I was in Berlin for a few days and looking for a relaxation experience that would not take too long. I stumbled upon the Liquidrom and was intrigued to try it out. I started out with a massage (which was interesting because I don't speak any German and the massage therapist didn't speak any English!). Needless to say, the massage wasn't the best ever since I couldn't really tell the massage therapist what I wanted. The actual main room with the saltwater pool is pretty cool. There are pool noodles there to grab and then you float on them and listen to the chill music being piped in to the pool. I took one star off because I didn't like that I had to pay extra to borrow towels and a bathrobe while I was there. It was a unique experience at the Liquidrom and I really liked going there to relax in the large pool! read more

I am back in Berlin for the week and decided to treat myself to a few spa experiences. During my research I honed in on 2 spas in particular (and I'll write a review for both) - Liquidrom and Vabali. I went to Vabali first, and Liquidrom second. Liquidrom: The pool is within a quick walk from the U Bahn. It's a cool building (though the spikes belong to Tempodrom, not the pool portion). Upon checking in and getting changed in the locker room, I felt like it was basic, but functional. Their shower gel in the showers is nothing special or premium, but it works. Once showered, you enter a long hallway. And this is where the confusion begins. There is not a lot to do here. It's bizarrely disjointed since it's partially clothed partially nude. The clothed portion is the salt water pool. This is what you're paying €22.50 for 2 hours for. It's one pool (and I guess a tiny outside pool to sit in, but you'll mingle with nude people from the spa, if you're expecting to stay clothed). I think this whole space would make a lot more sense if they don't upcharge you for the spa, but make it one holistic no clothing experience for the full pool and spa. The pool itself is decent. It's moody with LED lighting and music playing. But it's not really that big. And it's circular, so I am not really sure what you're supposed to do here for 2 hours. It's the only thing you've payed for (other than optional massages and whatnot). Anyway, over to the Spa I went. €2.50 upcharge (once) and you're in through the turnstiles. And again I am confused. Where are you supposed to put your swim trunks? There are open lockers, but I saw a few people schlep their garments around all the time. In the spa. you have 4 saunas. 2 of which are pretty nice (the Aufguss Sauna at 90c and the Kräutersauna (I forgot the temp). The other two are a steam room and a 60c salt room (that I found to be kinda useless. It was not warm enough really to do anything). I was able to join one infusion in the Aufguss sauna, and that was hot and decently nice. The issue I was having (and the reason I only got to do one) is that signage and clocks are not super obvious. Apparently they only do these once per hour at the full hour. I got there shortly before 10am. I would've liked to at least have a chance to join the 10am one, but I didn't know, nobody tells you anything, and signage is hidden right by the Sauna, so deeper into the spa. I left after reaching the 2 hour mark, since I didn't want to pay for 4 hours (which is charges you if you go over). I won't come back. I think this place is crazy expensive for what you can do here. The spa facilities are confusing and not that great. Going to Vabali is not that much more expensive, but you get SO MUCH more. Don't bother going here, seriously, just don't. read more

There's a place and time for political comments, and it's not when I'm checking out of a spa. I don't need to be told that the person working there is a Trump fan. The massage was great, but overall it's meh. There's not a ton of options for clothed people for the pools. Also, they allow babies there which is wild to me. Towards the end of my massage there was a baby screaming outside my door which made the last 10 minutes very unrelaxing. I would not return. read more

This spa could be incredible but the staff made it a worse experience. The actual facilities are fairly nice and clean and the other patrons were very respectful. The check in man was rude and inappropriate, particularly for the atmosphere. The only exception in the staff is the man doing the Watsu massage. Tried Liquidrom on the recommendation of a friend living in Berlin. The front desk staff were on the curt side. I didn't expect them to be California-smiley, but I wish they were more helpful in giving us the run down and layout of the spa especially with them knowing it was our first time. In general, the spa is clean and spacious. There was plenty of locker room and shower space. The locker room and showers are split between men and women, but there's no divider in the middle so it's basically co-ed. To be honest, the salt floating pool wasn't as salty as I thought. I also couldn't really hear the music, but maybe it's because there were a lot of people in there despite it being a late Sunday night. There's also a handful of pool noodles in there if you want to float without any effort. The outdoor onsen pool area doesn't have heat lamps so it's only worth hanging out if you're in the pool itself, at least in the winter. I enjoyed the co-ed sauna as it's on the larger side and in close proximity to the onsen pool. The only annoying thing is that it's a nude sauna so if you want to do a diy water circuit therapy, you're going to have to keep putting on and off your bathing suit. Overall, my experience at Liquidrom met my expectation and I would recommend this to my friends visiting Berlin to check it out if they have extra time on their itinerary. 3.75 read more

