Our son started at Bumblebee after a period of time in a nanny share and I was initially nervous to transition into a larger setting than what we were used to. It was the best decision we could have made for our son. Having our son at Bumblebee felt as personal and loving as having a nanny share in our home. Maura and Elvia are incredibly attentive and affectionate, we felt so lucky! Maura is super communicative and I could check in on how my son was doing very easily. This came as a recommendation to us from a family friend whose son was here a year earlier, and our family is so grateful to send our little guy to Miss Maura everyday. She is the most genuinely caring and positive person, and our son lights up when he sees her every morning at drop off. She is incredibly communicative, sending daily texts on how the day went and pictures of some of the fun stuff the kids get to do throughout the day. I am writing this with the hopes that it prevents another tragedy like the one we have dealt with due to the caretakers and how they handled my son at this facility: My son went here for only four days, and two of those days, came home with severe bruising that could only have been caused by adult hands. The first time it was bruising on two areas of his body, so I notified Bumblebee's owner, Maura, sent her pictures, and tried not to assume the worst. She told me he probably hit his back on a doll crib and struggled too much in his high chair. However, two days later, he had bruising (confirmed by an expert to be finger tip bruises, indicating that they were grabbing him very hard) on eight areas of his body. I have attached pictures. Our pediatrician said she's never seen anything like this. I don't know what you have to do to a kid to cause bruising like this, but it has to be bad. I checked the Department of Social Services and a complaint was filed against the facility in 1/2021. Do not bring your child here, and furthermore, do not bring them to ANY facility until you check complaints filed on the Dept of Social Services' website. I will not be bringing my child to any facility ever again until I find one with cameras. read more

As mentioned by another reviewer, this can be a daunting task for first time parents to find a plce they feel comfortable in leaving their precious little one. My wife searched high and low in looking for a daycare center in Marin for our little guy, who started at about 14 months. She would come home in absolute TEARS some afternoons recounting to me how dismal some of the places were and how badly she saw some of the childen treated during her visits. We ended up going with Maura at Bumblebee and couldn't have made a better choice. Everyone we spoke with raved about Maura and we got a good feeling for her as well. Our son had a HARD time adjusting and we almost pulled the plug at one point as it was painful to see him sobbing when we dropped him off and picked him up. But we went with Maura's advice to actually add a day and bring him in earlier, which was against our intuition. It worked. Now he is STOKED when he gets there in the morning and doesn;t really want to leave when we pick him up. It's also super frustrating that he eats like a champ while at Maura's and then is the pickiest eater in the world when we get home. He loves the home cooked Brazilian food that Maura prepares which us gringos just can't seem to get right in our own kitchen. Maura is super flexible with us on timing and days, and leaves a few of her places open for "drop in" days for familes whoes children attend. She was also very communicative with text messages during the day while our son was adjusting and also is quick to call if she suspects he is ill or there are any problems. They do a lot of activites during the day and the children get out for fresh air often. The staff is great there as well, and our son is already bringing home new words for things in Spanish and Portugese. Maura really cares for "her children" and you can see that reciprocated by the children who all love her. The location is great also and very convienent. I highly reccomend Maura and Bumblebee daycare. read more

Maura is absolutely wonderful and I recommend Bumble Bee Daycare and Maura's services to any working parent looking to secure a safe and loving environment for their children to grow and learn. We often used the afterhours care and as a working, single-mom that was beyond helpful. When my boys were there (until December 1, 2012), they had yoga, storytime, music class and a well-rounded day of playing indoors and outdoors. The kids also receive breakfast, snack, lunch, and a late snack provided by her, depending on the age of your child(ren). The food is referred to as "yummy yummy" and tends to be a variation of vegetables, rice, beans, and meat. THE CHILDREN LOVE THIS. Healthy snacks, such as cut apples or fruit from the yard, are a plus. My boys, who already spoke a healthy amount of Spanish, were able to learn a bit of Portuguese and more Spanish during their time there. I would also recommend Maura if you've had bad experiences in the past and worry about childcare. My kids loved everyone there and loved going to school. They still ask about it! Maura would also send pictures occasionally to my mobile phone or email when the kids were having fun. She tends to have a waiting list, so sign up! Very trustworthy, I'd consider her a second parent and always willing to go out of her way to help. read more

Our now 2.5 year old child has been at Bumble Bee since July 2020 and has been incredibly well cared for and loved. The outdoor space is large with lots of great toys and I know he loves it -- the meals for the days always sound so delicious that I wish I were eating there every day! Haha Of particular note, Maura and her team took really good care of my little one when he had a broken leg last fall -- they adapted for him and took extra special care. My husband and I visited almost a dozen daycares in Corte Madera and the decision to go with Maura/Bumble Bee was a no brainer. Our daughter was in Maura's care from mid-2018 to December 2019. The moment you meet Maura, she exudes so much love and she has a limitless supply of affection for all her babies and their parents. When you leave your kids with Maura, it truly feels like you are leaving them with family, and this was super important to my husband and me. Also a huge bonus that Maura provides homemade meals! She's also super flexible and accommodating--it was important to us to not add to landfill waste with dirty diapers and Maura totally game to put our daughter's diaper in a separate bag so that they could be picked up and composted (that service is called Earth Baby--highly recommend!). I'm more than happy to provide a reference. If we were to have another one (aint' happenin), we would go to Maura again without hesitation. read more

My daughter attended Bumble Bee for a year or so, our experience was mixed... We had trouble finding an opening in Marin and were initially upbeat about the great setup Bumble Bee provides: fantastic play areas, good security, nice meals and reasonable fees. In general the quality of care was very good. After the initial pains of getting our child comfortable with the daycare routine - to be expected with any toddler - our child definitely enjoyed the time at Bumble Bee so a good experience on that front. Our difficulties were mainly with the management. On one occasion when we notified Maura that our child's grandmother would be collecting her on a certain day (and provided her name, phone number and copy of her driver's license), when my mother-in-law arrived the staff did not recognize her as they peered through the window and left her standing outside for 45 minutes. There were numerous occasions when we received flak for collecting our child early, even though we notified Maura ahead of time of the one-off changes in schedule. I felt like reminding Maura that she was working for us, not the other way around... The ultimate sour taste was left in our mouths when - the day after we notified Maura our daughter would be leaving the daycare - she suddenly threatened to start charging us extra fees for the early schedule we had arranged, fees that had not been mentioned in the year of attendance prior to us "giving notice". When we questioned the extra fees she retaliated by threatening to stop accepting the early drop-off that hadn't been a problem prior to us "giving notice". So in general we were comfortable with the quality of care but the management was at times abrasive, Maura is not someone you want to get offside. read more
