Do not recommend going! First time client and I asked for a medium fade and a little off the top...I ended up with a high and tight interpretation of a fade! I also noticed that the barbers turn you away from the mirror as to not see their work until the very end, I hope the shop starts to disclose to customers that certain cuts are outside of certain barber's professional scope. read more

First time client. Moved to the area two years ago and have always been in search of a solid local small business Barber Shop. Was Super stoked to find out about Lionshead. The website was pretty straight forward and easy to navigate and schedule an appoint. I drove about 40-45 minutes from Yorktown to Lionshead. The Barber Shop itself is pretty dope with good vibes and its own personal touch and style with the interior. When scheduling the same day appointment I selected the "first available option" and was slotted for an appointment with Amanda. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or if it was something I did, but my initial interaction with her was substandard. Amanda's attitude and communication skills were absolutely substandard and a poor reflection of the rest of the barbers and the business itself. The Vibe I got from Amanda was as if this scheduled appointment was an inconvenience to her or a punishment. When asking me what / how I wanted my hair cut she was very short and consistently cutting me off. Answers and responses to her questions were met by Amanda treating / acting like I was a retard, too the point where once the haircut began I had no motivation or desire to attempt to communicate or hold any type of conversation with her. Overall the haircut was adequate at best, something a customer could find at a standard chain shop like sports cut, but probably without the attitude and negative interaction. Upon completing my haircut I paid the $30 standard fee and provided a $10 tip (my average tip to any barber) by no means do I believe Amanda deserves any type of additional financial accolades for showcasing her negative attitude and sub standard communication skills. As I sat in my car in the parking lot, I observed Amanda rush out to her car and drive off. I am really hoping she was just having a bad day because I find it hard to believe that the overall customer retention rate would be as high as it is if all barbers at Lionshead consistently conducted business in a similar fashion as Amanda. As much as I love supporting small local business, I will not be returning to this particular barber shop, nor will I be recommending their services to friends / associates. However, this business is clearly doing something right based on the overall amount of customers it has, and an assumed positive retention rate for returning clients. Unfortunately my experience with Amanda had the exact opposite results that any business owner would strive for. read more

Took my grandson there for a cut that every other shop we've tried had completely screwed up. They did his beloved fade up faux hawk and he made it clear that Lionshead is his favorite shop. I cant say enough about this place. The staff is friendly, cool and do a killer job. This is not you dads barber shop. It's also not some yuppie salon with cucumber water and incense, NOPE. It has a cool laid back kind of vibe, you know that kind of vibe you find at you local bar or favorite hang outs, were you feel at home. Music always hip and cool , sure some times it's not my taste but it not elevator music or some crap you hear at Walmart, it's always cool.. My barber is Andy and he kicks a$$. Big John and Aaron, the main co-owners are hands down masters of their craft. If you book them with enough notice you're going to leave with an amazing haircut. But to get an appointment with Big John you need to book him at least 2 weeks in advance if you want a particular time. The rest of the staff are all great and talented barbers, and are always readywalk-ins as long as your willing to wait. Andy is also a skilled barber that's available to book in advance as well. A good barbershop is hard to come by. However when you find THE ONE. It becomes a second place. For four years I've made the switch over from going to a stylist to a barber. In that time I've tried out several barbers. First spot, was great, but one, all walk-ins only and cash only too. Great barbers, sadly it was way too far for me to go. Second spot was a walk down from work, appointments and cash only. An old guy that learned to cut my hair. Unfortunately, he made one mistake and I couldn't go back there. Finding a good barber is all about networking. Word of mouth is key and social media is a friend. I was suggested Lionshead Barbershop from a work acquaintance. I checked them out and they seem legit. What's humbling is I checked out their work on their Instagram, followed their barbers and some followed back immediately. Pretty shocking b/c I've never met them before. I was simply appreciating their craft. What convinced me to make an appointment was their location and their barbers. The appointments are a plus b/c you can cut your waiting time and know when you're getting cut. The atmosphere is pretty chill and welcoming. Waiting area has seating and the music is great! I've only been there twice (morning and near closing time) and both times were not that busy. What makes a barbershop great is when the barbers enjoy what they do and have fun. Conversations can carry throughout the whole shop! They have drinks (Red Bull) and product for sale, takes cash and card and lots of reading material (if you don't have your phone to galavant). I dig the culture they have there and I suggest anyone to try it out. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments get seen quicker. If you're hungry there's Jessey's Taqueria and amazing place for Mexican food. If you're feeling lucky check out the new Tattoo shop next door, Port 13 Tattoo. I've tried a handful of barbershops in the area this past year in search of the perfect one. I always left those butchers very unsatisfied; looking like I lost a match to "Brutus the Barber Beefcake." Well, some were ok but I wasn't happy enough to become a repeat customer. Then I discovered Lion's Head Barbershop and boy was I glad I did. I first went in as a walk-in client to have my haircut corrected from a butcher I had seen the previous day. I was tended to immediately. While sitting in the chair I could tell that the staff there knew what they were doing and they cut hair well. There wasn't much the barber could do with the mess on my head but he did what he could. He even said that he wouldn't charge me for the cut but I generously tipped him anyways. I told myself that when my hair gets long enough for another cut, I'll know where to go. When that time came for a haircut I went there hoping to get a cut from Aaron or Big John. I liked what I saw from them the last time I was there and from browsing the Lion's Head IG page. But I didn't make an appointment and their waiting list was like 2 weeks out so I took the next available barber. I'm kinda glad it worked out that way because I found the my barber. Amanda is very attentive to what you're looking for and takes her time to make sure you're happy. Not only do you get a good cut, you get great conversation as well. I've seen her 3 times so far and was very satisfied each time. I now consider her my personal barber. On my drive home from Lion's Head I find myself looking in my rear view mirror because I'm so happy with my new cut. I'm sure everyone who leaves there does the same thing. Lion's Head Barbershop is a place I highly recommend if you're in need of a good cut. The staff there are well experienced, very friendly, and the place has a good atmosphere. So I was referred by a friend to check this place out..in particular the barber Andrew Kelly, I spot a Mohawk and I had let it go longer then I should have so it was rather bushwhacked and over grown....much to long on the top for my taste; so I decided to give Lion's Head a try. Let me tell you! It was well worth the 20 min drive out to see Andrew! I was in and out of his chair quick, my Mohawk is better the I have seen it in a very long time! He gave it razor sharp clean edges from front to back, the top is now even and spike ready for putting into the full on Mohawk style! I will continue to go back to Lion's Head barbershop to see Andrew for my hair care needs. He's one bad A$$ barber!! read more