This spa isn't luxury by all means, but it's a fun place to relax with or without friends. What's noteworthy about Liquidrom is their relaxation pool that is not only big but is also equipped with speakers inside. I was able to lay back, float and listen to jazz music that was playing through the water. If I lived in Berlin, this would be part of my rotation of places to frequent. If you are looking for an upscale place to lounge around, this isn't it. However, it's a good place to enjoy some free time and get your sauna or float on. There are 3 different saunas that are no clothing areas. Each sauna was at a different temperature and some of them were scented. I wasn't a fan of the sauna area because I thought it was too cramped. The locker rooms could've been a bit cleaner however, I understand it's difficult to maintain damp locker rooms when so many people are coming in and out. There were virtually no COVID restrictions in place besides showing my proof of vaccination at the beginning. read more

So glad I visited this place. I try to check out spas/saunas wherever I travel, especially if there's something unique. There are a lot of saunas/pools in Berlin and I researched many of them. I chose Vabali & liquidrom as time was limited. Vabali is huge and stunning, and Liquidrom had the salt floating pool with underwater music -- definitely a cool experience unlike anything else. I went on a weekday afternoon and it was quite busy. When I arrived, there was a line and they said I may have to wait 15 minutes to enter, but actually it was more like 5. Changerooms are cramped and not great. They are mixed, women and men in opposite sides but no wall or divider. I saw some changing stalls with curtains I think you can use, but most people just change in the open. In the sauna area it's mixed and naked so everyone had seen everything anyway (and no one cares! Everyone is just there to relax). Three is the salt pool & an outdoor hot tub -- you must wear a swimsuit in the pool. I saw both swimsuits and naked people for the hot tub so I guess either is ok. The sauna area costs an extra 2.5euro and is "textile free". It is a bit awkward having to take off and put back on a wet swimsuit if you are going back and forth between the saunas and pools, but there are cubby shelves and you can store things there, so you don't have to keep going back to your locker in the changeroom. There are bins and you can put things in there like your swimsuit, reading materials, water bottle etc. Bar/lounge area is nice. They could use more blankets as those got snatched up quite quickly. The salt sauna is only 60 degrees, not that satisfying for me. I preferred the herbal and aufgas saunas that are 80-90 degrees. After the aufgas the saunameister gave us yogurt to put on our faces & even cucumber slices for our eyes. So refreshing!! The stream room is quite big and nice, and the cold plunge pool is the best after that. I found the crowd here a mix of locals and foreigners. There are signs in English and always someone who speaks English. There is always some foreigner who doesn't read the rules and tries to enter the sauna in a dripping wet bathing suit. Don't be that person!! There were some canoodling couples but not too much. There were some kids splashing around in the hot tub which was a bit annoying but they didn't stay long. In general most people are respectful of the rules and keeping a quiet, peaceful environment. I stayed for 4 hours and it was a perfect amount of time. The place is nice enough, but the entrance is a nightmare (every time I had to wait for a long time, even tho there were just 1 or 2 people before me. The guy at the front desk spent 15 minutes with a client on the phone before even attending anyone :D the woman before me was fuming. The massage is not bad, but also nothing special. On my initial visit I had a bad experience with the receptionist, Kevin, who was extremely rude and wouldn't let me enter but after notifying the manager, Tobias, I was told that Kevin was let go and I was invited back free of charge. This is a very relaxing, trendy feeling and modern style spa by American standards. I felt the place was clean, front desk was nice but not informative. Basically they give you a bracelet and you stay as long as you want, eat drink and at the end you drop your bracelet in a kiosk and it totals you out. Put your credit card in and off you go. 3 rounds of drinks, pizza and 3 hours in the spa was 90 euros. Worth every penny. You will see and be naked, not a big deal. I'd like to rate this place 3.5 stars really. Very interesting spa... in some respects I loved it, others I wasn't so keen. There was something decedent about the architecture - the straight lines, dark slate and moulded concrete contours and the liquid room itself was stunning. This unique swimming pool had a beautiful arched ceiling, colour phasing lights and salted water which you could float effortlessly in. Both the liquid room and outdoor pool were salt water with little chlorine. This was very healing, but beware open wounds. The saunas (Himalayan salt, the 80 and 90 degree), steam room and outdoor small heated pool was well laid out amongst a labyrinth of halls, walkways and seated areas. All were good temperatures, with cold waterfall showers, or the square plunge pool in easy distance. What I didn't like was how run down it felt, with the foot baths being redundant, jacuzzi pool not working and muddy people wandering around (I believe this was a treatment, but they all stood in the communal shower making it very slippery. Entrance is also timed, you can book up to 2, 4 or more hours for different prices, and it felt as if we were being rushed and on the clock. I'd also have liked a bite to eat of a beer, but you needed to enter the spa and feast on your own time, which ate into the stay. I was also disappointed that we were told live music was playing, which we'd assumed was in the acoustically beautiful liquid pool room, but was actually a harpist at the bar. It would have been useful to be informed when music was being played in this room, but this wasn't available. And what is all this rubbish about swimming costumes - it was very confusing! It seemed you 'had' to be naked in the spa and steam rooms, and could be naked in slim other pools with the exception of the liquid room. That male and female changing rooms were next to each other and open. I couldn't see the point of this need for constant costume change - except maybe to waste your time. With these issues aside it was overall a stunning spa and I could see it as being very relaxing if we weren't clock counting. The price up to 2 hours is €19.50 (Euros)... quite reasonable. read more

