I have suffered from back pain for many years. It's usually not debilitating, but sometimes it is. For example, it was so bad about 20 months ago that I couldn't walk for almost ten days without excruciating pain. I am probably over athletic for my age. I've been working out with trainers for years. Unfortunately, a month ago the fellow I've been working with at a gym had me on a back press machine that was loaded up with too much weight, and ouch! I've been in bad shape since then. I was able to walk, but the first two weeks were constant pain, and I hardly got up during the first week. My problem was compounded by the fact that I was on vacation traveling and found myself in Sarasota FL not having the good time that I'd been looking forward to. Over the last 50+ years, I've seen many chiropractors. When I couldn't walk a while back, the chiropractor I was working with and happy with, told me that my pain was beyond anything he could handle. I looked over the reviews for multiple chiropractors in Sarasota, and Charlie Liott's stood out as the most impressive among those near where I was staying. I saw Charlie for the four days I had remaining in my time in Sarasota during which his office was open. His diagnostic process and treatments began to help me immediately. So, it turned out to be fortuitous for me to be in his neighborhood. He gave me the precise diagnosis I've been looking for over these many years, "Facet Hypertrophy." This is a fancy name for a pinched nerve, and it's not something you want to have! Finding an alternative medicine from a reputable doctor is truly tricky and can be overwhelming. Well, let me share with you, that Dr. Liott and his staff are the golden standard and Sarasota is extremely lucky to have this practice in our community. Dr. Liott is a professional, attentive and dedicated chiropractor. He always makes sure you are seen and cared for, he listens, and adjusts to ensure that your pain is relieved or eliminated. He takes the time each visit to talk with you and make sure you are improving or if you have had any issues. His staff is just as wonderful as he is. All of the technicians and the front end staff are positive and helpful. This is the second experience with this practice and I can't seem to say enough thank you to each of them. I don't usually review non-travel venues and vendors unless its exceptional and an exemplary situation........ My Google review says it all: "I have been reluctant to post a review for Dr. Liott's practice after seeing all these other reviews and going to the office now for the last few months after we moved here? But, its the right thing to do. Chiropractic for my wife and I is a significantly important lifestyle and health service. Rank #1 due to our active lifestyles, and of course life which has dealt us herniated discs and major car accidents. ((frown)) and yes we are getting a bit older and need direction, guidance, good maintenance but ALSO prevention and pain and injury avoidance. Dr. Liott is a health coach and mentor as WELL a practitioner and "mechanic" for our life chassis. Over the months he has also become a friend. The absolute best chiropractic care I've ever had, and since I'm 70, I've had my share of chiropractic assessments and treatment. Charley ( he prefers this to Dr.Liott) was extremely thorough in his pre-treatment exam and provided exceptional care throughout my stay. I'm from South Carolina so I can't continue under his care, but I will be back next winter to see him again. I'm so happy I found this place. Dr. Liott and his associates are great. I went there after calling around to several officers looking for someone who would take a new client on a Friday afternoon. They had no issues accepting me. I basically was a walk in and they found a way to take care of me. The first time I went the doctor he took a lot of time to assess my situation. He adjusted me and gave tips on how to help my injury. The staff was so helpful too. Oddly, the doctors don't take the same insurance so after a few sessions they switched me to Dr. Liott. Each time I go I'm greeted with a smiling and friendly staff. The doctor adjusts what I need, I get some heat treatment and I'm on my way. I went to Dr Liott as a last resort after a stem cell procedure for a torn tendon in my right shoulder. My shoulder was not moving and I couldn't even do my hair or unbuckle by bra. The PT the doctor sent me to was too busy, with too many patients. They just did not give me any attention and just did not care. I went to Dr.Liott after suffering from a hyperextension of my neck from sleeping wrong. I was in so much pain for days, and I could barely move and the pain was shooting, intense and debilitating. As the result of traumatic lower back injury, I have getting chiropractic care since 1979 in four different states. About four months ago I woke up one morning with neck and shoulder pain on my left side, which I had never experienced before. This pain has become chronic, causing simple ADL's to be difficult to do without experiencing