Please do not take this rating towards the condition of the course. Rather, I am specifically putting this single star rating (should be 5 negative stars), towards one employee who was the Starter on Saturday. His name is John, an older fellow who should NOT be facing the public/guests/golfers in any shape or form. John (Starter) is an old fart that is rude, ornery, and quite frankly, an Asshole to the guests checking in outside. It was very unfortunate for his associates (Robert and Matt) and others, having to apologize for him. It was such a beautiful day and then you have to deal with this grumpy old "has been," who had no customer-friendly attitude. Perhaps John does have seniority among his fellow workers, but that's no excuse. My brothers and I golf at LOT quite a bit and always enjoy the Sunday Brunch followed by a round of golf. We have always been warmly welcomed. But on this past Saturday (04/06/24), having to deal with this extremely Rude Starter was truly a negative experience. I (we) certainly hope we do not have to encounter this person AGAIN - EVER! I hope Eric (the course owner), hears about this and does something about it... Thank you. Mateo read more

Friends had a golf outing at Links last week. The course is in excellent shape. Beautiful vistas to view when not chasing that little white ball. We had lunch in the grill. The food was very good. I will return again. read more

Played at the Links last weekend and it was a real treat. First off the staff is amazing, the ranger/starter were so friendly and really made us feel welcome. We had an early tee time and got out as a twosome which was fantastic. The course was in great shape and was forgiving yet fun to play. As a bonus there was a grass driving range. I highly recommend playing here if you are in the area! read more

Wanted to share my disappointing experience at Links O' Tryon today. I was excited to bring my out of town family members to the course to spend the day together leading up to Thanksgiving. We are experienced and long time golfers. Our immediate experience was checking in with a highly rude employee (older man, very thick north eastern accent). Right off the bat he had a foul attitude and was combative for no reason. We ignored it and laughed it off. Later, on the course he sought us out to tell us in an extremely rude manner that we were falling behind on the course. I absolutely understand this, however, we were the only group visible on the course so it was uncalled for and especially in his tone. It's so disappointing that Links O' Tryon has an employee such as this individual. Our experience otherwise was fine, but unfortunately the takeaway of our experience was our unnecessary encounters with this staff member. We will play a different course next time. read more

Played a round here Saturday with some work buddies and had a great time! The course is immaculate and is turfed with a special grass called zoysia, which provides a luscious green to play on! The beer cart prices were much lower than what would be expected and the clubhouse and pro shop have a charmingly vintage design. As I am currently looking for a regular home course, I inquired at the pro shop about membership. The fees were not outrageous, but without tennis or a pool, I couldn't justify paying that amount for golf alone. Having said that, I look forward to my next game as a visitor! The course was decent but the pimento cheese sandwich really ruined my day. I suggest getting the chili dog at the turn because boy that pimento cheese sandwich was not par lol. Seriously when you play golf the last thing you want is to eat a terrible pimento cheese sandwich when you are trying to play well. I mean golf is hard enough but when you add the extra stress of a bad pimento cheese sandwich things go south quick. Well anyways okay course bad pimento cheese sandwich if you know what I mean. read more

I don't know what has happened to this golf course, but it is in a dire state of attention. They have lost a few greens and have tried to repair them, but the repairs look like they are not taking either. And we are just in May. The course is dry and is sparse in a lot of places. The cart paths look like they have been chewed up to be readied for paving, but they haven't been touched and remain rough. Bunkers need sand all over the course. Small changes have been made like more cart restrictors to direct you around worn pathways, or a painted bench here and there, but the course itself needs some TLC. There is no ranger, and although we are good players, we had people jumping holes ahead of us; we had 2 guys with a little kid, who was playing in the bunkers while we waited for them and her to get off the green. After three holes, they finally let us play thru and to our amazement, the holes going forward were wide open on a busy Saturday afternoon. We love to play this course, but it's being neglected and the prices to play are certainly not going down. read more
