This is a review specific to an instructor at this location, Randall Ruback…read more We had a terrible experience with him. After 4 months of lessons I reached out to him to let him know of our timeline for ending lessons. We were stopping when my son started Jazz band at his middle school. The response I received had some information that was out of the blue - that my son was struggling with focus in lessons and playing over him and too loudly. I had never been told any of this feedback previously, so this was a surprise to me. I talked to my son about the feedback and his next lesson was good, however, Randy would not even come out of the room to see me. The next week we showed up for lessons and 10 minutes in I heard Randy yelling in the room, the door opened and Randy was kicking my son out of lessons and yelling at him about playing when he was talking and playing too loudly. He then yelled at him, that if he could listen they could finish the lesson. My son who was visible shaken went back in. I was frozen and didn't know what to do. The lesson finished, Randy came back out and I confronted him about his inappropriate reaction to the situation. I received an extremely defensive response about boundaries and after some back and forth was told if I was not okay with they way he spoke to my son, then he couldn't teach him anymore and we were done after next weeks lesson. We left the store at this point. I went home and sent him an email about the interaction and how it was inappropriate and that we would not be coming to the last lesson. I did not get any acknowledgement to how he was wrong to speak to a child in that way. I pointed out that if there was as big of a problem as he was claiming, he needed to talk to me in person after lessons about any issues rather than bottling his frustrations up and out-bursting like a toddler. He blamed the whole situation on my parenting abilities and told me what my child needed from a medical perspective. He is an emotionally insecure person who cannot control his temper or admit when he has done something inappropriate. We will never go back to him as an instructor and I suggest you avoid him at all costs.

The Kennelly Keys Music on 196th Street Southwest in Lynnwood was our second go-to Kennelly Keys…read morewhen I was growing up. We were required in elementary school to take part in the school band or orchestra for 5th grade with 6th grade optional (I took part both full academic years: 2002 to 2004), so with an older sibling and me, my parents were looking for reliable music stores. There was a Kennelly Keys close to the house, as well as this Kennelly Keys, that we habitually frequented. This was our destination for questions needing further answering and products not available closer to the house. Workers were friendly and the store well organized. When choosing my musical instrument for band, I decided I wanted to play the alto saxophone. My parents were okay with my choice so long as it was not as pricey as my sister's cello. On one of our visits to this location, the store was having a big sale on used instruments and they had a working alto saxophone available for a good deal. So, I got my first alto saxophone that day. I used it for both years and held on to it for a while before eventually parting with it. It worked well and served its purpose reliably.

Repair good, customer service, poor…read more I recently took in a vintage saxophone for repair, clearly stating that I just wanted the instrument made playable. The repair tech indicated that it needed some pads and adjustments for around $400, and I agreed. When I got the sax back the repair work looked good, but the neck cork hadn't been replaced. It was necessary to push the mouthpiece all the way in to get a decent seal, at which point the intonation was ruined. This was definitely not the "playable condition" that I requested. I went back to Kennelly Keys, and stated that I was within their 30-day repair warranty window, and wanted the neck cork fixed as well. The salesclerk told me that the warranty only covered the work performed, and that I'd need to spend another $50 for the neck cork repair. To me this was exactly like taking in your car for repair, getting charged for the work, then upon discovering that the car still didn't run right, being expected to pay still more to make it right. Having come back with a new, slightly different mouthpiece, I agreed to extra cost to get everything right. The neck was recorked and the sax is now playable and tunable. When I then picked up the sax I explained the circumstances in detail to the manager on-site, stating that I wasn't satisfied with the original repair, in that it failed to deliver what I'd requested ... a playable instrument. She was quite receptive (unlike the clerk from the time before), and said that she'd contact the regular manager (I was there on a Saturday), and that someone would contact me the following week to discuss the (reasonable!) possibility of providing some discount for the repair work cost. Unsurprisingly, I received no such call. My takeaway is that while profitability is important, KK decided that having the money was more important than having a satisfied customer. I'd been a patron of KK in Lynnwood for years, but will now be going elsewhere for all future purchases and repair needs.

The Martin Jr in stock was hanging with the other guitars was ready to play & she set me up to try it out. They had a good selection Martin accessories including a good assortment of guitar strings including the Martin brand so I also bought a spare set of the Martin LifeSpan Phosphor Bronze Light strings. I was short on time so did not get a chance to fully take in the ambience & experience of Dan & Sara's music store, but reading up on Crossroads before hand on their website & stepping into their store, I felt the warm embrace of some good vibes, and appreciate their community involvement in local music events in this very charming waterfront town. I like contributing to local businesses so I not only walked away with a very nice Martin acoustic electric guitar, it felt rewarding to give back. I hope to explore more of the Washington peninsula & look forward taking more time visiting Port Townsend & Crossroads Music.

We lots of discipline, we got our tickets and entered the incredible children's museum. You walk into a woodland wonderland and it only gets better from there. We are pretty partial to our home museum in Cincinnati and haven't found a better one but this comes very close. Theres so many interactive areas. There is a treehouse down toward the right when you walk in along with a small town. A walk on airplane that allows kids to work with parcels, a train engine you can walk into with model train set behind. A water station as well as stairs to the outdoor portion with an extensive jungle gym, musical instruments, mini golf, and an excavation site with dinosaurs! They had science exhibits for older kids and younger kids alike. A toddler area as well. You could keep any kid toddler to about 10 years of age entertained for hours. Parking isn't free unless you can snag a coveted spot in front but it's not too pricey. Admission is $22 a person. They have last half hour free during summer which is nice. Staff are dressed in purple and nothing but kind and friendly. There is a cafe at the top (well, a "food truck" theme) and tables and benches to eat. Looked like you could pack your own food. Also looked like you could host birthday parties and field trips. All in all, impressive children's museum. We can't wait to come back!
