I had just gotten in to Albany and needed something to eat. The City Beer Hall popped up on Yelp so I stopped by and sat at the bar. It wasn't busy and the bartenders were attentive and polite. I got a small peach cider and the caprese salad, add bacon. The vibe inside is cool with natural light and high ceilings, communal tables giving it that classic beer hall feel. The salad was really interesting - definitely not your typical classic Caprese salad, but I liked the addition of the arugula. They brought the bacon out on the side, which was totally fine by me. It was a big portion and I wasn't able to finish the whole salad, but I liked the freshness and the creamy cheese. I'm glad I got to experience this spot and I'd recommend it to any beer lover!

I really like what they've done with the food at CBH. Blue Pizza running their kitchen and putting out great wood-fired pizza, among other things (like some CBH classics) was a great choice. I also enjoy the updates they've made to their cocktail menu, including the more than handful of NA options. This summer they've been doing all you can eat focaccia Fridays, $5 per person for a 90 minute limit -- the focaccia is delicious and comes in very generous serving sizes. My "all you can eat" usually stops at the second slice. Special shout out to their scratch made mozzarella sticks which have a great crispy breading and are served with Melba, which is the only way to eat a mozz stick IMO. I love having CBH in walking distance and have been really impressed with the changes they've been making, kudos to Kurtis and his team!

I was excited to try the new food at the city beer hall: Blu Pizza. Especially after seeing some of the pies come out of the kitchen. Unfortunately, the entire experience was a let down. 1 of the 2 pizzas, the blu & greens, tasted good, but the 3 appetizers were embarrassingly sad. The pizza is extremely thin. $12 for 3 meatballs, just okay, the "charcuterie" had a few slices of 1 kind of cheese and 1 type of the cheapest grocery store style salami: nothing else on the board was edible. There was some cabbage? and shaved raw carrots? Not pickled, not spiced, nothing. The burrata wasn't great and just had the cheap grocery store cherry tomatoes around it, and 3 slices of plain bread toasted. Between the service being super strange and subpar (I'll spare most of the details) and the price point for portion/value, I feel like this won't last. I was certainly disappointed and we had a table of 5, for a birthday, when it wasn't busy and our drinks sat empty most of the meal. We would place a drink order, a beer, and 10-15 mins later, have to re ask multiple times: the reply was I'll check on that for you or should be coming shortly. This happened the entire time we were there (to all 5 of us, at different times) and the bar and bartender was NOT busy.

This is a lively spot for dinner, within walking distance from MVP arena. Expect a crowd and to be seated closely to other parties on family style benches. The food is excellent! Very tasty and reasonable priced. Servers are very busy but friendly.

City Beer Hall is such a great place for dinner! A group of my friends and I came here and we all enjoyed our meals! The grilled chicken sandwich was fantastic and the hot honey pizza was also delicious! We really loved the garlic dip that came on the side. I really enjoyed the menu that Blu Pizza has put together. A lot of my friends had the burger which they also enjoyed so I think you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu and their side of chips was also a great pairing. This restaurant also has a great selection of drinks. The cocktail was definitely strong but tasted great and they have a fun selection of beers on tap and can too. Our waitress was super friendly and everything came put together and very timely! Overall I definitely recommend this place for a fun night with friends.

I came back here on a work trip to Boston after having previously visited about a month and a half earlier, and I can confidently say that this is one of the greatest restaurants I've ever stepped foot in. My first time here I tried their pizza, and it blew me away. The second time, I tried their wings, and they were among the greatest I'd ever had. From now on, I will personally make a detour to come here when I'm making a drive to the Northeast. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service.

I stopped by The City Beer Hall in Albany since it was one of the few dinner spots that were open after 9 PM on a weekday. I tried the grilled chicken sandwich, which was quite good. Come for the casual vibe, kind service, casual meal and a great selection of drinks.

I met a co-worker for dinner here. Burgers and salad were extremely well priced and upscale to boot. The salad was especially good, burger was decent. Amazing beer selection on tap. Only real ding is I felt like they were a bit understaffed, I never was asked for a refill on my beverage while sitting at the bar and both me and my colleague struggled to get attention to place the food order or drink orders. The food was much appreciated, especially at this price point; I am getting tired of being abused by fancy burgers in the $16 - $18 range and this was as good or better at a much lower price. Kudos to City Beer Hall for treating customers right. J.Ja

Nice old building with wooden interiors, so that's already a plus for me. Rustic, quaint, with nice beer selection. Another plus. Wasn't that big of a food selection but the portions are big and surprisingly taste good. Those chicken nuggets were fried perfectly and seasoned well. Definitely several notches above fast food nuggets, highly recommend the nuggets with your beer, you won't be disappointed. As you can see the portions are HUGE! And they taste good too! Awesome. They did have a free personal pizza with your drink, . If you are hungry and strapped for cash, the beer and pizza would hold you. But if you want tasty grub with your drinks, you can skip it. Definitely a place to visit again. Service is outstanding!

Food came in a timely manner even with a preconcert crowd starting to come in. Our waitress and hostess were very nice. Our beer hall burgers were perfect! Neat looking place, wish we had more time to hang out.