So Berlin is good for a number of reasons, but one of the main ones is that it's a terrible place to see Sights. Sights are awful, whatever they are - they reduce travel to a ladybird book of matching pictures and making ticks and prevent you from experiencing the mind expanding joys of beat matching the rhythm of an other place. If you go to Berlin and spend more than a quarter of your time on the western side of the cobbles that mark where the wall stood, or any time in the kind of museums and shops that you find in every capital city in the world, or looking at some monolithic edifice from the cover of a guidebook - you are doing it wrong. To do it right you really ought to be making something - Berlin is uniquely unfinished among European cities, history continues there and you can contribute to it if you make an effort. At the very least you can go to Liquidrom, take off all your clothes and lie around in a brutalist cave-style, perfectly buoyant, salt water pool surrounded by chillout lighting and candle flames listening to soothing bossa nova piped through the water so that you can only hear it with your ears submerged. It is a perfectly silly thing to do, made all the sillier by the extraordinary sincerity of the regular clientele who genuinely seem to see nothing absurd about it. It's kind of pricey, and if you want the genuine German therme experience, you're better off outside Berlin (Wiesbaden is the best I know of, but people say that Spreewald is good). As ever, there are rules and they are a bit impenetrable at first - despite making sense when you think about them: basically no clothes places where you sweat or wash, bathing suits elsewhere. If you're not cool with non sexual nudity you should reassess your upbringing. All that said, life has little purpose beyond the acquisition of good stories. Not going here if you have time and can afford it is like saying no to your first oyster. read more

