I called today to try and make similar arrangements and to pre-pay. When I tried to call (really that's where I started) , the most bizarre "voice" answered - pretty sure it was the world's worst AI. The AI claimed it couldn't hear me and hung up on me. I tried to call again and did get a human being but it was a callback service. I also tried filling out a form but that directed me to a sales person who wanted to know when to call. When I asked to speak with the same person I dealt with 9 years, they responded that no one is there from 9 years. Since we worked with the owner 9 years ago, that must mean Advantage was sold.

A very lonely…read moregraveyard The Lewis Cemetery is a small and very old graveyard located on Barter Island. A very isolated part of Boothbay that few people venture to. The cemetery serves the people of the small island and has been in use for a long, long time. Hard to tell exactly when it was first started because like many old cemeteries in Maine most of the graves are very worn and difficult to read. The harsh weather does a job on even the toughest stone. Most of the grave markers are small and simple but quite interesting. I noticed a lot of Barters buried here which makes sense since that is the name of the small island. Some had flowers and were well taken care of. Obviously someone still cares and comes to say hello to the deceased. A very lonely and historic place that is a cool place to walk around and look, listen and feel the past. It gets cold and windy here and winter comes very early. Not a bad place to spend eternity, or at least a small part of it.

My family was there for the passing of a family member. Upon entering the funeral home for the wake, the staff member was located in her office the entire time on Facebook rather than holding the door or assisting the customer. At 7PM exactly she came out of her office and proceeded to grab the urn like a football and walk off. We still had 25 guests or so at the service. My wife was extremely upset at not getting to say goodbye personally to her family member. The staff member's excuse was that she had to be back at 9AM to go to the church for the service there. IT IS YOUR JOB TO DO THAT. The following day at the church, I approached the same staff member and asked if we could move the urn to a separate room so that my wife and some other family members could have one on one time. We were told that there was no room available in the church. I brought up 2 places and she said, No it can't be there. Finally another staff member, who only came for the church service stepped in and assisted me. He was very professional and assisted me the way I believe a funeral director should.