The street corn flatbread has a strong spicy kick and reminded me of the Indian-style pizza I enjoyed back home in India. The peach salmon was another standout, with the lemon-flavored rice adding a unique touch. And the Chocolate Cookie Skillet is an absolute must-have! Other highlights include the stuffed mushrooms, truffle parm fries, and tiramisu, and the service was quite good as well. First, your Brunch menu and food are excellent, when we finally got our food - after roughly an hour of waiting - I was instantly reminded of why Dove and Deer is great - bold flavors, excellent preparation, gorgeous plates all in a city that desperately needs it. Second, I really felt bad for the 3 people responsible for running an entire restaurant on a Sunday (two waiters and one person in the kitchen). They did their absolute best, were so kind and apologetic, but obviously completely stressed out and frazzled. Tables got up and left after waiting for someone to get back to them - and we almost did too. It's unfair to restaurant staff to put the burden of running an entire place on them. I get if someone called off and you're short staffed 1 or 2 people, but did everyone call off? Besides 3 people? Come on. You have a real opportunity to be a go to brunch destination, my advice is to staff appropriately and give it a real go or risk customers not getting to experience the greatness that is your food - and taking their dollars to someplace far more mediocre. The only reason this isn't a 2 star or 1 star review is because of how hard your staff tried, and how good your food is (when it finally shows up).

This restaurant has a lot of things going for it which appeal to me. They do need to clean up their web information, and with that, the associated Yelp information. Both list the weeknight opening time as 5pm, and yet in different spots, they list a weekday happy hour starting at 4pm. Other snippets of conversation I overheard imply they have to make a few other menu updates. But as per my review, that didn't adversely affect my opinion of the place at all. We did, in fact, show up during the "happy hour period prior to 5pm," and we sat at the bar for drinks, for happy hour foods, and for our dinners. The happy hour menu is vague for cocktails... "well crafted cocktails" will be discounted, but you really have to ask which ones get the discount or not. We were content to order some of their regularly crafted cocktails. We were inundated with menus as well, one of which we got by mentioning it was our first visit there. That had two of immediate interest, the lobster and scallop crusted salmon, and the quail. I had never had quail, so of course I had to try it, and it was delicious (as was the salmon, which I also got to sample). I can't comment on table service, since we sat at the bar for the entire evening, but that was quite enjoyable... friendly service, made to feel welcome immediately, great conversation among staff and patrons. I look forward to exploring more of their offerings on future visits.

We approached just as they were opening for the day on a Saturday. (Slightly after noon) Not seeing many cars in the neighborhood and having the gps seem to "arrive" outside of an empty lot was an inauspicious start but when we pulled fully into the lot, we saw that they had put some work into the place and it had a nice modern look. Didn't get to take advantage of the nice outdoor seating area because the weather was rainy. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated at a comfortable table. Our timing was impeccable because the place was full within the next half hour. Our waitress deserves her own paragraph! She knew the menu inside and out and had tremendous pride in the food served and the awards they've won! Illusive is a "foodie" restaurant, every dish is elevated yet remains unfussy. For appetizers, we shared the street corn dip and tater tot poutine. The street corn dip was creamy and zesty. The tater tot poutine was revelatory, the cheese was melted perfectly, the gravy wasn't some jarred nonsense, and the tots themselves were crispy. I enjoyed the different textures of it, some more cheesy and some more gravy. My wife enjoyed a chicken Caesar salad and my daughter enjoyed a grilled chicken pesto sandwich. Her sandwich was a nice enough portion that she finished it leftover for dinner! I enjoyed the buffalo lemon pepper wings, the sauce was a nice blend of heat and zesty flavor. I appreciated the amount of wings they served, some restaurants are going for "shrinkflation" but Illusive provides a full portion! We received quality and personable service throughout a delicious meal, we will gladly return!

It wasn't necessary but with a larger crowd it is a must if you are expecting to get seated otherwise you may just have to rely on luck. We had a variety of eaters in our group but Savoy was able to accommodate all. Appetizers. Soups, salads, burgers, and even hotdogs most menu items can be customized to be made vegan. This often means omitting the cheese. And here is where I think this should have been a five star experience but they lost me on this... burgers can substitute a Beyond patty for an additional $3, infact, the only burger on the menu made entirely vegan is the "Far Beyond Lark" with fries which was price at $24. Literally the most expensive burger on the menu. It's 2026, the cost of Beyond or Impossible meat is almost the same as beef. Why are vegans still being penalized to pay a higher price when dining out? If anything make the vegan burger the same price as the others and add a $1 substitution fee to make any of the others vegan with vegan cheese, Beyond burger patty, and vegan mayonnaise. Just a thought. All the burgers come on a lovely toasted brioche bun but because it contains egg, the vegan substitute is a sad gluten free bun of dispare and remorse. The cauliflower wings were delicious, I got Nashville Hot but something in them almost gave me Indian food vibes like a curry of some kind? The fries are the absolute best, I love a basket of good hand cut French fries. The guys at the table who ordered their burgers enjoyed them, although they needed extra napkins but that's not always a bad thing. Overall, great experience! I would love to go back. I hope to see in the future a menu change to be more inclusive of customers on a plant-based diet considering their health and not how deep their pockets are.

The French onion soup was what I was most excited about, however it was not soup. It was soggy bread covered with cheese. I ate the duck off the dish and told the server that this was not what I thought I was ordering. If it tasted delicious I would of course look past other things, but it was inedible.
