This studio is family ran and you can tell. It's super welcoming here! Every staff member, from the instructors to the parents in the waiting room are really friendly!! What I'm mostly impressed with is the love, the connection and the passion, each staff member has for every single students. All while maintaining structure and control of the class. There's so many students and it's very impressive to see them connect to each and every dancer. They are super organized, have great communication and always send out emails on updates. I called 4-5 different studios, before I found Encore, with no call backs from my voicemails, no reply to my emails at all and the one studio that we did a trial class with was a a total fail. They put my girls in the totally wrong level class and the instructor was completely unprofessional. Encore replied immediately and got us right in.!! So, don't settle for just any studio they are not all the same. I have a 19 year old daughter and have been through this industry before. I'm a dancer myself, (well I'm only dancing in the kitchen these days lol) but let me tell you, sometimes it is like an episode of dance moms and it's important to find the right fit if your trying to build your child's confidence in dance and plan on having them dance long term. Check Encore out!! They are amazing!!! They really care about their dancers!! I'm very happy to become part of the family!!!!

I cannot recommend Encore enough!!!

I don't know how the actors survived that night, but the show must go on! In the early days, Bag&Baggage was an acting troupe without a home, hence the appropriately whimsical name for their company. So they would pop up to perform on different stages and venues all over the state. Fast forward 10 years and I've gotten to really know and love this acting company which is now based in the 400 seat theatre at The Venetian in Hillsboro's historic downtown Main Street. The founder and creative director, Scott Palmer, and his cast of actors are making some really interesting choices. This season I saw the all female cast perform The Six Gentlepersons of Verona and the wonderful Our Country's Good just wrapped up an excellent run. They have a solid resident company of actors [1] and I've also been intrigued by the set design, costuming, etc. For example, The Six Gentlepersons' set was a collection of moving boxes of various sizes painted on four sides and then rotated and moved in different formations to set the stage for different scenes during the show. Portland has a wonderful theatre scene, but you don't have to be in Portland proper to have a great theatre experience. Combine that with The Venetian's bar and restaurant, free and easy parking, and you have a great dinner and a show combo in Hillsboro. [1] In the interest of full disclosure, two of the actors are my son's instructors at his performing arts academy.

I really like how they have Intro classes to the social dances which teaches the very basic steps and a couple of patterns and then progress up to Intermediate classes where you learn lots of patterns. Mostly I appreciate how they tailor the speed of the class to the level of the students enrolled. Taking ballroom and social dance classes has really been good for building my confidence, self-esteem and stamina. Highly recommended!

But we were pleasantly saved by retrying and driving around, and glad we went. The fact that they do a lesson to start is absolutely charming. There were many ages here, from teens to elderly and everything in-between, and everyone was full of spirit. People were very willing to invite us nervous Nellies to dance, and helping us try new moves with enthusiasm. Made us feel extremely welcome. There is a small buffet of food, and gave us the idea to next time bring a dish. Also drinks too. First tome is only $5, which is an incredible deal. There are three amazing ballrooms. I was so impressed with the layout of this place. Linda is such a nice woman. She has charisma and grace, and is a marvelous dancer. The other room was more for west coast swing. I was taught basic steps of WCS, rumba, and foxtrot. I was so excited! Classes are available too, I'm definitely into taking some classes. People were dressed nice. Everything was so classy and interesting. I absolutely adored everything. There is also parking. EXCELLENT!

We relocated 8 years ago from Los Gatos, CA and were referred to Sultanov Ballet Academy by the Los Gatos Ballet. We loved our studio and the performances; we were looking for what we had in California. Well, we found it and it came with sound instruction and discipline which resulted in amazing productions! Both my son and daughter attended Sultanov for the last 8 years and have danced in numerous Nutcracker Performances and wonderful spring performances such as Swan Lake and Don Quixote. Artur Sultanov works closely with the students and offers private classes which further develop their skills for advanced roles in performances and the opportunity to compete in dance competitions. We attended both YAGP and ADC IBC dance completions which resulted in attending nationals in both Tampa and New York. The training our children received at SBA developed them to go on to other opportunities, both dancing at their schools working toward higher education in dance. We decided to go with the 7 dance package which seems like a great amount. My fiancé and I did 4 classes while my dad and I took 3. Leilani is giving us some great tips and tricks to make our dances look amazing. She is so encouraging with me and my fiancé and is also very encouraging and patient with my dad who does not have much past dance experience. I think 4 lessons is a great amount for a first dance since we are doing a minute and a half and we have a relatively good sense of rhythm. This will definitely be dependent on how quickly you can learn though (my dad and I covered in 3 lessons what my fiancé and I covered in 1). We had such a wonderful time learning from Leilani and now that our wedding has happened my husband and I have gotten so many compliments on how lovely our dance was. TLDR: patient and encouraging instructor, worth the investment

Instead, I wanted something "cool". I don't know how to dance. My wife does a bit... but I move like a rock... We hired Leilani to help choreograph our first wedding waltz for our wedding. The classes were about once a week for about 8 weeks. Each lesson was 45 minutes and at the end we had a beautiful waltz which we presented at our wedding. Things I really liked: Leilani was super easy to work with. We basically told her what we wanted, and she built a dance routine exactly to what we were envisioning. She is also nice to a fault. Sometimes I messed up so badly, but instead of reprimand she always had something nice to say. I've never failed so badly yet have someone complement the gracefulness of the way I failed. She recorded the dance steps each weekly so we could study and emailed us the queues. I think the most impressive thing to me was none of the routine was recycled. We constantly moved across the room throwing in different movements. We got in a lift, a drop, and a really nice ending pose. The final result was a gorgeous routine. Everyone at the wedding raved about how awesome it was. Definitely money and time well spent.
