They were booked out a few months and unfortunately, we had to cancel our summer appointment because of sickness. We finally got in today and had the best appointment! The office shares a drive with a daycare, so head to the right when you turn in. It's a beautiful Tiffany blue building with plenty of parking. It doesn't even feel like a dentist office when you walk in through the doors - everything is nautical themed, there's an electric fireplace, 2 TVs (one was playing Frozen - score!), and a canoe/kayak (sorry can't tell the difference) was hanging over the reception desk. Check in was quick as a first timer - everything was filled out on an iPad. We were required to mask and get our temperatures taken upon arrival. Our appointment started promptly on time with 2 dental hygienists/assistants walking us back and asking if we wanted a private room or the open space with all the other kids. We opted for the open space because my toddler performs better when he's around his peers :). Our hygienist was gentle and offered my son a pop-it to keep his hands busy while she counted and cleaned his teeth. They had a TV playing Frozen on the ceiling and gave him sunglasses to wear. It took 2 hygienists to get his PA X-rays done, but they were successful with distracting him and getting him to cooperate. I liked that I was able to stay with him but was never needed to intervene because they had everything under control - truly experts at handling kids! Dr. Meggan reviewed his X-rays, gave us tips to keep him cavity free and gave him a fluoride treatment (covered once a year with dental). She even remembered our cousins who recommend us to her! At the end, my son got to pick out 2 prizes for cooperating: a bouncy ball and a grow your own dino egg. We were checked out and the receptionist gave me a print out of my dental insurance coverage - so very helpful as it allowed me to know what was covered and what to expect on our bill. Overall, this office is amazing. All the staff was helpful, caring and kind. Thank you so much for a great first experience! We'll be back in 6 months!

I would rather forgo a coffee bar and have better communication. Should have stuck with the other practice in Kentwood. Whether truth or facade it seemed like I was more than a wallet to them.

It was already hard enough finding a dentist in the area that accepts my insurance and who could see me sooner than later and by later I mean a few months from now. I came in with pain in my lower left teeth and when they took x-rays they found out I still had wisdom teeth that were impacted and need to be extracted. OK that's fine I'm totally down for that, at least my insurance covers 80% of it so that shouldn't be too bad. But here's where things became really sleazy and messed up. I was told that I was going to need to get my wisdom teeth extracted before I could get a cleaning done. Then they have the audacity to tell me that I need a comprehensive dental cleaning appointment and guess how much I have to pay out-of-pocket because insurance won't cover it? Nearly $4500. I straight up said I don't have that kind of money and then I was told that they have a financing option, cool well I still don't have that kind of money, I live paycheck to paycheck and my husband and I have separate banking accounts, he's not gonna help me pay for this, he expects me to pay for my own stuff as he as he believes these bills are my responsibility regardless of it being under his insurance. I mentioned something about "thanks Trump" in regards to my wages being garnished due to the student loan debt being reinstated by the Department of education, and Ingrid the financer had the nerve to say "I wouldn't blame it entirely on him" so I know that I'm not in good hands in this place which is really disheartening as a woman because this clinic is run entirely by women. I ended up calling a dental clinic downtown with rave reviews over the quality of work, a dental clinic that has been in business since the 80s and the lady on the phone told me that she was 66 years old, she's been doing dental work since she was 18, And in all her years of dental work she has never heard of such a philosophy. And my best friend had the same thing happen with her boyfriend who has military dental insurance. They feel that they are justified in this "philosophy" of theirs but there is no justification in denying a basic cleaning to a new patient because you want them to get their wisdom teeth taken out first after you just told them that a cleaning will help them with the health of their gums and prevent further decay which is something that I was having an issue with. I am so upset considering how close this place was to me and it was in a safe area, I will not recommend this dental clinic to anyone they will rip you off.

Dr. Mailloux took the time to address long-standing concerns we've had with our youngest son's tongue tie--something we've struggled to get a resolution to over the years. She explained how the tongue tie may be impacting his speech and may even be contributing to crowding in his teeth. Not only did she take the time to thoroughly explain these connections, but she also provided us with a referral to a speech therapist who can help strengthen his tongue muscle and work on mouth motor skills. She even gave us practical tips for at-home exercises, including the use of a particular straw to support tongue strengthening. After years of feeling unheard by other professionals, it was such a relief to finally have someone who understood and provided real answers. She also went above and beyond in discussing how our older son's mouth breathing could be directly linked to his sleep issues and even his ADHD. Dr. Mailloux shared two book recommendations to help us better understand the negative impacts of mouth breathing and how beneficial it is to retrain the body to breathe through the nose. My son was 1 for his first cleaning and it was fast and efficient and he was not scared due to the way they work with kids. We have had a few X-rays and that was easy and kids did great. We had an emergency fall with our son when he was two and they were quick to get him in and take x-rays right away to see what was going on and address it right away and then follow up to make sure he was okay. The kids love the prize they get each time too! We will keep coming back here.
