge on the left and the Tower of Mordor (AKA Salesforce Tower) as you face the East towards downtown. There's two benches on the North and South ends of the steps with the same tiled design that just beams with bright colors. Definitely worth a stop and visit if you're in the area. read more

San Francisco's hilly topography comes with several stairways to connect one place to another. Lincoln Park Steps is one of them. It's similar to the 16th Ave steps as they were both beautifully crafted with mosaic tiles. The difference though is the layout as 16th Ave is much longer in height but narrower in width. Lincoln Park Steps is shorter but wider. As other reviewers had mentioned, parking is an issue so we quickly took a few pics and left. It would be nice though to be able to stay, walk through these steps and explore the area. I learned that it's within walking distance to other places I've bookmarked, the Sutro Baths and Lands End. It might be better for me to come via public transportation to be able to enjoy all these beautiful places in a single day. read more

Beautiful tiled steps in San Francisco! The colors and patterns are wonderful! Cris and I had this place bookmarked. It's located at the edge of Lincoln Park at 32nd Avenue and California Street. The Steps of San Francisco, part 3 This was the last steps stop on our recent SF trip, located at California Street and 32nd Avenue. Another site where the locals came together to beautify an otherwise neglected area that was subject to graffiti and litter, the Lincoln Park Steps were deserted when we visited. Using Yelp's directions, we were led right to the steps and parking was simple. Of the three step locations we visited on our trip, these were the widest as well as the shortest. The artwork is just as lovely as the others and fabulous to see how the community supports the beautification of their neighborhood. read more

Review #113 - 2018 I've been looking forward to coming here for quite some time and since the kids were in the mood to drive around San Francisco with me, I was definitely up for a day of touring the city. We showed up around 3:30 PM on May 5th, and there were a few other people who were just sitting around so we went up and snapped a few photos. While we were trying to get a few good shots of the steps without anyone on the top, the 3 guys who were trading socks at the bottom of the steps decided that they wanted to go up and just sit at the very top so they could be in everyone's pictures. What a bunch of assholes! There were a few other women who were waiting to take their photos, but those guys just kept sitting there and acted like they didn't care to get out of the photos. About 15 minutes worth of photos, we decided to head back to the car & were getting ready to leave along with everyone else. The 3 assholes decided they were ready to leave as well. Talk about rude and inconsiderate. read more

Beautiful steps located on the edge of Lincoln Park. You'll have to hunt for street parking as it's located in a residential neighborhood. The steps are wider but shorter than the 16th Ave Steps. When we came on a Tuesday, we only saw two other people who were just going for a walk through the park so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. It is definitely worth the trip for those Instagram photos and easy to check off your SF off the beaten path bucket list. read more

Lincoln Park Steps - Lincoln Park Stairs - Landmarks & Historical Buildings Near Me - San Francisco, California

San Francisco has so many stairs that it's hard to keep up for a girl from Germany's flattest lands. But if they are as beautifully designed as the Lincoln Park Steps (among others), walking up is much more fun. So much fun that I'm actively seeking them out by now. Because at the top of virtually any staircase in the city, the view makes up for any hassle to get there. The Lincoln Park Steps are not super well known, I only noticed them being on the bus (line 1 stops right there) on my way to Lands End. But you can easily get off here, take the steps and then find your way around the park towards the ocean. Not a strenous hike, but a beautiful one nonetheless (I did it the other way around, starting at Sutro Baths). I love those little hidden gems, they make San Francisco so special for me. read more

