I love the fact that A Place to Grow incorporates crafts for the 2s and unders as well! I love a cute craft even if it's just scribbles. One of the biggest pluses is that they do not force my child to nap. They provide the opportunity and calm time and if my child decides not to nap there is a separate play area with other children. They are also super affordable! All good things said, if you are looking for a daycare facility that sends constant updates via an app and provides you a video feed - this place is not for you. Personally, I don't want those things and I'm paying less than other facilities that provide these features.

One thing that made me feel good about leaving him with the daycare is the teacher immediately got to eye level and spoke to him. She took time to introduce herself to us. And when we were leaving I saw her guide my child to the group of kids and sit with him. Patting him on the back and reassuring him so that he was comfortable. You can't fake compassion and this did it for me. I can tell he likes the teachers so far as he didn't burst out crying when I arrived. Kids have a way of communicating what they need for you to know and I know the signs to look for. I can't wait to see how his day was today. I have a very low opinion of this school for the…read morefollowing reasons: 1) a male child exposed himself to my child and another child at this school. The school did not notify me of this issue - my child had to disclose it to me. When I told the school director about it she effectively did nothing about. Additionally, she did even notify the parents of the other effected child of the situation. 2) My child was vicitimed by a bully in her class for years. This situation resolved itself when they child left. The school's director tried many times to get me to understand that things like this happen with children and that I was blowing it out of portion. 3) My ex-spouse and I were involved in a very nasty custody battle for many years. The school and its adminstration constantly took sides. At one point when I lost custody the school's director effectively told me that the contract was with the other parent and that as such I would not receive any communication about my child and that I would be removed from the email update list and that they would not provide any updates on my child's progress. 4) Very high teacher turnover. The school only has 3 full time teachers and within a couple of years the school fired 3 teachers. 5) many parents fall into social tribes - the child see this behavoir and copy it. I found that child tended to function in groups that excluded other children. Even a teacher at the school who had children at the school were victimized by this type of ingroup/outgroup abuse by other students.

Everyone is happy, warm and welcoming and most importantly passionate about  their work and bringing out the best in each child. Our son has been thriving in the small family type environment and he enjoys the focused attention he receives. He enjoys school so much that he even requested to stay for after-school-care. I would describe myself as a very protective parent, but knowing that my son is at Anami gives me a tremendous peace of mind. Aside from the warm and caring environment, the curriculum is excellent and his learning and growth has been tremendous. It is a tight knit community were parents make new friends among themselves. We left Cadence three weeks ago after our daughter attended full-time for 13 months and our son…read morepart-time for one month. I want to be clear that we had many wonderful teachers during our time there. Unfortunately, the issues with administration, staffing, communication, and consistency ultimately made us uncomfortable continuing to send our children there. Over the course of the year, there were four directors and multiple assistant changes. Our daughter had six different teachers and assistants. Children were also frequently moved between classrooms due to staffing issues, making consistency nearly impossible. Communication from administration was consistently poor. We were not informed when both of our children's teachers left on the same day, and we frequently received little or no advance notice about staffing-related classroom closures. Families were repeatedly asked to keep their children home because of staffing shortages, sometimes with notice as late as 9:30 p.m. One evening, we were not informed that our daughter's classroom would be closed until after 6:00 p.m. We are still waiting for our refund for this day despite multiple phone calls. On one occasion, administration sent a message stating that drop-off was being closed because there were not enough parent volunteers. Rather than taking responsibility for the staffing shortage that led to the closure, the communication placed the blame on families for not volunteering. Regardless of the circumstances, we found that approach concerning and reflective of the larger lack of accountability we experienced. Communication regarding illness was another major concern. We became aware that staff had been informed of both a case of croup and a case of strep in our daughter's classroom, but those exposures were never communicated to us. Classes were also routinely combined at the end of the day because of staffing shortages, including after illness exposures, resulting in children from different classrooms being grouped together exposing more children. Our experience with our son also raised serious concerns about basic attention to detail. Within his eight days attending cadence, his bathing suit was sent home with another child and took approximately three weeks and repeated follow-ups to get back. His labeled bottle was sent home with the wrong child, and a different bottle was left in his cubby. Most concerning, his feeding plan was lost. For approximately two weeks, he was not being fed according to his plan because there was no consistent person in his classroom after his teacher left. For a childcare facility, I consider losing a child's feeding instructions and not following them for two weeks to be an extremely serious issue. I understand that staffing challenges happen, and I do not expect perfection. I do expect transparency, consistency, and confidence that the people caring for my children know their individual needs. Unfortunately, we did not have that confidence at Cadence. I would not recommend Cadence to families looking for a safe, consistent, attentive, and well-managed childcare environment. We ultimately decided that the lack of stability, communication, and accountability was not worth continuing.

All of the teachers are wonderful and have been there for years and have past elementary school teaching experience - they work on fine motor skills, which is something other preschools I toured didn't even mention. My daughter adores her teacher (same teacher my son had!) and I love how small and well cared for it is. I knew when I toured it that it was the right fit. They really are fantastic and prepare your children SO well for kindergarten.

CLS is a great place to get an education…read more Yes - the tuition is HEFTY (but about the same as Country Day and Providence Day) and - as a result - most of the student body is very very affluent. There is some diversity - but obviously not as much as some of the public schools. It is a place where students really do know their teachers, and teachers DEFINITELY know the students - you get individual attention at all levels - I feel totally comfortable calling any teacher to get feedback on my kids. Students feel very comfortable - and safe - in the classroom and on the campus. Speaking of the campus - it is beyond beautiful. Prettier than most colleges. Great classrooms, great learning environment. Great environment for the arts. Great (unbelievable) athletic facilities. Since the student body is small - everyone is involved in something - and more are involved in several "things". Not unusual to have a football athlete in a musical, the editor of the poetry journal involved in a sport, and the debate team, etc. Yes the students can be portrayed as "entitled". Hey - at $20k/year - their parents have invested a lot of money in their educations - and probably have money for 2nd homes, luxury cars, vacations, etc. School tries to emphasize community service, diversity programs, and giving back. However - the kids attitudes are formed at home for the most part - don't blame the school if kids appear to be spoiled - blame the parents. I seriously evaluated taking my kids out of CLS for high school and putting them in the neighborhood public school. I actually did some substitute teaching in the upper school - and found the students polite, respectful, and (gasp) actually interested in learning. It's a place where it is cool to be smart, be artistic, be an athlete, perform community service, understand the news, be a science nerd, and to be involved. One of my kids is in college - and said that she does feel that CLS gave her an advantage in college because "she knew how to write, how to study, how to plan, and how/when to ask for help".

You always get greeted at the door as you come in, all of the teachers acknowledge the kids even if they are in a different class. The teachers are in good moods all day, the kids are always busy, and the tricycle rally was so fun for my little ones. The facility is clean, tucked back, not next to apartments which always weirds me out a bit. Wish they offered meals and wish there was a covered drop off area where you can get the kids out when it is raining. The staff is well lead, the director is kind and honest, the owners love the school, it's a great, non-elitist, comfortable place to teach your kids.
