I was kindly invited back back to Little Flinders by Ray, the pleasant and livewire manager here. Ray knows I've done my research of the surrounding area. I have strategically and comprehensively visited pretty every place in the vicinity of Collins Place over months trying to find the best options.
It's hard work but someone has to do it. Little Flinders is hands down a great option. It's a nice bistro that delivers honest tasty and well priced food in a nice atmosphere. Tazio downstairs from here is a similarly well run establishment. These people know what they're doing. They know hospitality.
I was kindly placed on the balcony with a pleasant view of Flinders Lane. The fresh air was lovely but so was the protection from the cool wind. It's a nice spot to spend a while watching the world go by. I ordered a calamari main. Mighty good it was too. Light, fluffy and tender. Really nicely flavoured as well and accompanied with aoli, olives and capers. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My cappuccino to finish was lovely.
My favourite higher priced restaurant in the area is Kenzan. Next are Tazio and Little Flinders or Cento Mani if you're happy to go a little further afield. Food court places are food court places. They're ok if you want to grab something to take back to the office. But they're a poor option if you want to eat around about.

Lunch on the run between meetings. Little Flinders had been sending me advertising messages on Zomato which I appreciated in s strange sort of way, so I just had to drop in. It was already 3pm with another meeting looming. Grabbed a lentil soup with bread. $10 the lot. They should be paying me for this, but this offering beats the nearby food court any day. The soup was lovely. Deeply flavoured with plenty of seasoning, it was very satisfying. No skimping on the serve either. All it needed was a tiny bit more thickening. The two slices of rye were just what was needed with it too. Service was good too. The very pleasant lady taking the orders promised to be quick and she was. 20 minutes later and full, I was out the door. On this experience it's a winner. read more