pain. Over this time, the pain worsened and has begun to spread down my left forearm into my hand and fingers. I would experience a tingling sensation multiple times a day. After getting a cervical spine MRI, I went to a cervical spine orthopedic surgeon with 40+ years of experience. Upon examining me and studying the MRI scans, all he could offer was for me to take as good of care of my neck as possible and just try to manage the pain as best I could. Needless to say, I was pretty depressed at this point and still in chronic pain. Fortunately for me while visiting the Sarasota, FL area, a family member told me about Dr. Liott. Desperate for help I made an appointment. After my initial exam, Dr. Liott confidently said that my problem was not only quite fixable, but I would be back to my former active lifestyle within 4-6 weeks. I could not believe the turnaround in my prognosis! Because I was going to be in the area for only a week, he made sure that I could see him every day for intense therapy and chiropractic adjustments. To use his words, he said "let's attack this". As a result of my education and vocation, I am now a retired R&D chemist with 40+ years of experience at the lab bench. From decades of poor posture from stooping over a lab bench, the vertebrae of my cervical spine became degenerated resulting in thinning discs and bone spurs, which ultimately resulted in chronic aching from pinched nerves. Using his vast experience and unique expertise, Dr. Liott was able to not only pinpoint the problem on my first visit, but also told me how to fix it. In addition to spinal adjustments, he gave me a variety of posture-correcting, core-strengthening exercises to do every day. I could not believe the difference I was feeling after one week! I am now getting back my former life. In my opinion, Dr. Liott possess the entire package. I highly recommend Dr Smith! I've seen many chiropractors over the past 20 yrs and this was definitely one of the best and most thorough adjustments I have gotten. Plus they took me right away, same day. There is this one part of my back that is very tight and most chiros I go to, can't even get it to move. But Dr Smith got it! This is such an exciting post for me to write. I went to see Dr Charlie Liott for an adjustment for my neck/shoulders as I work on the computer all day. I mentioned to him that my left foot was crushed by my horse years ago and I was scheduled to have the bones fused by my orthopedic surgeon in December 2019. A surgery for which I would have to be out of work for 6 + weeks. I own a business and it is our sole source of income. I have been terrified of doing the surgery, but scheduled it as the pain had become too much to handle. Dr Liott asked if he could work on my foot, I was concerned about the pain, but was happy to let him. I have been in pain since 2002-2003 when this occurred and it has become worse over time. After our first session Dr Liott manipulated my foot gently and the pain was gone. GONE. I have been for several sessions and I have waited to see if the pain would return or if this was something temporary. It is not. He has fixed my foot by realigning the bones and restoring mobility. I will be cancelling my December surgery for foot fusion, and I am back to being able to do things that I have not been able to do for many years. I cannot express how grateful I am to Dr Liott and his staff. I will continue to follow up with him going forward. I am grateful beyond words. I went to Dr. Liott with a severe pain in my lower back. Looking at my symptoms the doctor suggested that I get a MRI done as he thought I might have a herniated disc and he was correct. The MRI stated I have a herniated disc (in my L5). So Dr. Liott started treating me accordingly with muscle stimulation techniques and back pressure adjustments. After my second session, the pain in my back went from an 8 to a 4 (on a scale of 10) within 5 days. I would highly recommend Dr. Liott to anyone with lower back problems. This is my first time posting a review, ever. I myself work in a medical environment, therefore I understand office hours, and scheduling appointments. I also, work along side Doctors; I understand chiropractors are not Doctors. However, I was under the impression they would have still have to abide by the same code of ethics when treating patients with an emergency? Chiropractor Liott, agreed to see my mother, to treat her injured back while she was on vacation in Florida. Chiropractor Liott called my mother while she was en route ( during their open business hours until 2 ) it was 12:43pm while she was in her taxi there. Chiropractor Liott, proceeded to say he was closing early because he wants to go to the gym!? Therefore, refusing to treat my mother while she was in pain, for his own personal gain! She explained she was less than 5 mins away and he didn't care, he had to go to the gym instead! Way to hold up your commitment to treat and heal your patients! He left my mom with a huge taxi fare for a round trip for nothing. This sounds like an