We feel incredibly lucky that our daughters get to attend Sweet Sunshine Daycare. If there's an opening, jump on it--you won't regret it! This place feels like a second home, and all the daycare families have become like our own extended family. As a child nutritionist, I'm picky about food, and Eliana, the owner, has exceeded all my expectations. She makes everything fresh and organic, and my kids eat everything! Sometimes she even sends home her delicious meals during breaks. (Thank you!) I remember visiting another school that offered typical "kid food," and I knew immediately it wasn't for us. My 4 yo son has been attending this daycare since last year. This is a very special place and I feel so lucky to have found it. Eliana, the owner, goes above and beyond for her kids. I get emotional even thinking about writing this review because how can anyone quantify the impact and value these early years of your child; entrusting that to a daycare/ school which essentially feels like an extension of your home. Filled with all the hope and love you can wish for. But such is this magical place -- it has been one of our best decisions to put our daughter here as soon as she turned 2 and she's now 5 and a half and just going to kindergarten. These 3+ years have been so wonderful, full of love and learning and immense friendships with her "classmates" and the parents we've bonded with along the way. Looking for daycare for the first time is an incredibly difficult process. My wife and I probably did not have a unique experience from other parents where the idea of handing our 21 month old daughter over to complete strangers was gut wrenching. We looked at a number of options until some friends told us about Sweet Sunshine Daycare in Corte Madera. After meeting the owner, Eliana, who gave us a tour of the location (it's a creatively converted home), we felt a lot better about dropping our daughter off on the first day. But still, we were nervous. Over the next few months we were put completely at ease about the process. Eliana, Vicky and Sandra became extended family to our daughter. She talked about them at home and ran to hug them each morning. Sweet Sunshine provided her with healthy food choices during the day as well as a variety of classes from music to dance to art. Our oldest daughter just "graduated" (they did a really nice send off for her) from Sweet Sunshine and started preschool but we now have our youngest (10 months) in there and love watching her go in and out of there with a huge smile on her face. I used Sweet Sunshine for my 18 month old after we moved to the area from out of state. I wasn't used to home daycares and I was very skeptical. However I fell in love and felt completely at ease when I walked in here. The owner keeps it immaculate, the toys are in great shape, the outside areas are clean and safe, and the caretakers obviously love the children. My daughter also fell in love. She was always afraid of people and cried at drop off until we came here. Then she practically ran in to see everyone and started giving lots of hugs. Picking her up in the evening was equally as easy. In the post COVID world you can rest assured that they are cleaning and taking care of themselves as well as the children. Our daughter started when she was 11 months old and now she is 18 months old, and i cannot be more please that she is there. At this age my daughter eat with fork and spoon, she is putting her dirty clothes in the bin for washing up, and after playing she also is putting the toys away, and all this because the way Eliana, Vicky and Glenda are teaching the kids to be. They have a music teacher as well and a storyteller, and also they cook organic food for the kids. Their dedication and passion is outstanding when is about the kids needs. I had interviewed a few other places but clicked with Eliana immediately. As a Latina I wanted my daughter to be in a setting where she heard other languages - here she is exposed to Spanish and Portuguese! My toddler has been at Eliana's for 18 months and I can't even begin to describe how happy I am to have stumbled upon Sweet Sunshine. It is the perfect union of fancy private preschool program-level activities and a warm nurturing family environment. Plus great rates! I would highly recommend Sweet Sunshine to any parent, and especially to moms of toddlers looking to transition back to the workforce, since Eliana is so good at integrating new kids and quelling parent anxieties and also she offers a great Preschool curriculum. She also offers part-time care and is really wonderful at working with parents' schedules. SS has Music, Art, and Spanish CLASSES (and not "Art - time" but an Art CLASS with a separate teacher and continuity and focus, same with Music and Spanish). The kids also learn about Nature in the backyard and garden and do Yoga and they focus on different themes to help learn colors, numbers, and letters. They also get wonderful, home cooked meals and everyone's dietary needs are met. Eliana is a wonderful teacher who cares deeply about the progress of all of her kids in all areas and is very knowledgeable in child development. When I was pregnant with my little one, I interviewed 14+ in-home daycare facilities and of all that I visited, Sweet Sunshine stood out high above the others. My daughter has been there for 2 years now and absolutely loves it as much as her father and I do. Eliana has transformed her home into an amazing learning environment and between her, Glenda and Gladis they provide outstanding, nurturing care for the children. They have a structured learning program and many days bring in outside teachers for music, art, dance and a pre-school curriculum. She decorates the house in various learning themes to support whatever they are teaching or the season - every couple of weeks it looks completely different inside. She has a beautiful back yard equipped with all kinds of fun play structures so the little ones are able to spend some good time outside as well as inside learning and playing. My daughter is definitely developing social and verbal skills that seem to be advanced (of course we're biased!) And at the end of the day, there's nothing more comforting than your child happily running into daycare every morning when you drop her off and when you pick her up, she's super happy and energized. Having been a client of the prior day care at the same location, we can attest to the upgrades mentioned in previous Yelp posts. Eliana has put a lot of effort to creating a clean, child friendly environment, maximizing the outdoor spaces for the kids to play. As stated in previous posts, Eliana and Vicky and Sandra are very caring and have created a loving and stimulating environment for the kids. They enjoy so many enrichment programs - yoga, spanish, music, art. We are also so happy with the food that Eliana provides. It is very important to us that our child develop healthy eating habits and we feel that the nutritional and organic food that Eliana provides supports that. Our son (3.5 