It has taken me four years to write this, but I feel compelled to share my experience. I deeply regret enrolling my child in these lessons. At the time, my daughter was 22 months old and would vomit during every single class. Despite following the instruction not to feed her for two hours prior, it continued to happen. The situation came to a head before our final session when the instructor reached out to her manager for assistance because my daughter was struggling to learn, unable to swim to the wall, and frequently sinking. The manager's solution was to offer an extra week of classes at no cost. I refused (I did not ask for a refund) I was rudely told that no money would be returned because she had "learned enough"--a claim that contradicted their own offer of extra lessons. I declined the extra week because the experience was genuinely traumatic for my child; she spent every class crying, sinking, and vomiting. Why would I subject her to more trauma? I sincerely wish I had listened to my intuition and pulled her out immediately. They advertise a "guarantee," but in my experience, it is misleading. Every child learns differently, and this program failed to account for my daughter's needs. read more

This review is long overdue as my kids are almost grown but this was the school that both my kids at 4 years old learned to swim. The location at that time in our lives was perfect, the convenience of their schedule and the young instructors that were caring toward my kids was what made it special for me. My daughter took 2 weeks of classes with Michael (Smiley) and is swimming like a little fish at only 2 years old. I was very happy with Michael and the way he handled my daughter. He was a very professional and effective instructor. My cousin put her daughter with mine for the same two weeks but unfortunately had a less professional and effective instructor so do yourself and your child a favor by requesting Michael (Smiley) or any of the others recommended by name in reviews so that you and your child will have a better experience. My cousin's daughter did learn a lot but likely could have done far better with a different instructor. Their rain policy could definitely stand some improvement as I drove all the way over there only to have them cancel the class after I had gotten there on two separate occasions despite having called and been told that class would go on. They do offer rain checks but it would be best to anticipate the need for one earlier and not have clients waste their time driving over there if the possibility of cancellation is high. Overall Little Swimmers is a good option and I will likely be back in the spring for a refresher class before summer fun begins. read more

My son just completed his two week lessons and he's definitely learned to swim, thats for sure. My son is 2 and half years old and although the first few days were rough for him, by the fourth day he was adjusted to the experience and the instructor. I know for some parents of little ones seeing your child cry and being forced to swim back and forth to the wall can be tough, but it's one of those life experiences they need to go through in order to ensure their safety. In my case, my son walked right into a pool a week before I signed him and and yes, he sank. Zero swimming instinct. I knew it was time to get him into lessons. And I'm very happy I did. I would note that when you call they immediately offer you a two week course but you can opt for one- I learned this while chatting with the other moms on the sidelines. Also, it's best to sit away from your kids as they work with their instructor. Seeing mom, dad, or grandma triggers more crying so be prepared for that. They have a little covered area with benches (which are worse for the ware so be careful sitting on them- they should consider replacing or repairing the one that's broken). Roy was my son's teacher and he was great. He's patient, kind, and silly with the kids. He has a good grip on when to push and when to draw back. Not so sure I can say the same for all the other instructors I saw, but every child is different and presents their own challenges- so I know I shouldn't draw conclusions quickly. Ultimately I'm giving 4 stars due to the broken benches and also the fact that for the first 3 days of so the water was slightly green. When I mentioned something the girls at the desk assured me that the pool was getting treated but the rain was making it hard to balance the pool. Eh. From what I understand having had a pool it only starts to turn green when you're not on top of it. Thankfully after a few days it was fine but that's why I won't give a 5. Dont give it a second thought and book your classes with Little Swimmers. My 3 year old took personal classes with Javier and I couldnt recommend them enough. First few days are rough for all kids but once they get comfortable in the water its amazing how quickly they pick it up. In 3 days he was already swimming to the edge of the pool. His instructor I cant say enough good things about him. He took his time with him, played a little in the water and high fived at all his accomplishments. My son everyday was looking forward to see Javi. Two weeks and he is swimming up a storm. Will be going back to practice his style once he gets more swim time in. Our daughter started Little Swimmers at age 2 in the summer of 2019. Diego, Bella, and Patty were so patient with her when she started. Our daughter cried the entire time for several classes until one day it clicked and she really started enjoying the classes. It truly takes persistence and routine. Little Swimmers is one of the most well known schools. A lot of parents I know have used their services and most have been pleased. I think you need to have real expectations based on what your child is capable of. You can not compare a child that loves the water and is eager to learn to a child that doesn't like to get the hair wet. My daughter has done (3) two week rounds of little swimmers in her three years of life, always two weeks before summer starts. First year: Alvaro. He was amazing. She learned quickly and loved him. She cried day 1 and 2, by day 3, all smiles. He no longer teaches, sadly. Second year: Joel. My daughter also loved him. Because a year had passed since she last did a class, she was sort of starting from scratch. However, she was not afraid of water, as she had done classes before. Both times, she learned how to swim from center of pool to edge in just two weeks. They would also throw her in, and she would, on own, swim to edge. Today, we started the third round with Luis. I just met him, but he seems good. I will give feedback after our two weeks are over. My #1 piece of advice (one I should follow), is to practice with the kids here and there. They tend to forget, if you wait a year in between like I did. At least that's my experience. Again, even spacing them out, my daughter could defend herself in water, but she did lose many of the skills she learned. Definitely needs refresher yearly. Reason I kept a star? Bathrooms are disgusting. I understand that they share restrooms with golf course, but wow. Today I walked into the restroom (location near 104) and vomited. There was no air conditioning, dead bugs everywhere, they looked as if they haven't been cleaned in years. Considering that there is no other restroom for kids/parents, they should do their best to keep the one they share, looking better. This needs to be addressed. read more

