Broadmarsh Kennels and Cattery
(2 reviews)
I wrote a review for Broadmarsh Kennels and Cattery a bit ago, but Yelp has decided it was too good…read moreto be true. Well, let me tell you, Broadmarsh Kennels and Cattery are wonderful. We just used them again to care for our 2 cats while we went on holiday. Our cats have been going to Broadmarsh since they were kittens, so going on two years now. The staff always greet us and our boys with a smile and hello. They remember our boys by name and get excited to see them, as by their website and facebook page you will see, they love each pet that comes into their care, and the reviews on those pages are glowing as well. Broadmarsh have very clean facilities, and they care for your pet as you would. One of our cats has special dietary needs and they are happy to administer medication and feed him using his special food and instructions. On one visit, our cat needed extra special care and they took exceptional care of him. They were happy to speak with me every day, sometimes a couple of times a day, giving me updates. They are happy to be contacted through Facebook and will gladly post photos of your pet while you are away. I know that we will always use Broadmarsh to board our cats. When we collect them, they are healthy, happy, and very clean. They settle in back home without any problems, and we attribute this to the good care they receive at Broadmarsh.

Top notch cleanliness and all the other cats in the cattery were well looked after, clean, and seemed calm. Our boys started staying at Broadmarsh when they were very young kittens and were cared for just as we would care for them at home with lots of love and attention. Broadmarsh staff are always quick with a smile and cuddle for our boys, and they keep in touch through Facebook to help if you are having pet separation anxiety. I would like to commend them and thank them for the superb care our cats received in April. Unfortunately, one of our boys became very unwell and needed to go to the vet and needed special care and medications. Broadmarsh took care of everything for us until we were able to get back to our poor sickly boy. They did such a good job of keeping us informed and caring for him, and monitoring him. It made a bad situation less stressful knowing that Broadmarsh could and would give top care and treatment. We will always use Broadmarsh cattery for our boys, we couldn't ask for better.

Ron came to our house and told us about what services the company offered and we were very impressed. We hired him to look after our two dogs for ten days, staying at our house over night, walking them daily and feeding them daily. On top of that he offered to mow our lawn, look after the garden and he kept the house very tidy. We are very impressed with the service he gave and have no hesitation in recommending his business to anyone else. Mark and Jenni Harris

Staff are really nice and helpful and there's also a big selection of daft squeaky toys in a variety of mad shapes available. Other animals are catered for - rabbit food, cat treats, budgies bells etc are can be purchased and it's all very reasonably priced.

It is a nice setup inside and it is full of treats, toys and food for a variety of animals including dogs, cats, birds and rabbits. The staff are always very pleasant and helpful, they know what they are talking about and have previously recommended vets and grooming services to me before, which is always very handy to know. The prices are not too bad as I have been to more expensive pet stores in Birmingham before. I am not sure what the other items are like, but my cat certainly likes the cat food from here, so that is great. I would recommend this store to those in the area who have pets!

Em's is one such pet store that I've used on occasion and it's ok, but nothing special. It's clearly been there for some time and looks it. The interior is a little tired and could do with a lick of paint, but that doesn't mean it's a bad shop. Most pets are catered for here and you will, after an initial hunt, find what you're looking for. They also, strangely, sell a small selection of household goods, like brooms. Actually, now that I think about it and considering the amount of cleaning up I do after my dogs, brooms is a fairly clever thing for a pet shop to sell!

So I was surprised to discover that it was actually a pet food shop rather than a florist. In fact - they also cut keys, sell mops and fishing bait, and give free Thai massages whilst playing the banjo. OK, so, that last bit was a lie, but you get the picture. Anyway, this gets a thumbs up from me, for being a lovely, unexpectedly flowery and multi-faceted pet food shop - replete with friendly owner. It was also rather convenient as I did actually need to get some cat food - so where better to be than a pet food store? They seemed a little under-stocked in the whole generic pet food stakes, which isn't necessarily the greatest thing considering that it does actually call itself a pet food store - rather than a pet food/ florist/ key cutting/ fish bait/ mop and broom sellers. That said, I love a bit of a multifaceted local business, and the cat was happy that she got something out of it, so it's all good, really.
