There's a trail that takes you down to a pretty pond, waterfall, and wetlands. There's a recreational bonanza of options, with an Olympic sized pool, tennis courts, two baseball fields, basketball courts, a football field, a park, a softball field, a skate park, two pavilions, a soccer field, wading pool, and playgrounds. As we were walking around the ballfields, we saw a guy in a gray hoodie and gray pants with his black lab running around freely. They were hundreds of feet apart and he was yelling at the dog to come over. But the dog didn't because he or she was busy squatting and taking a dump on the ballfield where kids play. Did Mr. gray hoodie clean up after Fido? Nope, he just ignored that steaming pile of dog doo, leashed up his dog when it finally sprinted over, and calmly walked away along East Hill Road. The selfish, careless, inconsiderate arrogance was incredible to witness. So, if you're playing out there on the fields, watch where you step.

There is a pavilion with a few picnic tables; you can contact Canton recreation to reserve them for a party. The parking lot has plenty of spaces. There's no trail, just a small paved portion behind the skatepark. I saw plenty of people walking around the park and around the field. My kids really enjoyed playing in the playground. There's a double swing you can put your small child in and you can sit on the swing as well; that was a first for me. A gem and I'm lucky to live close by and be able to use this establishment.

Now in November 2020 they have a Santa with a couple of reindeer set up all lit up at night. It's huge. It's about 20 feet high. Great for the kids to see. Very nice relaxing low key park. There's also a war memorial monument set up in the park to pay tribute to those fallen in war. There's also a small gazebo there to hang out in if you want to get out of the sun.

Situated on the corner of Pleasant Street and Route 6 in Woodbury, CT, this little park is often…read moreforgotten by the residents, except at Christmas, when the town's tree is decorated and lit. It's not included in the list of the town's recreational facilities, nor is it one of the popular sites for family picnicking. One of the reasons is the lack of parking, which makes this a great place to walk to from anywhere in town, instead of taking the car. There's a number of benches, some provided by the town, others, built and dedicated by the local Lions in memory of deceased members. The bandstand (NEVER call it a gazebo!) was also built by the Lions in 1986, and is dedicated to the memory of local composer Leroy Anderson. It's popular with local residents as a dog walk area, or as a place to sit and quietly reflect. There are several large trees, and an open space that's great for that quick Frisbee toss. It's also the place with the most advertising signs because of its location along Route 6, and the traffic light that requires cars to stop in front of them. I'm all for green space in any town. I wish this little park would get more use.

The house on the property that was built in 1941 is now a museum. There is a paved trail along the river, it has beautiful views and it's short at 0.75 miles. There are trails, meadows, wetlands, a garden, and pavilions. We visited for the Easter egg hunt event. They did a great job with dispersing the Easter eggs around for the kids. The park was large and gorgeous, perfect for events like that one. The trail was nice; however, there was a creepy dilapidated shack on it. I heard that they do a haunted trails event in the fall, which I am interested in going!

All I saw was nice green and yellow leafs everywhere I loved the colors especially with how sunny and bright the day was. They had this really cool bridge you can look around on and check out the water. The bridge did have some gaps in the center so hope no one drops anything as you definitely won't be getting it back. Besides that though the bridge was very stable. There was also signs of information/history about the park too if you like to read about that stuff. It looked like there were a few paths you can take to walk around doesn't seem like you could get lost easy. There was this one cool path where you can see nothing but yellow leafs around you on the path and it looked so cool. I also found this really old hut looked interesting too. Just watch your step but otherwise I didn't see any difficult paths. I would definitely come back to this park when I come back to visit again.

We were able to relax in the picnic pavilion for a bit, which was fully shaded on this hot day. The Farmington River is adjacent to this park. Many people use this location to access the river for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Based on the Town of Simsbury's website, camping is also available. It's a nice place to play soccer, be a spectator, fish, and canoe/kayak. Based on the All Trails app, you can paddle on the river from Curtiss Park to the Old Drake Hill Flower bridge; can't wait to go back and try this route out!

Today Monday 6/8/2026 was my first visit with my pup and daughter's pup. We covered approximately 3.5 miles hopping from trail to trail. The weather was phenomenal and the forest very pleasant. The DEEP facility hosts training and learning seminars in addition to their regular duties. Hats off to this splendid preserve. Open from sunrise to sunset.

Sessions Woods is a nature preserve on 700 acres of land with trails and an education exhibit. Trails are open from sunrise to sunset; the exhibit is open 8:30-4 Monday-Friday. There were four trails to choose from; Beaver Pond, Forest Meadow, Tree ID, and Crosscut Trail. The parking lot was large. On this visit, I completed the Forest Meadow Trail. The trail was a 0.6-mile loop trail. There were informational signs throughout; they were kind of faded and old. The trail was easy and peaceful; I noticed quite a few boulders. There was only one other person we walked by on the trail. I was being vigilant about bears and ticks. There were quite a few benches which was a nice since my toddler enjoyed resting on them. I saw that the other trail had boardwalks; I look forward to coming back to check that out.

Norton Park is a large park in Plainville, CT with many amenities. I was in the area and had to…read morecheck it out since I'm sort of a playground connoisseur lol. Aside from the large playground, there is a sports field, picnic spot, pool, and ball courts. There is a skate park and a paved 1 mile loop walking trail. It is stroller friendly which is a plus. They also host the hot air balloon event in August. The residents and visitors are lucky to have this recreational area. There were plenty of parking; it was a busy day when we went. We enjoyed the playground; there was shade and picnic tables throughout. It even has a zipline/swing type playscape, which I've never seen before elsewhere. Overall, it's definitely a nice park!
