I was in Brisbane for work (my last days of work at Accenture, in fact!) for three nights, and spent two of those dinners at Little Singapore after this place was suggested to me by a friend. The two dishes ordered were the Butter Herbed Chicken with Rice and Hainanese Chicken with Buttered Rice. The first thing I'd like to say is that the servings were very generous. Having walked into the restaurant starving, in the mood for celebration after getting made redundant, I managed to fill myself with a single serving and then some. I was stuffed for both meals. The butter herbed chicken was very buttery, and with a strong hint of coconut. Can't exactly be sure what herbs were used, but I did like the aroma of whatever they used. The chicken was nicely fried, not too dry. Better than I expected. I've never eaten any similar dishes so there's not much for me to compare. As for the chicken rice... ok in my humble opinion, I know a thing or two about chicken rice, so let's break it down: 1. Chicken: The chicken is steamed, and quite tender and juicy. TIck. 2. Rice: made with chicken juices. Tick. 3. Sauces: lacking thick dark soy sauce. Buzz. 4. Pickled veggies: Not sure why they were there, apart from filling an empty slot in the multi-sectioned serving dish. Buzz. 5. Fresh veggies: bean sprouts, not a big deal I suppose, but most places use choy sum. Meh. 6. Soup: At least it looks like it's soup made from whole food ingredients, not chicken powder soup like at some places. Tick. I thought the service was fine - got served quickly enough and food came quickly enough. A nice eatery and a good option for that part of town, particularly since the Asian options in Brisbane City aren't exactly good. read more

The portions are probably the restaurants saving grace. I have been twice in the past week with friends and Little Singapore just doesn't cut it in terms of food quality. I had the Singapore Fried Vermicelli. First off, TOO greasy. When it says that it has pork and prawns. I would say that it has tiny pieces of pork tossed into the vermicelli. It didn't have the nicest flavor and I just couldn't believe how greasy my thin vermicelli noodles were. My friend liked his curry chicken with rice. My other friend ordered the laksa and I will tell you that you'll find incredible laksa in Sunnybank. The noodles were OK but the soup base was just not as spicy and full of flavor. I found it all pretty bland. The eggplant was tough as well. The pearls that came with the bubble tea were sticking together which is never a good sign. I was not particularly impressed and this place is definitely not on my top 30 of places to eat or recommend in Brisbane. read more

Little Singapore on Charlotte St is another one of my lunchtime stars. This location is the bigger of the two Little Singapore restaurants in the Brisbane CBD. They are a fully licensed venue, so you can enjoy a beer/wine/vodka with your meal (at lunch time if you're feeling a little bit naughty!). Their menu consists of a vast array of asian (Mostly Malaysian) dishes branching all across the East. From Char Kway Teow to Hor Fun. From Chow Mien to Beef Tendon. With a rather large dining area, you can comfortably meet your friends for lunch there instead of bringing it back to the cubical farm in your office, alone. read more

The food is easily shared amongst 2 people, and this branch is no different from the other ones I have gone to. Service quick, food comes out pretty quickly too. The range of drinks mostly centre around bubble teas, iced teas and green and black tea combinations with fruit flavours. My favourite dishes would be the dry curry mee, a classic... although it was a tad spicier here than the other places I'd gone... and the chow kuey teow a classic malaysian favourite. Can't go past the hokkien mee or the beef ho fan either... unsure about the laksas, but you won't leave hungry or disappointed. read more

I enjoyed the food at Little Singapore. The dishes might not come out exactly the same as in Singapore, but they tasted good anyway. We ordered the roti canai with lamb, and the beef dry noodle. The roti canai was excellent, with nice crispy roti and some nice spices on the lamb. Portions were pretty large - I don't eat a lot so there was enough left over for a second meal the next day. Too bad roti doesn't taste as good reheated. The service was pretty prompt but the restaurant was only a third full. Overall I thought it was pretty good value and tasted good. It's not exactly a place to go for a special occasion, but if you don't feel like cooking (for two meals!) then it's a good choice. read more

