the breakfasts here are pricey but well worth it, it is always clean and tidy and the staff are always very helpful, all food is freshly cooked to order, not left laying around, so you may pay more but its well worth the money read more

I had a chicken terrine to commence proceedings which was wonderful and resembled a fine piece of mosaic before I had to spoil everything by eating it. This was followed by a delicious loin of veal cooked perfectly pink and accompanied by lightly cooked kale and suitably al dente broccolini. Desserts are mouth wateringly tempting, although I had sufficient will power to pass, but out of the corner of my eye, I did spot one of my companions devour a lemon posset with an individual lemon sponge cake and lemon ice cream. This was proclaimed a triumph. Fat Olive's is open Tuesday to Saturday and booking is essential. Make sure your name is on the list.

I haven't stayed there but did have the pleasure of eating dinner there once and found it to be one of the most enjoyable meals I've had in a long while. I'll mention the cocktails are extremely good as is the food. Their coffee is not up to much, so that should be looked at. The rooms are luxurious in the main and I hope the overall quality continues under new management.

Its family run and very friendly indeed, its almost like sitting in someones living room. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch there which was a set 3 course affair priced at £22 which I don't think is too bad. I had mussels to start followed by some really tasty guinea fowl for main course and finished off with a very decadent chocolate tart. This is fine country dining at its very coziest!

Chains (pub/restaurants) are generally pretty good in the States, generous portions, great service, not so this Beefeater. Service was dodgy, how is it some waiters have the ability to studiously ignore you? I've learned to just get up and go looking for your waiter, which really rattles them... The place was filthy, litter all over the floors, paper, bits of food, the table was sticky, and the room cold and drafty (due I suspect to over powered air-conditioning). They didn't have the beers they advertised in their menu. I ordered Salmon with broccoli, the salmon was okay if small, and the broccoli looked like three tiny pieces of limp grass. My wife ordered the same but without sauce and when I said I'd have her sauce, I though the waiter was going to have heart attack!! The place came across like a worn out service stop on the M4. Well the food was hot and it was cheap enough I suppose...

We have 2 kids but had to ask for activity packs. The veg with the main course was overcooked almost to pulp and my wife's steak was just gristle. We complained to the manager (who looked about 12!) and he offered us free coffee (which we don't drink) and we all know how much it costs them to serve, then tried a free ice cream ! Any where else would have not charged for the steak ! After a big row we left disgusted. The staff have not heard of customer service and the food was worse than any pub or cafe I have ever been in.