I spent a few days in Berlin last month and this was one of the places on my list to visit. As a non-European (well... culturally... ethnically, I'm all European, hehe), it was very confronting for me to realize that while there is a pretense of male and female change rooms... they're open in the middle. This was my first hint that I was going to have to step out of my "nakedness in mixed company" comfort zone :) I assumed I'd at least get to wear my swimsuit wherever there were men around, but uuhhh... no. Well, you can wear a towel. But then you dont have a dry towel for later unless you rent one. I rented a robe and used that to dry off with when I wanted to go home. But if you want to go from pool to sauna/steam room, you have put on and take off your swim suit repeatedly, because the rules state you MUST wear your swim suit in the pool, but then you MUST take it off to go into the sauna/steam room. That particular rule is annoying. Just let people keep their swimsuits on for goodness sakes. You're still pretty naked even with just a bikini on! I did end up saying f*ck it, and just galavanting around in my birthday suit. That was interesting... *sniff* It's pretty expensive and for the price, I expected a higher standard of hygiene and cleanliness. I got up out of both smaller pools when I noticed large globs of God-knows-what in both and just stuff floating around in the water upon close inspection. Yeah... pretty gross. Also, the main reason I wanted to come here is because of the multiple steam and sauna rooms of supposedly varying heats. One of my favourite things EVER is a HOT, HOT, HOT steam room... I was expecting to be in and out of the deliciously steaming hot steam room, back and forth and back and forth, for as long as I wanted... but sadly, that was never to be! The hottest steam room was pretty mild. Mild as in vaguely damp, lame steam in a small room with people constantly walking in and out so its always cold. I was disappointed by that. I went in there once for 20 minutes, waiting for the steam to build up, and waited... and waited... finally I thought "this is crap!", and left to attempt to amuse myself with other things. Boo. But its very swish and swanky, they have live music and everyones walking around either literally naked or pretty much naked... It's definitely a certain kind of scene, hehe. I had an avocado bagel and champagne. The bagel was gross. There was this salty green goop inside that I suppose was the avocado. It was an experience to say the least! I wouldn't be in a rush to go back if I found myself in Berlin again. Mainly because of the lame steam room and less than stellar hygiene I experienced. read more

There's much to like here and some critisms but overall I do prefer it to Berlins other flagship sauna spa, Vabali. In terms of costs they are similarly expensive. The great advantage that Liquidrom has is the pool which is unrivalled in Berlin, but only if you can go when it's not crowded. The last time I was there, some guys were acting like buffoons, but they were ejected quickly by security. I would agree with other criticisms. Changing rooms are small, it's not always 100% clean, restaurant facilities are lacking. But the large pool can offer a magical experience and for that reason, I recommend it. read more

Coldn't even get past the front door. We had scheduled massages and planned a few hours in the sauna/pools, but needed to cancel on a day's notice due to an illness. We contacted the management to ask if we could switch our massage reservations to the following day. Someone wrote back and confirmed new massage appointments. When we arrived on the next day, the receptionists couldn't find our reservations in their system, and said all the massage slots were booked, except for one remaining one-hour window later in the day that we could split into two 25-minute massages. We showed them the email from one of their colleagues confirming us each for 50-minute massages, but they showed no sympathy or offered no apology for the misunderstanding. Clearly, we weren't going to get the massages we wanted if their staff was fully booked, but at least some acknowledgment that a mistake had been made would have been aprpeciated, or at least, a human gesture. As we stepped to the side to discuss whether we wanted to take the 25-minute massages and readjust our plans for the day, we heard one of the receptionists take a phone call and start offering the same slot to the caller! No effort even to make eye contact with us or ask us for a faster decision before offering the slot to someone else. Very poor customer service up front -- can't imagine we would have enjoyed the visit after that, even if the saunas and massages had been top quality. The many other reviews here complaining of the service at the reception are obviously not unfounded. read more

Had a great time here on a Thursday afternoon. Stayed for four hours, even treated myself to an awesome massage (thanks Hakan!). Clean facility and an open atmosphere, which by the way is quite important because you spend a good deal of time here in all your nakedness in front of both guys and girls. Leave your hang-ups at the door and just relax. The crown jewel of the place is the big salt-water pool. Grab a couple floaty noodles and try not to bump into anyone - which isn't hard during a weekday afternoon, place wasn't crowded at all. Quick word of advice guys - do NOT turn right when you enter the changing room. I made that mistake and found myself getting an earful from an elderly Frau while I was wearing nothing but my t-shirt. Had a wonderful experience here! First, I was told I came at the right time, 10pm on a Tuesday night. No crowds! The pool was incredibly relaxing and the sauna ritual was wonderfully intense. I got here late on a Saturday night and it was still pretty busy in the saunas. The pool was almost empty but the music and visuals were cool. The staff were all really friendly and spoke English. Everything seemed pretty clean and well maintained. Bring a swimsuit for the pool or they can loan you one so don't worry if you didn't bring one. The rest is nude. This place is simply divine! You could easily spend the whole day here, and you will leave feeling amazing! The Liquidrom consists of a sauna complex with a variety of saunas and a steam room. Adjacent to this is a large bar and relaxation area, focusing on an outdoor terrace with spa pool and smoking area. Besides drinks at the bar, you can also order light meals from an excellent menu. The prices are very reasonable and the portions extremely generous. The highlight, however, has to be the pool. It is in a separate room, dark with mood lighting. It's not for swimming, but instead for floating! Djs play a variety of chill out or classical music, which is also piped underwater. The effect is quite simply wonderful! The whole place is beautifully designed using only the highest quality fittings and materials. It is a bit posey, and can get very crowded on the weekend (note that they allow max 150 punters through, while there are only 50 loungers.). It costs about EUR22 for a day pass. Don't let this put you off though - it's extremely good value for money. read more