My partner and I heading to Little Singapore after work on a Wednesday. We arrived and seated straight away. The menu isn't as extensive as most places but it doesn't need to be when the food is good. Naturally we ordered too much food and tried something different which is always exciting. The serving sizes are large so don't think you need to order an entree each, then a main each plus share a fried rice as you will role out of the place! The price is excellent, the food is delicious and fresh. Well worth ducking in here for a quick feed.u read more

We did not have a good experience at Little Singapore. The service was bad - waitresses actively avoiding us while we were trying to get their attention, the kitchen forgot about my meal entirely, and when I finally got my dish it was the wrong one. My wife's mee goreng was very salty, almost inedible. I'm no expert, but I've been to the real Singapore twice and the food there was incredible even at the lowliest food stall, so I would suggest that this restaurant is doing something wrong. But I'll concede that maybe they were just having an off-night. Also, it's crowded, so you may have to wait for a table, and it's very noisy, so forget about conversation. The one good thing I can say is that the prices are not bad. For the two of us it came to $25, and the portion size is pretty good. Also, one of the ladies at the table next to us dropped her phone into her soup, which was highly entertaining for a few minutes. It was my first time trying Singaporean food at this restaurant and I was not impress. From the get go, we were standing at the host desk and we can tell the waitress trying to ignore us like no one was stranding there. I understand they were busy but make eyes contact is a doable. I like salty food but my Mee Goreng was really salty, almost uneatable. We chose not to say anything because they were busy and we were hungry. Oh Btw, My partner's food was never come out. As a small chain restaurant, Little Singapore on Charlotte is as good as it's original one at Market Square in Sunnybank. I started dinning at the one in Sunnybank about 4 years ago and since they opened this one on Charlotte Street in Brisbane CBD, I have been a regular customer ever since. The quality of the food and dinning experience is just as good as the original one, slightly better I reckon as this restaurant is bigger in space and better seat arrangement. This restaurant open for both lunch and dinner, try to avoid 12-1pm during weekdays as it can get bit crowded, but thanks to the efficient management, it usally only takes about maximum 10 minutes to get your dish when you ordered your food. Consistant quality keeps this as one of the most popular and decent asian restaurant in Brisbane CBD. When they first opened this restaurant, food quality varies, but they did change the chef and keep the quality as good as it's original one. I never had bad dining experience in the restaurant, instead very good memory about this one, I had my graduation dinner with my besties there, as well as my work dinner there, the owner Richard has always been a good manager for this restaurant, he treated me as his good friend and always give me the best seat even during peak hours. Just to correct the previous review someone made, it is a BYO wine ONLY restaurant, you can possibly sneak beer in, but Vodka..hmmm, if you are lucky:-) It does open till pretty late, not as late as what's on the business profile, around 10:30pm the latest. Recently it brings more dishes onto the menu, but my favourite dish is still their Laksa, and I personally much prefer the chicken only version (which you do need to let the waiter know as this is not the menu). For sure this restaurant is not fine dining, but not as cheap as fast food, don't expect super friendly service, but hey, quality and quantity is guaranteed, if you want to just have a casual quick bite with friends, go for it. A rather average mix of south east Asian food. The chicken rice like most places outside of SEA, the rice is completely wrong. Not sure why it is so hard to make such a simple dish. Drinks are poor. Not authentic. And the best part of Singaporean food is it is cheap. Upselling cheap dishes not done correctly is a bad deal. read more

I frequent this place and I am always happy with the food here. I usually have the KungPo Chicken, though I do have to pick the chillies out of it! But they do add the flavour. The servings are a good size and the prices are very reasonable. The service is always prompt and efficient though the ambience in the restaurant is a tad noisy as it is hugely popular. I really like the decor particularly the booths along each side of the walls though the chairs leave a lot to be desired, very uncomfortable. No doubt I will be impressed when I go again! read more
