She specializes in adult and child mental illness, personality disorders and the management and treatment. What I think is best about Connie is her approach which combines therapy to work on behavior (minimizing day to day impact of any condition) as well as medication (for patients who need it- she never pushes extra rx's) to manage the symptoms. She's respectful, polite, friendly, easy to talk to and does great with adults and kids. She is extensively trained in medications, side effects, management so she knows what works. She ran a clinic with a well known psychiatrist until his retirement last year and I believe this relationship also benefited her professional skill set. Dr Craig can diagnose and handle most any patient, she's not afraid to tell you what she feels is going on. I have referred many to her, everyone has loved her.

I would not recommend Dr. Carlson to my worst enemy…read more I believe it benefits the patient for physicians (specifically specialists) to coordinate care and customize therapies and medication for each patient. I am on a medication prescribed by a doctor who specializes in a different specialty than Dr. Carlson. The particular medication has an off label use for pain management, which is the reason I take it, not because I'm an addict. I was very up front with Dr. Carlson and provided the name and phone number of the doctor who prescribes the medication in case she had any questions. Dr. Carlson refused to even call the prescribing physician, she assumed that the medication was only used by addicts and had no other off label use which isn't the case. I found her to be very judgmental, cold and downright uncaring. It says a lot when a doctor refuses to contact another doctor to discuss and coordinate patient care.

She was wonderful, no one has compared yet. She did misdiagnose me in one area, but with other medical problems and the grieving I was going through, and the very similar disorder I actually do have, it was understandable, and I think anyone else would have done the same with the information she had. I truly believe had Dr. Carlson not been my therapist and psychiatrist at that time in my life, I wouldn't be here today. I only hope someday soon I can find someone else like her that I can trust with my medications, I've at least found a good therapist. The beauty of therapy is that we can see different kinds of therapists. She was not the type for…read moreme, but she might be for you! Laura fell asleep in several of our meetings. It was awkward because she would apologize to me at the next meeting saying she had fallen asleep on another client... etc etc... it felt like some sort of gaslighting like she was apologizing because she knew it was me, but didn't want to admit it. I wanted to talk about my past traumas and what I had experienced. How can she help me if she has no idea what has happened to me? Most of her sessions were guided by her (she speaks 80% of the time), but did not allow me to speak very much. I never really felt like I could express myself and I think for her, that wasn't the point. Like I said, this might work for you, but it didn't work for me. I always felt like she didn't care to hear me... and I don't just mean my story, but I felt like she didn't care to "hear" me and really hear my feelings, who I am and how I have come to be. I always believed she just talked so that she didn't fall asleep... I really needed to talk about the trauma I had experienced and how I felt scared. Did I need to call the police? Will this partner hurt other people? How scared should I be? Should I move? Should I change my locks? This was not an option with her... with her often saying "you're not ready" and refusing to move on to new subjects/asking me to pay more money for more sessions when she knew I didn't have it. When I talked too much about my experience she would would tune me out. I was never able to talk about how my partner talked about killing me and how I felt scared. I could never talk about the numerous threats that happened, she didn't want to hear this. She is the kind of person where you could walk in and say "I am a gay" and she would never want to hear your story, she'd never want to know about your traumas, never hear what has hurt you, never hear about your family/friends/relationships, she just wants to say ok, moving forward this is what I want you to do... Her guidance is largely spiritually based on her own beliefs... there is no room for you to talk, only feel. When I told her I could not pay weekly because I couldn't afford it, she said "I have bills too" and told me I had to come in anyway. She wasn't even willing to see me every other week. She also had no problem telling me what my weaknesses were. Most sessions were spent with her explaining why particular things in my life had happened to me and that most of them were my fault. There is no space for empathy here... if you want to talk about your story and have someone say I'm sorry this happened, this is how you move on... this is not the person. Laura is more... I don't care what happened and if you tell me I'm going to tell you why it's your fault and then we'll move on in the way that makes sense to me and maybe not to you.. If you want someone who will assume you've had some kind of trauma and just moves passed it without allowing you to talk about it, she is the one for you.
