We were told 15 minutes and they weren't wrong. They were SO accommodating in English and just wanted you to have the best experience. We just so happened to pop in on a special event featuring a Rome bartender so we actually got 2 menus to choose from. No complaints here! I completely expected to grab one drink and move on. My husband liked it so much we stuck around. Every single cocktail was amazing. Yes, the price is sort of high (depends where you come from), but they were worth every penny! This has got to be the best bar I've been to in a long while. The last time I felt good about a bar was about 5 years ago at The Nomad in NYC. You're welcomed by this bright red door that's so inviting. Once you enter, the lights are low with a dark speakeasy setting. The bartenders are super friendly and helpful with giving explanations about their menu. Their menu is the best I've ever seen. It's practically a picture book with quotes. You either choose the drink based on it's ingredient list OR you choose the picture on the right with a subtle quote on life and mood. It's how you fee which is personal. I chose a cocktail that was refreshing. It had white Japanese tea, Japanese whiskey, and a sour note topped with a bright flower. My fiancée had a fruity cocktail with champagne floral notes and also topped with a flower. The drinks were the best! The Little Red Door is the best cocktail bar I've visited for 2020 so far. We found this spot on 50 of the worlds best bar and it was such a nice bar! We waited in the line outside for ~30 minutes or so. Once in, the ambiance is darkly lit , giving a nice vibe. Really cool little bar in the Marais district! It's in a little street kind of dark at night but you will notice a tiny red door very well lit and noticeable. The little red door is not the actual door you enter through, the main entrance is just on its side by the wall. The bar is very cozy and comfortable, we had a large group and were dotted in the back corner full of comfy armchairs and sofa. This bar has a very unique menu that changes regularly. When we were there the menu was a beautiful bound book and the waitress explained that the menu currently plays on words and expressions from languages around the world. The book/menu had colorful art and a description of a single word from a different language on each page. The drinks are inspired by the meaning of the word on the page. The cocktails can look fairly pricy at first (starting at 14€ each) but it is definitely worth a try just for the atmosphere and experience. read more

Despite my three star rating, the enchanting Little Red Door is one of the finer cocktail bars I've been to. It's charming, it's intimate, and the level of mixology possessed by the bartenders is unbelievably deep. First things first, the little red door at the entrance doesn't grant you access to the bar. That would be the wall-looking door to the left. Don't be like us and take four years to figure this vital piece of information out with another confused couple outside the bar. The cozy bar is small and if you're lucky enough, you'll land a seat at the bar. The large chairs are extremely comfortable. Most significantly, you can watch the bartenders in their element. They are creative, charismatic, and simply fun to watch. The presentation, technique and showmanship of our cocktails had me weak in the knees. I'm a self-proclaimed cocktail fanboy, Little Red Door delivered on impressing me with their extensive expertise and unique flavor pairings. I loved our cocktails so much so, that I wanted to order another. Crazy, right? Well, that's when Little Red Door went downhill. For 20 agonizing minutes, I attempted to order us more cocktails. I couldn't grab anyone's attention. And I was sitting at the bar... I'm not shy by any means, it wasn't me being naïve. They were understaffed, behind schedule, uninterested in paying attention to the patrons a few inches away. Eventually I confronted a server on the floor and asked for our check. This is a pretty neat speakeasy! On the outside, you'll see a little red door, haha. The actual entrance is to the left of it. Inside, it is intimate and cozy wherever you sit. However, since it is small, we had to wait outside just for a few minutes! Their menu is a displayed as a storybook. Each page contains a drink with a sentence that conveys the vibe of the drink. This is a high concept bar, while we were there the menu was broken down into separation of taste and... essence of a particular flavor. Drinks were either made with an ingredient, but did not taste like it, or tasted like something without it having that ingredient. Or something like that. We were there for the last day that they were serving this menu. I got the impression that they change the menu frequently. The drinks were interesting, thoughtful and most of them were very tasty. Even if the drink didn't hit on the flavors that you were looking for, it was still an enjoyable experience. Overall, the concept was very enjoyable, and the drinks well made. Probably the most in-depth mixology drinks I enjoyed in Europe. It's ranked one of the top 50 bars in the world. They obviously really care about their craft. Interestingly for many locals in Paris it seems more like just a hangout bar. You have to line-up to enter, but the line moves pretty quick. Getting a seat is difficult and most people are not standing. The front guy tried to get me a seat, but accidentally tried to get me a seat someone was holding for someone who hadn't arrived (yet). They have a nice cocktail lookbook that shows and explains the local producers they work with for each cocktail and the thought process behind it. It was a nice touch. Still - this is an experience I highly recommend having. I really miss great cocktail bars since the pandemic, many of my favorite spots have lost bartenders or shuttered. The bartender was friendly although a little hard to flag down after my first drink. Overall - highly recommend just for the experience. read more

