As of 12.23.2024, the library was not well maintained. Books were rummaged through and bent out of shape. Even more disturbing was the fact that the whole unit had been shifted upon the concrete in which it sat. I still have to give four stars for this one because donors are still volunteering their reads to the program. Please teach your children (and unruly adults) to be gentle with books and to treat them with respect so that others may foster a love of reading.

There were several books inside when I visited on 12.23.2024. Therefore, I saved most of my donations for the other 5 public little libraries that I was aware of... one of them was a brief walk away at nearby City Park. Prairie Haven Cemetery is what some Hobbsans refer to as the "old" side…read more It's simply just across the street from the Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Its address is 2101 E Stanolind Rd. It is fenced and gated. Maintained by the City of Hobbs, New Mexico. The hours are April 1-October 31 from 8AM-7PM and November 1-March 31 from 8AM-5PM. There is an office with separate hours at the Memorial Park across the road. Someday I will be there to ask where my grandfather's grave is so I can have a headstone placed there. If you volunteer with the VFW like my daughter and I did today Sunday, May 24, 2026, I would encourage you to bring a screwdriver and a hammer. This is so you can more easily insert those tall flags in front of the graves of military members because the desert ground is terribly hard. Sometimes if the dirt is mixed with sand, it's even harder to plant the flags. We gently cleaned up many graves... military members or not. We couldn't help ourselves. I will bring a knife, a brush maybe and some other tools to cut back the grass from the edge of especially the flat laying headstones. Some were so covered up by overgrowth! It happens! Nice quiet area on a Sunday morning.

I like the idea of community members coming together to grow produce by working together and using their hands. All of the plants and soil looked really healthy whenever we stopped by on June 20, 2026. I just did some drive-by photos because it was really hot and I didn't want anybody to think that we were trying to steal any plants. Lol. It's located in the middle of an oil patch in Denver City. Good job, Texans.

Somebody had taken the time to organize it and keep it tidy. This was one of the few little libraries that had adult books. The company I work for had a truckload of cardboard that we wanted recycled. Here's the process: + Have everything separated before arriving. + Don't be a douche bag and let your items fly out of the pickup going down the highway. I used a large cinderblock to weigh down all the boxes we had after stacking them somewhat strategically. Worked like a charm. + There's usually somebody at the entrance to assist you. The last few items are recycling. take your address and license plate as this is a service free of charge to Lea County residents. + once you've been directed to your spot, you can go ahead and turn your vehicle off and stay inside. They'll do the work! The staff members are very friendly and helpful. They keep the area clean and there is no debris or suspect metal or nails (or the like) where your vehicle will be driving.
