I also look at the different price ranges and geographical areas where the realtor sold most of their homes. If the realtor sells 90% of his homes in an area where the homes sell for $250K and your home is $1million and in a pricy area that realtor is not for you. In the Reno area there were several hundred realtors to choose from. There were also many big name companies with their franchises all over the area. I looked at a lot of average realtors, bad realtors, part timers (I would not use a part time realtor) and the top producers. We were after the top producers in our areas to market and sell our home. We boiled the list down to the top 4 and my wife and I interviewed them all. We selected Alan Hoffman and his team. Alan was by far the best prepared. His presentation, comparable, marketing data & analysis and knowledge of the market were the most detailed and accurate with regards to the property I wanted to sell. When he left I had a thorough understanding of the market value of my home, and a pretty good start at a marketing plan and time frame to sell my home. Alan also had an advantage over the other agents in that his approach to selling includes the use of his team.