Low key, I think this place is a bit racist. My husband and I arrived around 11:30pm on a Friday night. There was no line. We were told they were at capacity and by the time they would have room to let us in, they would be closing. Mind you, they close at 2am. Hmmm ... really?? Definitely a must try if you have time in Paris! Food/Drink: the drinks are so special here! Their menu is based off the concept in which each drink is called a word with no dictionary meaning but they attempt to recreate the feeling of these words with the drink. Wow. I don't think I've ever said "this drink is so well-balanced," and meant it quite as much as I did here. We tried the Flâner and Mauri which were both incredible. The menu is a journey in and of itself - a beautiful picture book with the cocktails each named after a location and meant to evoke a sense of place. I had a blast on both visits to the Little Red Door during my May 2019 trip to Paris. Super friendly staff, one of the bartenders is a British (this is important because poor me don't speak French) and he explained their menu concept nicely. They took words that cannot be translated from all over the world and came up with drinks that describe the words. On both visits, I noticed most patrons are tourists but don't let that distract you because their cocktails are legit. AWFUL service! VERY rude bartender/waitress with the curly hair. I'm not an alcoholic or a drinker. I looked through the menu and was not sure of how a lot of the ingredients would taste so I simply asked what was a cool looking drink. She went on to say "I'll put water in something cool looking, you just want to take a picture and post it on Instagram" Super rude! This is a speakeasy I came to visit on vacation. A lot of people are interested in taking a picture of the "little red door" concept & probably cool looking drinks they have to offer. I'm not one to complain about how a drink tastes. It's located on the street of Le Marais. It's hard to miss the "little red door" that is well lit, but know that you won't actually enter through that tiny door. If facing the door, push on the wall to the left and you will be transformed into a cozy, welcoming speakeasy-esque bar. We decided to sit in the loft, which was a mistake. Please sit at the bar so you can see the bartenders working their magic. One thing that makes this place unique is their menu. It looks like an actual bound book and features cocktails that play on human emotion. The menu is limited, but all are unique. Service here was excellent. Our server checked on us several times and also had some cool information to share with us about The Little Red Door and Paris. He also recommended Tales and Spirits for our next stop in Amsterdam. On a trip to Paris with my friend, one of her friends who had lived there for a few months said we cannot visit France without coming here. She was right. Little Red Door is a speakeasy-style cocktail bar. It's very small inside, so the line to get in goes down the block. We arrived on a Saturday night around 11pm, and we waited for about 30minutes to get in. Since it was cold, the bouncer brought out cups of tea to everyone waiting outside! Amazing. Anyway, inside it has a bit of an Alice in Wonderland feel. The decor slightly quirky with mismatched furniture. The menu is a picture book. Basically the whole point of this place is to order a drink based on a drawing. They hired 11 artists from around the world, and each of them drew a picture based on how the specific drink made them feel. So what you're supposed to do is pick the drawing that speaks to you the most, and that's the drink you get. (FYI: You can cheat, there's a little flap on each of the pictures, and when you open it you see the drink ingredients). When our drinks came, I thought I was poisoned by mine. It was pure licorice which I really don't like, but switching it for another drink was no big deal (I'm assuming this happens often). They also have a normal bar where you can order anything you want, not necessarily something from the storybook menu. If you're in Paris, stop here. Awesome, awesome, awesome. read more