If you feel like you've completely exhausted your San Francisco to-do list (believe me, it can happen quickly whether or not you actually live here), there's always the stairways. While searching through different lists of "off-the-beaten" things to do in the city, I came across the Lincoln Park Steps. Lincoln Park Steps is one of 8 different stairways that can be found throughout San Francisco (see more here: http://www.sftourismtips.com/stairways-of-san-francisco.html). Basically, due to the hilly nature of SF, there are going to be some opportunities for architects to use their creativity and construct beautiful steps that carry people from one street to another. The Lincoln Park Steps is one such creation. The Lincoln Park Steps, as indicated by the name, is located on 32nd Ave and California Street at the base of Lincoln Park on the western edge of San Francisco. The really nice thing about this spot is that it's SUPER PEACEFUL and CALM here. Because it's bordering the Bay, there really won't be that much traffic getting here. In fact, especially if you come during the morning/afternoon there should really not be anyone around. This makes parking pretty smooth (not that it isn't already since there's plenty of residential parking everywhere). Furthermore, this place is also amazing because it's next to so many of San Francisco's wonderful landmarks. For example, the Lincoln Park Steps is legit like RIGHT NEXT to Sutro Bath's and Land's end. You can totally make a day trip out of visiting the steps! If you have ever heard/visited the beautiful 16th Street Tiled Steps in San Francisco, then the Lincoln Park Steps is essentially its more toned down, lesser-known sibling. Similar to the 16th Street Steps, this one is BEAUTIFULLY TILED. I mean the detail that goes into the floral design is just magnificent! But what really sets this one apart is that whereas the 16th Street Steps are massive in length, this one is HUGE IN WIDTH. Like you really need to stand far, far away to appreciate how wide these steps are. It's really crazy how I've never heard about this place until I came across it on a tourist website because it's massive! But I am glad that I stopped by because the staircase is just so beautiful. AND it's so tranquil because nobody knows about it! If you want to go and explore some hidden gems in San Francisco, I highly recommend checking out the Lincoln Park Steps. Like, the "off-the-beaten path" rating on this place is definitely a 10/10 because you definitely won't find this place unless you 1. Scour the Interwebs for like the most obscure landmarks or 2. You come across this place by chance. But I hope you do because Lincoln Park Steps is truly worth an "omg, I'd travel 2 hours for this" rating. I will for sure come back and walk around the area more. This place is fun! Have fun and prosper, read more

They are beautiful tiles. We went to the park on top to the left. Nice little walk next to golf course.

Great for photography, but you won't get much sun here. The sun is beyond the trees. These stairs are particularly quiet and serene. They're really wide as well. Much less touristy than the 16th Street or the Hidden Garden Steps. read more

Yet another cool set of mosaic tiled steps in the city. Really pretty and unique place in the city. Recommend visiting the neighborhood!

Peep Lincoln Park Steps after getting bombed on dim sum (like me), or any other delicious eats, in the Outer Richmond hood, but don't Uber or trek across the city for the 'gram. Sure, the Van-Gough style and color-like, symmetrical, and wide staircase is quite gorgeous, beautifully constructed, and a contribution to an already picturesque, but after seeing the 16th Avenue Tiled Steps, I can only dish out four stars. And it's not the artist's fault. The staircase is, obviously, limited by its original construction, and he or she did a damn amazing job. Anyways, other tidbits to know: ***** +After ascending the stairs, take the short path to your right until you hit El Camino Del Mar. Across the street is an entry point for the Lands End Trail -- a fantastic several mile stretch that curves the bottom of South Bay riddled with spectacular views of the Golden Gate, and its surrounding glory. +If you're using Google Maps, you'll end up in the correct destination. +California Street heading west is uphill, so if you're on foot, and not the most fit, it could be somewhat challenging. +The staircase resides next to, and is a part of, the Katherine Delmar Burke School - established in 1908. Their mission is to "Educate, encourage, and empower girls." Word up. ****** Check it out for yourself! Lincoln park Steps is great quick stop, if you're in the area. read more

The latest tiled steps to grace stairs in the San Francisco are the Lincoln Park Steps. They are at the Western end of California Street at 32nd Avenue. In 2007, the Friends of Lincoln Park founders had a vision to design and renovate the neglected and decaying steps. Phase 1 consisted of structural improvements and art tiles for the top benches and retaining walls. Phase 2 consisted of structural repairs to the stairs and art tiles to the stairs, pillars and midway benches. The renovation was completed and the ribbon cutting ceremony celebration took place on May 28, 2015. A great job was done to keep the existing structures and to repair and install the beautiful art tiles. A beautiful public art installation for the City. read more

These steps are located at the end of California Street. We stumbled upon this on accident while coming from Lands End. It was a great find! The steps are located near apartments so there isn't much parking but we lucked out. The steps themselves are GORGEOUS, love the tiling.