extremely, unprofessional practice and practitioner. If I could give zero stars, I would. To everyone looking for a professional chiropractor, please do research before making an appointment with this office. I was seen by Dr. Smith, and he absolutely ruined my back. I am in my early twenties, and now have a long road to full recovery from this doctor being unprofessional. I guess I should have known not to allow Dr. Smith to provide his services when he did not order x-rays or any other sort of imaging before cracking my back. I basically had to to tell him to order x-rays and further imaging after weeks of telling him that my back was only getting worse. Due to this negligence, I now have a herniated disc that was caused by Dr. Smith and am out quite a bit of money from paying the copayments twice a week. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE. Ask your regular doctor for recommendations, because they would never recommended this place. UPDATE: To clarify some things said by the "owner". I was blindly adjusted in the morning, I came home and felt sore. Later that night, I bent down to pick up my six pound cat and fell to the floor because my back gave out. (Pretty sure a six pound cat doesn't have the power to exacerbate any situation). The next day I was in nauseating pain and had to leave work to go back to this office. Still, no imaging was done. After three or four weeks of seeing this doctor, I had to tell the professional to do imaging on my own back, which is unacceptable. Imaging should have been done on my second visit, when I was in so much pain. Instead, this doctor continued to adjust my back blindly until I forced the situation and told him to x-ray my back. When he did, he said nothing was found so I continued to tell him that further imaging should be done. Then, and only then, was I sent for an MRI and provided the results to my regular doctor. read more

I'm posting this review on behalf of my 46 year old wife. We spend the winters here in Sarasota and really enjoy the area. When my wife starting having a pain in her shoulder and arm she knew it was time to get a "tune up" from a chiropractor. Hers is 1590 miles north of here so that wasn't going to work. A friend of ours recommended Dr. Liott. I found there website and requested an appointment right online. They responded that night with an appointment for the next day. The office was very organized and the people at the desk were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We immediately felt right at home. All of the rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was very professional. Dr. Liott listened to my wife and treated her like a longtime patient. After only two visits, he shoulder and arm are good as new. Dr. Liott even suggested some simple exercises to do at home to help avoid future issues. All in all, a very good bunch of people there. After being treated by my family doctor, a physical therapist, my local chiropractor and a well respected reconstructive orthopedic doctor for lower back pain. I left N.J. heading for Venice FL. to hopefully enjoy a Warmer climate with the same back pain I had for the last two and a half months. My local chiropractor gave me a list of recommended chiropractors down in FL. and after a couple of more weeks of pain I decided to contact one of the doctors that was on the list, so I contacted Dr. Liott 's office. In the very first visit he recognized that the sharp lower back pain was coming from my left hip area (I had zero range of motion) After that session the sharp pain no longer existed. As a result of multiple treatment (6 to be exact) my range of motion in the left hip improved and the pain on the right side of my lower back lessoned, so I could enjoy the rest of my vacation. I have religiously continued to do the stretching exercises, and my lower back as well as my flexibility has improved. With all that being said, Dr. Liott provided the most professional health care, and identified the problem and totally focused on my injury, and highly recommended on going maintenance. As far as his staff goes, we all know that everything starts at the top and works its way down, and I must say that his entire staff is a reflection of his professional personalized care, and I felt it from every individual of his staff. The Staff are great, seem to be caring and considerate. My treatment was as expected. The problem is their billing. I went to the office three times a week for six weeks. Was assured I was covered 100% because I had met my deductible and co-pays. Each time I checked out, and scheduled next appointment, I was never told there was any outstanding balance. At the beginning of year, I stopped going, because new year, new deductible. Then WHAM, they send me a bill for over $1100, I cant believe it! What happened! Apparently my insurance doesn't cover some of the "therapies" which they would have been aware of from the very first billing. But they continued to prescribe these treatments with out informing me of accruing charges! read more