Absolutely loved this tucked away, speakeasy feeling cocktail bar in the Marais neighborhood of Paris. It's a bit easy to miss, so look for the iconic but unassuming red door from the street. However, save yourself the embarrassment of trying to open the red door (it's actually a one way mirror and not an operating door, which makes for quite an enjoyable watching experience from the inside) and open the door to the left. The space itself is dimly lit and cozy with an incredibly friendly staff ready to greet you. There's tables in the main aisle along the full bar as well as a small mezzanine area with additional seating and a couch area at the rear. It seems from other reviews that the menu theme changes quite a bit, which I appreciate since every visit isn't necessarily the same. On our visit, the cocktail menu, or book rather, was a "Menu of Universal Values" with wonderfully illustrated, double page spreads dedicated to a different emotion or value that the staff identified with and had converted into a cocktail. One of my favorites was Security, a milky rum concoction served in a shallow bowl that made me want to snuggle up in a blanket. Prices for drinks were reasonable for such a solid cocktail bar, and the music, ambience, crowd, and service couldn't be beat. We all had a wonderful time hanging out at the Little Red Door! THIS IS MY FAVORITE BAR IN THE WORLD. After bar hopping in five continents, living in NYC, and going out of my way to try as many cocktail bars and speakeasies as possible - I can say this is one of the best. It was the most fun that I've ever had at a bar. The cocktails are truly craft cocktails. All the bartenders are artists and know what they're doing. My cousin and I were probing them with intense questions and every time, we got an answer that delivered. LRD's menu is also top notch as you select the image that resonates with you the most and watch it become translated into a drink. The service is really what sets LRD apart from any other bar. In Paris, despite the rude French stereotype, I met some of the nicest people in the city. They were attentive, accommodating, and so friendly. If you come to LRD, sit at the bar and it will be one of the most fun experiences of your life. read more

Such a cool find! I heard about The Little Red Door via a web article listing 35 secret bars around the world. Since my wife and I were traveling to Paris, we decided to check it out. Even knowing the address and having read exactly where the actual door is, it was still alarming to come around the corner and only see the Little Red Door! We entered and were immediately greeted by a jovial gentleman whose name we did not get. He asked where we wanted to sit, and (unfortunately) we decided on the mezzanine. I say unfortunately because it was only my wife and me up there. I love her more than anything, but all of the bartenders and customers downstairs were having great conversations that we wished we were a part of. Anyway, our bartender brought us the "menu" which is actually a book with flip open "doors" describing human emotions that everyone feels. My wife, the successful and responsible one, chose Achievement which was a vodka and champagne concoction. I'm more selfish and and pleasure-seeking, so I chose "Hedonism", which was a mixture of whisky and a wine with some other additions. I am actually pretty surprised that this made the worlds best 50 bars to honest. We went in shortly after opening to try some drinks. The lounge is really cool- great music and nice decor. It has a good vibe! It was downhill from there unfortunately. While the bartenders were nice, the drinks just weren't that good. I love a creative cocktail, but the "cool" factor can't be at the expense of taste, especially at those prices. We had four cocktails between the two of us and I genuinely would not recommend any of them. We didn't even finish the last two. There are so many cocktail bars in Paris that I might suggest a different one despite the accolades. read more

The menu does change, but currently the drinks are inspired by Architecture. Each drink is decorated and paired with a textured picture matching the different architectural style. There's things like Art Deco, Baroque, Modernism, Brutalism. Drinks ranged anywhere from €6 to €20. Everything was mixed to perfection and the bar tenders definitely knew their stuff. Atmosphere is casual. There's lounge chairs, candles, and low lighting. We arrived around 8pm and there was a lot of available seating. By 9pm, the place was completely full. Definitely a must visit if you enjoy cocktails and you're in Paris. LOL Tip: Do not actually try to open the Little Red Door at the front of the restaurant. The actual entrance is the panel on the left... Just push it and it opens. I can see why this bar is ranked #5 in the world! Fantastic ambiance, great service and especially great drinks. Personally i am a bourbon/ whiskey drinker and love trying drinks with that spirit.
