US Davis Tahoe City Field Station…read more Came across US Davis Tahoe City Field Station during my 10-day stay at Lake Tahoe for working company retreat. UC Davis holds special place in my heart. Got excited! Returned twice to check it out and take photos. Walked around the native plant demonstration garden, read all the posted info, in support of environmental research, preserving Lake Tahoe natural ecology & education center. "This is the place to explore, discover and learn about what we can do to keep Tahoe blue." Pretty important place, if you ask me! There's an outdoor pathway around the building and the demonstration garden with native plants. It makes sense to go native, because native plants thrive in natural soil and climate without much of a special effort, extra watering, or fertilization with chemicals, plus they are adopted to native pests! Ericsson Education Center is focused on protective and restorative efforts for Lake Tahoe ecology. It was still closed down for COVID when I visited. There's also Bill Combs Memorial Boathouse on the property. He was a prominent Lake Tahoe advocate who served as a board member for various foundations and helped raise funds for Tahoe research and education. The boats and equipment are used to study the root causes of the decline in Lake Tahoe legendary clarity. I would definitely visit again when I'm back in this area. Location: northbound of Tahoe City on Hwy 28 to Dollar Point. I presume they will keep pre-pandemic work hours for indoor exhibits when the field station re-opens: 8am - 6pm Memorial Day through Labor Day. If you prefer a guided tour, they are given on Saturdays 10am - 2pm and could be arranged by calling 775-881-7566 or via email tercinfo@ucdavis.edu. Pictures posted taken on Sunday 6/13/2021. "Aggie Fight Song" Lift up your voices, now's the time to sing This is the day the Victory Bell will ring Loyal Aggies, all for one Never stopping, 'till we've won Because the Mustang will show our team the way to fight, Charging the enemy with all his might Let's go, Let's win, today's the day The Aggies will Fight, Fight, Fight!

I came across SVA (Squaw Valley Acady) while researching for a boarding High School for my nephew…read morein China. I also spent a day there. Students use lap tops during class with wifi access. A lot of emphases is placed on learning with a laptop. . (All wifi are turned off at 11pm at night.). Considering all standardize tests in the US are computerized (MCAT, LSAT) and most work environments in the US use electronic records exclusively, lap top in classroom is a good idea. Students come from all over the world with the goal of attending a college in the US. SVA has transformed itself in the past few years to focus on college prep for international students. Class sizes are small, usually less than 10 students per teacher. I noticed the students get alone with each other rather well. This is observed during lunch time. I see students from different countries sit next to each other. Dorm rooms are 1-4 students per room. Most of the ones I saw have 3 students in them. There is a microwave on each hall, fridge and safe in each room. Overall the rooms are larger than the one I used to live at UC Berkeley 20 years ago. (unit 1 Cheney) and much larger then the tiny rooms at Univ of Tennessee. Washers and dryers are free for students to use. At night, dorm exits have security alarms, hallways are video monitored SVA pride itself at offering a balance between academic and personal development. They encourage students to take advantage of it's location to learn many physical activities Tahoe has to offer - hiking, soccer, golfing, cycling, ski / snowboard. I think this makes SVA different from other college prep school. I have the opportunity to spoke to students there. Due to the many Saturday field trips student take, expect another $4000 or so in additional expenses. While the students like them, parents may be surprised at the bill.

They keep everything clean! Super clean! I get there towards the end of the day sometimes and see some of their cleaning regime and it's beyond thorough, and I don't even see what goes on beyond the scenes! They take the children on wonderful field trips! Just last week they baked cookies and brought them to the local fire department down the street. I have seen them leave for some of the field trips and the adult/teacher to child ratio is perfect. They seem to be right on par with every code I have researched and go above and beyond to make it a fun, safe, and clean learning environment for our kiddos! It is so nerve racking making the right choice of where to send our children for schools, and I believe wholeheartedly that A+ is the right decision for my family and many others! It is the most affordable daycare I have ever encountered and their hours are from 7:30-5:30. I am a single parent and feel so thankful to have such a wonderful school so accessible for my little one!! I looked into many daycares and am so happy with my choice at A+ preschool!!