This is such a great & relaxing place but Americans be warned: there are no swimsuits allowed in the saunas & steam rooms and they are unisex. I don't understand the logic but those are the rules. People freely walk around naked outside these areas as well. Once you're there for a few minutes you get used to it and it's not a big deal, but I was a bit shocked at first. Being from the US, I was not expecting this. There are separate men's & women's changing rooms, but I don't know why they bother since they are open in the middle and you can see right into the opposite changing room. The place is really well organized and you can use your token (conveniently attached to your plastic bracelet) to pay for everything. It's all added to your bill at the end, so no need to worry about carrying around cash while you're naked or in your wet swimsuit. They do massages here but you should make your appointment in advance. There were none left for us when we showed up on a Monday. To sum it up: saunas/steam room: quiet, relaxing, naked. The indoor saltwater pool: warm, relaxing, pool noodles to float around on, lots of couples making out which is kind of gross, swimsuit required. The bar: lots of drink options and surprisingly good food - get the thin crust pizza. read more

This place really went downhill over the last couple of years, a victim of its own success. The massage staff and sauna guys do a very competent job, but if you're looking for a place to relax, you will have to be very lucky to catch the place on a quiet moment. Last week, we went probably for the last time; the pool was filled with kids (who brings their kids to a spa? Kids see a pool, of course they're going to play in it!), loud tourists, etc. It would be nice if the staff would actually enforce the rules they have, and throw out people who are disrespectful. I'd recommend them to jack up the price, which would be worth it if it would mean that they return to the time when it was a quiet and intimate place where you could really relax. read more

This was the third spa we went to during our travels in Germany. This was the worst one by far. The rules are no clothing in the saunas and bathing suits in the pool. Also, you are supposed to BE QUIET. Most people did not follow these rules, which made it uncomfortable for those of us who did. Most women were wearing bathing suits everywhere. Also, there was talking in almost all the saunas and wet rooms. Also, couples were making out in the pool area, which while that was not a no-no, it is kinda an unsaid rule not to do that. I did really like the outdoor hottub and the wet sauna. The bar area was nice as well, with a nice selection of drinks and food. There was also a short wait to even enter the facilities. I just visited Liquidrom as a lesbian American and it was a great experience! Everyone looked comfortable, there was not many people there (went on a Wednesday around 3 pm), and it was so relaxing. I really enjoyed the whole experience. Every worker spoke English and the main pool was really awesome. Everyone there was respectful of others and keeping quiet. The little pool by the main pool was by far my favorite part. It was cozy, warm, and private. read more

I decided to spend the morning of my birthday in Liquidrom (Monday 25.11.13), at the entrance, I asked for the "Tages Karte" and I wanted to pay by credit card so the lady told me to pay when I leave. I got a call and had to leave earlier, I could only stay less than two hours. At checkout I had to pay 29.50 euros (Two hour cost 19.50) The lady told me that I ordered the full day fee when I came and now I had to pay for it. The reception staff are not very friendly. The rule "Kunde ist König" does not work in Liquidrom. First "Umsatz", no matter if the customer does not return anymore! read more

This place is absolutely legendary. I was hesitant based off of the Yelp rating but I've been traveling internationally for work for over a month and was in desperate need of a massage. I am so glad I found this place! My massage was out of this world. I believe my therapists name was Seline. She was made of magic. Worked the living heck out of my back and made me feel human again. In the middle of the massage, I could hear a woman singing and a guitarist playing along and it was so calming and such a good soundtrack to the massage. The facilities are stunning. I'm glad I read the reviews and knew to anticipate the locker rooms being connected, but honestly it was only weird for a split second and then it felt completely normal. Everyone was comfortable and respectful. I need to go back and actually explore all of the saunas and pools, but overall I am just obsessed with the vibe of the place.
