My wife chose the Half Irish Breakfast, while I opted for the Full Irish. Both were beautifully prepared, generously portioned, and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The locally sourced bacon, sausages, black and white pudding, eggs, and perfectly toasted bread came together to create exactly what you'd hope for from a traditional Irish breakfast--hearty, flavorful, and deeply satisfying.
What truly elevates Celtic Kitchen, however, is the atmosphere. Operated by a welcoming husband-and-wife team, the café has the kind of genuine friendliness that can't be manufactured. Service was attentive, efficient, and warmly personal, making us feel like regulars despite it being our first visit.
From the street, the café appears modest, and it would be easy to assume seating is limited. Don't be fooled. Upstairs is a surprisingly spacious dining room that comfortably accommodates larger groups while maintaining the café's cozy, relaxed ambiance. Contemporary décor is complemented by artwork from local artists, giving the space both character and a strong sense of community.
As we enjoyed our breakfast, the experience was made even more memorable by two gentlemen performing traditional Irish music just a few yards from the café. Their traditional Irish tunes drifted through the street, providing a fitting soundtrack to our first morning in Killarney. It was one of those unplanned moments that can't be replicated--a simple breakfast accompanied by authentic local music that perfectly captured the spirit of County Kerry.
While breakfast is deservedly the star attraction, the menu extends well beyond the morning hours, featuring fresh baguettes, hot paninis, sandwiches, generous baked potatoes with a variety of fillings, and premium Italian coffee that has earned a loyal following among locals and visitors alike.
Our breakfast at Celtic Kitchen Café was everything you hope for when arriving in a new destination: delicious food, genuine hospitality, and an authentic sense of place. Between the excellent Full Irish breakfast, the warm welcome from the owners, and the sound of music floating in from the street, it set the tone for the rest of our stay in Killarney. It remains one of the most memorable breakfasts of our trip and is an easy recommendation for anyone looking to experience both fine food and genuine Irish hospitality.
