She was so kind and genuine and you can tell her heart is pure. She was funny and when I wanted to buy something and realized they only take Cash or Venmo I believe I didn't have either she told me it's okay, just take it. You can give it to me next time. I ended up finding some change in my car. Debbie insisted on me grabbing more clothing for a severely discounted rate ( little did she know, I was having surgery the next day and will be out of work and out of money for a few weeks) sure was an Angel working in there at that moment when I needed them most. They have student volunteers helping out. They have a good selection of donations. Please support a non-profit or dedicate some of your time and volunteer. Through my own personal experience I know how difficult it is to be a parent with a child in the hospital. When all you want is for your child to be well, you forget how important it is to take care of yourself. I wish I had know then that something as incredible as the Moran Family Day Room at the Ronald McDonald House existed. There are no stipulations to whom can use their day room other than, you have a child age 0-21, in a hospital recieving care. If interested in using the facility you simply have to reach out to a member of your child or grandchilds) care team and ask. I had seen the donation boxes a few times while out at McDonald's over the years, but never stopped to ask what the Ronald McDonald House was or what they do. Well, I was very pleased and delighted to learn about all that and more today! They are an incredible organization that provides housing and support to families with children and young adults who are admitted to the nearby hospitals. Not only do they provide beautifully furnished rooms for the families, they also provide everything from clean linens and towels and home-cooked dinners, all in a gorgeous and recently renovated three story building that is within walking distance from Hasbro Children's Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital, and Women & Infants Hospital. We were the dinner volunteers of the day, and worked together as a team to prepare a meal of macaroni and cheese, salad, and baked chicken for the families who reside here. After we spent about an hour in the building's spacious kitchen, we were given a guided tour of the House by Tina Ledo, their Development Associate. She showed us all around, including a family room where kids and their parents can unwind after a long day, a conference room that is open for community meeting use, and a lovely day room that families who are not staying at the House but have children in the hospital can use to recharge between visits. It was absolutely wonderful to see what an amazing place the Ronald McDonald House is, and to hear the stories of how they have helped families with children in the hospital for 30 years and counting! Thank you again for giving us Providence Yelpers an extremely rewarding volunteer opportunity. I very much look forward to volunteering in the future!

If you're one of the many who have to head back to work with a new baby in tow, then you know…read morethere's nothing more nerve-wracking than placing your brand new darling in someone else's hands. You worry about whether your baby will like the caretaker...whether s/he will like them more than you...whether they will care for your baby as well as you could...and whether they will be kind enough to not tell you that they witnessed your baby's first word/crawl/gurgle/etc. If you're also in tune to the importance of early childhood education, you likely also want to know whether they follow the standards for care and that they are fostering your child's social, emotional, and educational learning and expanding your baby's gross motor skills. Whew. It's exhausting, thinking about all those things...and, as a new parent, I thought of all those and more when trying to decide where to enroll our daughter. A Child's University was seriously one of, if not the, best place we could imagine. Each and every day, she loves going to 'school'. I also love that she can grow there and maintain continuity, as the school goes up until Kindergarten. I have full confidence that she will develop mentally, socially, and emotionally under their watch. They do wonderful craft projects, even with the teensy babies, and every time I pick her up she is happily playing with the various toys or other children - always with one or more of the teachers sitting watchfully. All of this allows you, the parent, to feel good about the fact that your child is engaged all day long. And, while they do have a ton of rules and protocols to follow, I know all are done with safety in mind. The teachers are outstanding. I am not joking when I say that a primary concern of mine is whether they will be sensitive to the conflicting emotion caused by leaving your baby with another caretaker. For that kindness, and for the kindness they show to my daughter each and every day, they get an A+ in my book.

We are so taken care of here, our feedback is frequently requested.  Any questions I've had, are answered within hours - day or night.  And I have to give Jamie, the Director, major props because not only is she cool, calm, and collected with great communication skills, but she's also fashionable, stunning, and super funny. In addition to the amazing employees and the beautiful and bright space, this is a quick list of what I love so much about A Child's University: *It is accredited - It is extremely difficult to achieve and maintain academic accreditation.  It shows in all levels of the education. Yes, even my 11 month old had a daily curriculum they follow including themes, art projects, science, math, and health/motor skills. *Daily art projects.  Yep, even in the baby room, they do art! *They exceed the state's teacher ratio standards by staffing more educators in each room than the state requires.  Full time educators have their degree. *It's clean.   *They play music entering and leaving the building, and in the baby room. *They use an app that sends push notifications so I know the minute my son goes down for a nap, has a wet diaper, and how much of his lunch he ate (or threw on the floor as the case may be). *They send several pictures daily and have a live stream camera. *They have a nurse on staff daily. *The staff is so loved, and in return they shower our babies with love.  It makes me smile to see all of the love notes and gifts that the teachers received.

We have been with Cadence Academy back when it was known as The Children's Workshop and have been with the Cranston location since 2016. As a single parent, child care - reliable childcare- is a huge component to making things work. Cadence Academy - Cranston is part of my village helping me raise my kids. The staff are extended family who love and support my two kids as such. The classrooms are super clean, bright, fun, really well decorated, safe, and well balanced when it comes to student-teacher ratio. They provide yummy breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to the kids (even vegetarian options) included in the cost of tuition. Summer camp is very fun and pre-covid lots of entertainment was provided for the kids such as Kona ice on Fridays, Kid Bus, and friends from the zoo coming to teach the kids about animals. Daycare during covid was initially scary but there is no other place I trust to not only watch my kids while I work, but assist with distance learning than the staff at Cadence. As a response to Cranston's learning model this year, Cadence opened a beautiful classroom allowing for virtual learning. Each classroom has a "pod" system so if one person is exposed to Covid, that pod is closed down as opposed to the whole building. My second grader follows the hybrid schedule which means he goes to in-person school two days a week and three days at cadence. His grades haven't been significantly affected by this schedule and his IEP is supported by the staff. Overall, I would highly welcome those who are searching for quality, professional, friendly, reliable, and overall safe childcare to look into the Cranston location. Not only are the Director and staff great, the parents and children are also a pleasure. It's always a plus when parent-teacher communication is open and they appreciate and welcome any feedback from the parents. Any time there have been issues during the day with my child, or I have had any concerns, I received updates from the school and was able to call or email the school and would receive a prompt response. In addition, their curriculum from pre-school age up to school-age is phenomenal! For school age, they separate the kids that have homework and it gives the kids time to do their homework so that you don't have to go crazy when you go home! During the year they hold parent nights where the children can hang out and the parents can do their own thing for a few hours, and also invite parents in for celebrations as well! During the summers the program packs it with so many activities from visiting local pools and beaches to going to museums and parks! The Children's Workshop really keeps my mind and heart at ease while I am at work and they're almost always open!
