($3.50) Mala Chicken is chicken in a hot numbing sauce. The sauce is made with Sichuanese peppercorn, chili peppers and several spices that are simmered in oil. But, it's been good more times than it's been bad, so I'm going to let them have an off day! What I like most about it is that there's no minimum order with them - if I'm ordering on my own (boo hoo me) it usually comes to less than a tenner, and some places are fussy about the minimum amount of food you can order.

The food here is of good quality - it is not the best take away Chinese food I have ever had, but it is good enough to keep me going back. Their portions are generous, the meat actually tastes like meat (yes I have had this issue) and the quality of the staple dishes is very good (Kung Po. Curry, Satay etc.) Some highlights: Their fried noodles are closer to the vermicelli style than the Lo Mein style (which I prefer) and are well cooked and very tasty - worth trying on their own before using as a side dish. The Singapore fried rice (and equivalent noodles) are nicely spicey without going overboard - if this is your type of dish you will not be disappointed. The Chicken balls are very good - fluffy batter, not too oily and far too tempting to eat just-one-more. Delivery - super fast! While I lived in the US I had a craving for "proper" Chinese take out (east coast Chinese food was, in my experience, very poor) - Wongs satisfies that craving, perhaps a little too well :)
