This job has been the perfect gig for me as I've gotten through the toughest years of parenthood with a generous and supportive boss and flexible hours, but it is going away very soon. Starting up with Christine as my career coach was scary, but just exactly what I needed. She helped me find the courage and will to approach my future responsibly. She helped me learn to accept myself and even honor myself, and to stop comparing myself to others. Since seeing her, I have taken on a new course in Web design, as well as other goals for my personal well-being. Christine felt like a wise guide during our time together. Each session immediately picked up where the last had ended. She never missed a beat. Not worth the insane amount of money we spent on her sessions. In the end, it became clear she demonstrated a clear and distinct bias toward one of us, neglecting the other partner. Kate addressed my partner's goals consistently in every session yet did not recall any of my goals or concerns...in fact, when I asked her about it, she didn't even remember I'd had any goals of my own in the first place. I am not new to the counseling world, having seen some counselors on my own and having practiced as a therapist for many years myself, and I have to say that I have never felt so ignored and excluded by anyone else's practice. She was dismissive of me and the challenges I was trying to address, and she was shockingly unprofessional. I know this makes it sound like I have a chip on my shoulder but I felt an obligation to post this and warn others who are considering seeing her: I left her practice feeling more alone in my relationship and more broken as a person than when we started.