y.o.) has just "graduated" Sweet Sunshine after 2 years attending Eliana's very well run daycare! This review is long due, but I wanted to wait until we are no longer affiliated with the school for an unbiased an honest review. We visited at least 15-20 daycare centers two years ago, including about 8-10 of them that are run by Eliana's friends - other hard working women who stick together and have X-Mas parties jointly, which is very nice. We picked Eliana's school and we are definite that we made the best choice! It might sound strange, but I think the final decision point was the food that Eliana serves. Other schools had similar programs and were very nice, too, but for us, what really stuck out was the food that she and the other two teachers (Sandra and Vicky) prepare every day by hand, using organic ingredients. The milk provided is also organic. Our son is a good eater, so he has asked for a second helping many times (and of course received and ate it!) Sweet Sunshine is a very well run and very flexible daycare that is also a pre-school, as they have many learning opportunities: Spanish, art, music, yoga... Teacher Angela comes almost every day to do art work with kids. On average, our son brought home four artworks a week that run for a year, then they do the same art, so we can compare each year how they evolve. The first year, a chicken's legs were upside down ;-) Then they were "correct" the next year... We put up all the artwork in our son's room - we have literally hundreds of them, so many of them had to go into an album for keepsake. Another huge bonus is the hundreds of photos Eliana, Vicky and Sandra take monthly and post it on a secure online account for parents to see, enjoy and download. We have about 10,000 photos for the two years - many of them that has our son's precious little moments preserved. For us, the schedule was also a huge plus: they are open from early morning until late afternoon, but we dropped off our son at 8:30 am. Since they get breakfast there, it meant our son could sleep until 8 am and we can leave at 8:20 am. They also get mid-morning snacks, lunch, then after napping an afternoon snack, as well as "dinner." Dinner is basically an early meal, around 4:30 pm, so that Eliana does not send the kids home on an empty stomach. This is a life saver if you want to hit the park or the supermarket or run errands with your kid on the way home. Sometimes the "dinner" is a pasta or some healthy snacks, but it is really nice and we know some parents who do not give dinner to their kids after this, just put them to bed early. Since our son slept late, like around 9 pm, we had dinner after "dinner" around 7 pm - and we could go to the park or ride the bike beforehand, no need to worry about empty stomachs! Another huge plus is that Eliana is open year-round (minus the national holidays as per local school district schedules and a couple weeks for X-Mas and summer holidays). Our son never got sick while attending Eliana's daycade during his two-year-term. Not even once! In his previous daycare (in a different city), he was sick every other week! Eliana's place is very clean, and most importantly the kids spend a lot of time outdoors in her large back yard that is very well equipped with benches, slides, swings, little moving things, etc... They even provide a hat for kids (we saw those on the pictures). We never had a problem with napping, either: our son napped 1.5-2 hours every day, with the other kids. This review could go on and on for pages and pages, and I cannot recall any negative things that I could mention. Eliana, Vicky, Sandra and Angela and the other outside teachers (who come for music, yoga), are professional, kind, cheerful and very nice human beings. We have been truly blessed with them! We have received countless gifts from our son for Mom's day, Dad's day, Christmas, Easter - that they prepare with the kids: hand prints, balloons, etc. Very nice and sweet! I highly recommend Sweet Sunshine to anyone who lives in the area and needs quality, flexible and affordable daycare for their little ones! The parents community is great, too, we have become friends with several other parents and intend to still keep in touch! Sweet Sunshine Daycare is more than a daycare..its a family! My son has been going there since he was 10 months old and he is almost 3 now and striving in all aspects. When he started he needed some extra attention and Eliana and her staff has been nothing short of supportive and truly caring. My son just loves Eliana, Vicky and Sandra and talks about them all the time at home. I also love Eliana's preschool prep curriculum. My son comes home with something new everyday...new artwork, new vocabulary and energized excitement. Eliana and her staff has created a warm and loving home environment, complete with art classes, yoga classes, story time, Spanish class and just fun fun fun!! Teacher Angela is his favorite :) I see him growing and learning by leaps and bounds and it is a pure joy to watch. Where should I start...this place is amazing. Eliana and her team are so caring and thoughtful. Our son was a little over 1 year old when he started going to this daycare. He loves it so much. Every day he is so excited to go. It means the world to us as parents. The daycare set up is just perfect. With two different spacious outdoor areas, air conditioned indoor space for those hot summer days, music classes, home cooked meals, birthday and holiday parties, artworks he brings home almost every day. She even provides a detailed list to take home with what your child eats and when, when nap time is and diaper changes. Most importantly you can tell Eliana and her team are so lovely and caring. Unfortunately due the Covid 19 times we both lost our jobs and sadly now have to leave the country to go back to Europe. Which we will work out. But we are so sad to have our son leave her place. He was not a very verbal little guy when he started in the program and now he is talking up a storm. My daughter has been at Sweet Sunshine since she was about 10 months old. She's now getting ready for pre-school. For the two plus years in between, I can find nothing to fault this place for. My daughter comes home telling me about the fun things she did, always with some craft or card. The parents create a little community of their own, as well. My husband does most drop offs and pick ups and gets hailed at the mall or the coffee shop by other parents who know him on sight. Full family holiday get togethers also foster that supportive atmosphere. They are pragmatic about sick kids, focused on pre-school preparedness and boud and determined to have a good time. Spanish, music and dance classes plus healthy food included. As a working mom, there is nothing (short of staying home yourself) that comforts you more than knowing your child is being cared for by a team like this. They get bonus points for teaching a bit of ecology with the citrus trees in the backyard that the kids pick clean and get to take home and eat! read more
