I am great at ordering items online that end up being delivered through UPS. If I could get a PhD…read morein online ordering, I'd be at the top of my class. I have rarely done the reverse in which I need to send something through UPS. Well, it was a first for me yesterday! My cell phone recently died. It is under warranty, which means that I was eligible for a replacement phone in exchange for my dead one. I had to send the latter back and received a UPS label to print out. The idea is to slap this label onto my package, and then visit my local UPS store to drop it off. Simple. Easy. More importantly, it was free! My closest The UPS Store is on the north side Denison Street, just east of Woodbine Avenue. It's next to Hattendo and across from Swiss Chalet. I drove over here after work yesterday. There is always a ton of parking at this plaza. This review will be short because I spent less than a minute in the store. I walked in and two staff members said hi to me. The female staffer behind the counter asked if it was a drop-off. It was. Her male counterpart happily took my package from me, scanned it, and I was done. That's it? Yep. Painless and fast! I thanked both of them. They reciprocated. I checked my package's status online. It has made it to its destination this morning with proof of delivery. Yay! There are mailboxes for rent. Years ago, I rented a mailbox from a different The UPS Store location. I loved how I'd get a call from the store when I had mail. Should I need to drop off or send a package in future, I'd return here to get it done. (304)

They did a great job of taking their time and carefully hand wrapping everything. The owner was also great about multi-tasking when other customers arrived. I had previously stopped at a store in Sheppard where the line was 5 deep. So glad I drove a few miles further to this location.

This is a good service to have when you want items from the US that will not ship to Canada. You…read moremight end up paying double shipping (cost to ship to facility plus cost to ship from the facility to Canada), but for certain items it may be worth it. Shipping is more if you ship to your house instead of to the Markham or Mississauga facilities, so sometimes I make the drive. Some American websites will block shipping to the sister facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Le Creuset, Nike (Jordans) and Brandy Melville are examples. The parking lot at the Markham facility is completely ripped up right now, total gravel mess with raised cement bits. Because they are shipping cross border, it's fair that they might open packages occasionally. This time they opened one of my packages and I really wish that they had done a better job resealing it. The people working the counter are efficient. Small entrance but it is bright and clean.

I have been a customer of Cross Border Pickups (CBP) for over two years. Its main pickup location…read morehas been in Mississauga since its inception. I am fortunate to work in that city, so it only takes me five minutes to drive over there and pick up my goods from work. The concept is pretty straightforward. Instead of driving over to the States to shop or not be able to buy items online at US-based stores because they do not ship to Canada, you sign up for a free account with CBP. You are assigned a unique mailing address in Niagara Falls, NY, which you can use as your mailing address. Your shipments go to CBP's shipping facility in Niagara Falls. You are then notified that your items have arrived. After you fill out the item's details online, including price and sometimes its description, you approve your item to be shipped to either the Mississauga or Markham facility for pickup, depending on which location you specify as your default pickup location. It's painless! The Markham location recently opened. I finally had my chance to visit it and pick up my items. There was a customer in front of me picking up a TON of packages. He ended up incurring fees of close to $475. Fees are pretty reasonable considering that you do not do any heavy lifting, or shell out costs for a hotel, gas, or food when you physically shop in the US. My fees rarely hit $150, which includes duty and multiple packages. You pay roughly $7 or higher on the shipping costs of a package. To me, that's a steal considering that many businesses that I shop from do not ship to Canada. Even though it was my first visit, the woman helping me out knew who I was, and addressed me by my first and last names. It's a nice touch, as I am a regular customer. I commented on how nice and professional everything looked inside the store. She let me know that there is a faint odour from it being so new, but I didn't notice it at all. I picked up six items that I had shipped to me. A tip is to consolidate your packages, so you save a bit. She was friendly and helpful. As usual, you can pay by credit and debit cards, and cash. With credit cards, there is a small transaction fee attached, but it doesn't break the bank. There is plenty of parking at this loation. I placed all my packages in my car and happily left. The guy in front of me was still loading his items in his car's trunk as I drove away. I had a wonderful experience today and am thrilled that this service is available in my neighbourhood. Coincidentally, this location is a five-minute drive from home, so it's highly convenient for me to visit both locations. (311)
