[[HIGHLIGHT]]A fun place to go on a nice spring day on a Saturday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were lucky enough to get one of the little tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a vintage flea market on the lawn and food trucks in the back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered some chicken wraps and had some cold drinks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fun relaxing atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I scored a couple of nice pairs of vintage earrings too.

this is the second time I have been here, both times as part of a work group get together; both times have been absolutely stellar. Bartender is the same young blonde girl I seen back in August at my first work gathering. She is extremely quick serving, changing kegs, and serving customers, all by herself. She is very nice to everyone and the "regulars" appear to like her alot. both food and beer is VERY affordable...most food items are under $10 and mugs of beer are $6. Both beer and food are great. Place is in the back to order from the kitchen. Guys are busy prepping the food and the cashier was a cool dude with a great attitude and a smile, like he was happy to be there...dude was very polite and nice. Last time in August, I had the Philly Cheesesteak and the Meat Sauce Fries. This time I had the Smashburger and the Meat Sauce Fries. Both times the food was hot, fresh tasty and filling. [[HIGHLIGHT]]One of these days maybe our work group can take advantage of the huge front patio with large lawn chairs and corn hole. Last time it was raining all day, this time it was a chilly and windy 34 degrees.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is ALOT of space to move around inside, with plenty of oak barrel tables, and dart boards.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] HIGHLY recommend coming here for cheap delicious beer and grub, atmosphere and really great hard working staff!

I was actually hesitant to go here because I figured it was just another bar. But, my husband wanted to check it out so we stopped in last night and I am really glad we did. Dare I say new favorite spot? The spot is deceptively large. Lots of seating and open space inside - huge patio - and a side yard. Great for groups. The back patio has picnic tables, the side has Adirondack chairs and cornhole. There are 24 beer taps and then tons and tons of cans to choose from. The were cans of hard seltzers,/teas/lemonade/juices, beer, cider, wine, etc. lots to choose from. They have a kitchen window to order food from out on the back patio. Surprisingly good prices for burgers, hotdogs, chicken tenders, etc. I ordered the smashed jalapeño cheeseburger and it was actually really good. As in - I want to go back and get another one. And it was only $5.50! The food was ready very quickly too. We sat on the back patio drink beer and eating burgers in the sunshine. It was fantastic There were tons of people there - inside and out. There was a birthday party inside, a kickball league gathering outside, and still lots of room for everyone else. I am definitely going back and assume this will be a favorite spot for many.

What a cool place. Hopped on the motorcycles and headed out to check out. Lionheart place was packed. Lots of people having fun, having drinks, playing corn hole socializing the women we're dressed to impress ordered a couple drinks and went outside to watch the action after a little while, decided to get a quick bite to eat, one more drink, then head out on the motorcycles again. Can't wait to come back.

I stayed one night at the Renaissance because I was overnighting in Albany and it looked close to…read moreCity Beer Hall which looked good on Yelp. Well that's a confusing sentence. I walked the half block from my hotel room and saw the lighted sign on the building drawing be to City Beer Hall. The bar is old school wood, long tables, and people generally having a good time. I was alone so chose the bar for sitting because that is more convenient for me and the wait staff. The beer menu was long with a few regionals new to me. Too many sours though for my taste, but those are popular now. I am not going to talk about the beers available because those will surely change by the time you read this. I ordered a beer and checked out the food menu. There were some good looking items on the menu, I really wanted a good pizza after my earlier airport pizza debacle, but a whole pizza was too much for one guy. I discussed the food choices with my friendly bartender and settled on the chicken nuggets and a side of fries. The nuggets are hard breaded from thighs and pretty good. The fries were crispy, well seasoned, and overly abundant. Overall the meal was great! It was Thursday night and they had a trivia-like game that was related to Family Feud so I played that. Might have stayed a little later than I should have but the beer was good. I was looking at the beer refrigerator and saw Fiddlehead IPA and asked my bartender about it. He was not really keen on it but that is the best beer they had there, but that is one really good beer. Later I notice that was the beer they were giving you if you ordered the $8 beer and a shot, which is an excellent value! There was some kind of drama this night. There was a lady who first tried to order Jager Bombs for her table and the bartender told her sorry we don't do those so she ordered Tito's shots instead. Well this ended about how you would expect with her losing a credit card and blaming everyone in sight for her problems. The bartender and manager were S-tier professionals managing her and keeping the food and beer flowing to the rest of us. Guys, thank you for your service! If you are in downtown Albany and you are hungry or thirsty hit up the City Beer Hall.

The City Beer Hall fits the bill. Located on Howard Street, the City Beer Hall has the local hangout vibe for professionals in town like me and locals wanting a beer and a pizza and fun times. The building at one point housed the city's old telephone company, and now is a cool pizza bar joint with a speakeasy that wasn't open when I went. The large room that houses the bar and long communal tables with high ceilings and large windows is like a Biergarten that is works great for happy hours and evening hangouts. Pizza wise, I was pleased with their Hot Honey Pizza that balances sweet, savory, and spicy flavors between its delicious crust, pepperoni, creamy ricotta, tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh basil, and a lovely drizzle of hot honey. I enjoyed the pizza with a Ommegang Blueberry Falls that was a "Blueberry Kolsch" whose crisp and slightly sweet flavors balanced well against the spicy and savory I was noshing. The only downside was I found the service behind the bar to be a bit slow and distracting from conversations with other customers. I felt I was forgotten until I finally flagged for the check. But overall, the City Beer Hall was a solid experience highlighted by their hot honey pizza.

The bar tender, Noah, was impressive and friendly in that he knew his liquor stock very well, and could explain the flavor intricacies of the various types of bourbon, vodka, and gins. They also offer some non,-alcoholic beverages for the "designated driver" of the group too. We watched Noah make everything from regular and "dirty martinis" with fresh ingredients, as well as one drink where he used a butane lighter and some tiny cedar chips in a straining tool above the drink to give it a fresh, authentic smoky look and flavor. Noah knows his stuff!!!!! The patrons were friendly, diverse, and easy to socialize with if you chose to do so. The establishment is pet friendly for "socialized pets" with a water bowl outside the establishment and some free Milkbone treats inside. Keep in mind that this establishment is a "tasting room" with the majority of products from the New Scotland Distillery, but there are other options. Just don't expect to get a Bud Light Draft or food here. The only downside is that parking in the Lark Steet and State Street location is difficult to obtain without some effort, but we managed to park our vehicles 2 blocks away. This is not a direct criticism of the establishment because the experience is well worth this minor potential inconvenience. We would definitely go back there again, especially for the specialty drinks or the flights and half flights of their bourbon and vodka products. Thank you once again, Noah, for a pleasant and educational evening!!!

Unfortunately, it was not a great experience. The bartender served our drinks with no napkins and no lime. Details are key in a place like this. People were loud and drunk, and the birthday boy was saying vulgar things. We will not be coming back.
