This they did and they were fitted while I sat and read one of the magazines provided and had a complementary coffee. The removal of the worn tyres, the replacement of the new ones, the balancing of the wheels were all carried out efficiently and without any fuss at a very acceptable price. I must admit that I mainly started using them because they were near enough for me to walk to, but now I would not get my car serviced or repaired anywhere else. Richard runs a very professional team. My car always comes back working fine. They have all the latest diagnostic equipment that allows them to clear error codes and generally do a more thorough job than the main dealers. On the odd occasion when a very specialist tool is required they are able to use their contacts to sort out the problem without requiring me to have to bother going to the main dealer myself. They are hidden away on the Nup End industrial estate, map as above. I had second thoughts about writing this review as I don't really want them to get so busy that I have to wait for a slot but I thought that in the interest of the Knebworth economy I'd write this.

They will usually offer you a reconditioned part if it will save you money, which has saved me a fortune over the years. They do MOTs while you wait but it's worth going on a weekday as there is always a big queue on Saturdays. They will take your car in without prior notice, but be warned if you don't ring to book in first then you may find yourself wating a long time, as they are quite popular and get busy. If possible get someone to pick you up and bring you back later as they don't have a waiting room (although there is a loo you can use if you're feeling brave). They are good at what they do and don't try to rip you off - just what you need from a mechanic.

Oakmere services was by far the cheapest and most transparent so I decided to go with them. They were super flexible when I called them up saying I could come in anytime before 12 the next day (Saturday). As soon as everything was ready they called and text me to let me know I'd passed my MOT and to let me know I had minor problems with my tires. Never once did they try to push me into sorting it out with them though. A MOT, full service and brake fluid change came to £224 including VAT! Bargain! I think? The place is a bit hard to find (right NEXT to the bus station) so try to watch the video on their website before coming in. They are open 7 days a week which is again super handy.
