I shipped them my watch on a Monday and had the new one in my hand by end of Wednesday! Look forward to doing more business with them, and perhaps having them service my watch collection when it's time.

Good, honest folks for watch repair…read more I'm a bit of a collector of oddball watches and also have a couple that are heirlooms, but not especially valuable (not in the Patek sense anyway). Entrusting my watches to Illinois Watch Company overall was a good experience. They provide a shipping package you can use to ship your watches to them that contains detailed packaging instructions and foam packing to protect the contents. This made things very easy. For my initial repair, I sent them five watches, three with batteries and two mechanical. Everything came back in good working order and at a fair price, though this isn't a super fast process so you have to be a bit patient. One watch, which was my grandfathers, still had an issue I discovered a short time after receiving them all back, and they repaired it again under warranty. This again took some time as parts availability is iffy due to supply chain issues, but I did finally get it back in excellent working condition. Craig was available to answer questions and talk about the watch repair process. Communications were polite and pleasant. Overall, a good experience!

I will say there is a much larger selection of other things that are not available at the other store such as housewares, furniture, books, and business attire. I got jackets, shirts, and movies. I got about 8 to 9 movies yesterday. By the time I got home and wanted to play one of the movies that I bought, I discovered that there was a wrong movie in the case. I got " easy A" but inside was " 16 candles". By the time I discovered it the store was already closed. I tried to call that day, but of course it was closed. So I called this morning. Spoke to somebody. They said they usually check the movies maybe this ones slip through and then I can either exchange or get a refund. I told them that I would be coming closer to the end of the day because I was busy. Came in around 3:30 today finally was help, the ladies seem to have an attitude as if I was lying to her about not getting the movie that I wanted. She began throwing the movie into the trash; after I said, I didn't want to pick another movie due to me getting all the movies that I wanted yesterday. She just pulled out $2.16, with no response and handed me the money to me as if I was trying to steal from their business. I don't think after this interaction, I will be coming back into this business due to the lack of professionalism and customer service that was given at this time in the establishment.

In late July 2026, I contacted Boyer's to determine if the business could alter (narrow) a pair of thigh-high leather boots I own due to the fact that I have slender legs from ankle to hip. Following an exchange of a few emails with "Z," I was told such should be possible but to bring in the boots for a determination by "S." On August 13, I brought in my boots and spoke to "S" for about 15-20 minutes. We discussed how they actually fit vs. how I wanted them to fit, take measurements and mark the shafts, and talk about the process of how they would be narrowed. Given the height of the shaft, the cost of the alterations was going to be $25 extra which I was more than willing to pay. "S" informed me that she should have them complete by August 22. I paid and extra $25 for shipping back to my residence in Springfield, IL. I expected to have them returned to me by the end of that month. I had not received the boots or any communication from Boyer's by September 3, so I call the business for a status update. I was very concerned that they had been shipped but as mail delivery in the Springfield area is terrible at best, I thought they had been lost by the USPS. I spoke with "M" who told me that not only had the work on the boots not been started, "S" had been on vacation for the previous weeks and was not due to return until the end of September. Thus, expected completion was not until October, up to two months after I initially left the boots for alterations. Needless to say, I was stunned and was extremely angry to put it nicely. I sat on what I wanted to do for a bit so that cooler heads would prevail. I consulted a long time "advisor" who told me that such lack of communication was utterly inexcusable. On September 11, I made the 102 mile drive to Quincy to retrieve the boots and request a full refund. Upon entering the business, I explained to the cashier "C" that I was there to retrieve the boots and wanted a full refund for all that I paid for the alterations and shipment. I gave my receipt to "C" and upon looking at it and noticing that the "Due date" marked on such was August 22, "C" quietly stated, "Sorry about that." A few moment later, I left the store with the boots in hand and not a word from anyone in the store to try and "correct" the situation. The only saving grace to the situation was that on the way back to Springfield, I stopped at the Hopewell Winery which was utterly fantastic and that, I DO recommend! If anyone from Boyer's should care to read this, please note that I would still love to have the boots altered but will not do so unless I can be assured this unfortunate chain of events will not happen again.
