Stopped into Lir Cafe while in Killarney and was so pleasantly surprised by their vegan options! The owner was incredibly kind and gave off the best authentic Irish vibes -- warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. It made the whole experience feel special. The coffee was absolutely delicious. My flat white with coconut milk was done perfectly -- smooth, rich, and beautifully balanced. Honestly one of the best I've had in Ireland. And the desserts... wow. The lemon cake was perfectly sweet (not overpowering at all), and the chocolate coconut tart was simply supreme. Best Rocky Roads I've ever had! Melts in your mouth, not hard nor too sweet! The proprietor is very friendly and the place is very cool. You can eat inside or go outside to the great chairs undercover. Walking distance to the Killarney national park. A Must visit! read more

I strolled around Killarney and decided to have a ham and cheese sandwich"toastie". Two kinds of cheeses with ham and toasted to perfection. You could hear the crunch in each bite. It was served table side with onion chips. It was one of the best I've had in Ireland. I also heard the coffee and baked goods are delicious too. read more

After reading all of the wonderful reviews, we added Lir Cafe to our list of must-visits in Killarney. It's a cozy spot offering a diverse menu that includes cafe drinks, ice cream, baked goods, and chocolate truffles. I had the Truffle Blend, which is vanilla soft serve blended with your choice of chocolate (I chose the Hazelnut Praline truffle). The soft serve had a creamy consistency and the truffle added the perfect amount of flavor. My friend had the hot chocolate, which she acclaimed to be the best of three we had tried so far during our Ireland trip. Overall, a great spot to unwind after a day of exploring! read more

Solid spot in town to get a quick cup of coffee and maybe so breakfast, especially if you're trying to get some food early in the day. We also got some ham and cheese breakfast sandwiches (toasted regular wheat bread). While they come pre made from the fridge, given the lack of options in town early in the morning and the amount of cheese they put in, was worthwhile. They had a bit of a problem with the credit card reader when we were there, but it wasn't too much of an inconvenience. They gave us all our food and let us pay after (giving us time to run to an ATM) even though you're normally supposed to pay up front. The coffee and scones were a perfect light breakfast, and we ordered some sandwiches to go - which were still delicious after a few hours. Great, cheap stop for breakfast! read more

This cafe is a cute little place around downtown Killarney that is a good place to stop and take a break. We came here for a snack and tried the grilled cheese sandwich (which came with surprisingly delicious tortilla chips - they just don't make them like this in the US) and a brownie with a side of ice cream. The only improvement that I would suggest for this cafe is that it feels a little sticky and could benefit for a little more frequent cleaning. But, the offering of a free chocolate with check-in more than makes up for it. The staff is so kind. Would definitely stop by again for a delicious sweet treat! read more

We were shopping in the area and saw this coffee shop and decided to stop in for a cup of coffee. I wanted a caramel type of coffee, which was not on the menu board, but the lady was very accommodating and said she could make what I wanted. She was so friendly! The drink turned out more of an espresso than a cup of coffee (I may not have been specific enough) but the drink was still good. Plus they have soy milk here. They had a bunch of baked goodies displayed in the counter so I also ordered a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. It was seriously one of the BEST cookies I've ever eaten. Delicious!!! This cafe has free wifi in case you need to get connected to the web. I think passwords are for patrons only though. It is a small cafe but very cozy and warm. read more

We got two coffees and I redeemed my free chocolate (a Yelp check-in offer). I asked for the raspberry one but was given the cranberry one (which I'm allergic to but decided to take the risk for chocolate's sake; I was fine). It was okay. The ladies behind the counter were rude and just wanted to hurry us out of there (although we were quick already--we got our coffees to go). The older lady wasn't pleased that I wanted to redeem my free chocolate...so why offer it if you're going to glare at me and give me attitude for asking for something you chose to offer? Overall, not a very pleasant experience. Wouldn't visit again. read more

Nice People and Good Coffee / Tea / Truffles We visited Killarney for a week. This was the first business we walked into - to ask for a directions and a nice barrista guided us directly on our way. We came back and enjoyed a pot of tea for a 1.75 euro - nice deal. We ended up coming in almost every morning and hanging out using the wifi - and the scones were excellent. We got a box of guiness truffles on the way out. They were always quite helpful with our questions about town - the staff here is a real winner. read more

My wife and another couple just stopped tonight for a cappuccino on our way back to Cork after a trip to the Ring of Kerry. It was a nice break. We had our coffees and a delicious pastry. Everything was very good and the ladies behind the counter were special. I would highly recommend a stop, especially if you like chocolate! read more

Nice small shop. Order at the counter and find a table; they'll bring your order over (they're pretty fast). I just wanted a simple breakfast so I got one of their ham and cheese sandwiches (they don't seem to have too many sandwich options). The sandwich was nice and simple--toasted bread, melted cheese, and ham. I left feeling pretty satisfied... but maybe I should have gotten a coffee. read more

This is by far the very best coffee shop in Killarney. I went there 4 out of 5 days and received the same great service, beautiful and smooth almond milk latte... occasionally treating myself to one of their croissants (also top of the line) or a toasty sandwich. People came in to buy their famous chocolates (which I will do before I leave). Looking forward to the pleasure one last time tomorrow, yet also sad to say farewell. Thank You Lir! read more

Outstanding service, reasonable prices, and good atmosphere are the highlights of this cafe, which is a great place for a chat or reading a book for a while. The coffee and food are also solid and they have good teas. There was good turnover of the crowd while I was sitting but a continual stream of people came in through the door and I was impressed with the way the staff were polite, genuinely friendly, and considerate to each and every person. read more