This was a horrible experience and a huge waste of money. My four-year-old daughter is now petrified of the water. because they make promises that I can't keep, instructor George held her head down in the water causing her to breathe in water several times. When asked about it, he tells me she is progressing too slowly and my daughter is defiant with a strong personality. I asked to switch instructors but the rain caused them to cancel several sessions. I've left messages to reschedule but no response. My daughter cries at the mention of swimming lessons and won't go anywhere near water without clinging to me. I decided to try Little Swimmers in Homestead (no Yelp page yet) and I am so glad I did. I previously had my daughter at another swim school that does group classes and to be honest she learned nothing. After two summers of classes there, I decided to make a change. My daughter was assigned Ms. Morgan and what a gem she is. She has such grace and patience with my little one. She is doing so well and I have extended the private lessons by a week because of it. Manny the manager is so attentive to all the children and great at what he does. Ben, the youngest instructor, is so great with the youngest kids. I've seen kids under the age of two swim better than my own husband after two weeks with him. Truly every instructor I mentioned are amazing and amazing to the kids. Had our 20 month old daughter do 2 weeks with Arnaldo and we were pleased overall. The instructor was great with her and had a lot of patience. Only negative was a bit disorganized with the protocols when it rains. They told us to call 30 minutes before one day, to not waste a trip since it was rainy and thundering nearby, but then nobody answered the phone after several calls. They told us to just show up from then on, regardless of rain since they are very busy with calls when it rains. They did make up the session though. I would just think they have a clear message for people about rain, since it must happen all the time in Miami. read more

Horrible experience!!!!! They took my then 3yr old daughter and basically dumped her in the pool and made her swim to the edge. She swallowed so much water she vomitted. Needless to say, she didn't go after the first "lesson" - when I tried to get my money back, they wanted to give me a credit for future lessons. I told them forget it and to keep the money, as they may need it for legal fees when another parent will eventually sue them! She's now 6.5yrs old and still remembers the terror she felt. I took my 3 year old daughter here after many attempts in getting her to like the water. We would take her to the pool and she wouldn't go in deeper than her belly button. We tried those public courses they have at local city parks. Can't beat the price right? Wrong! The classes were group classes and the instructors weren't serious. Some were clowning around with each other or they just couldnt give everyone equal amounts of attention. I remembered from the previous year a friend recommending this place called Little Swimmers. Unfortunately, there weren't any classes in my city, but I was willing to make the drive if they were worth it.....and they totally were. One on one classes. Awesome instructors. Super nice and patient both in person and over the phone. The first day the instructor had my daughter in the water. No tears, no whinning, just having fun. We would even get an occasional "thumbs up" from her. By the first week, yes ONE week, she was sticking her head in the water and would swim a short distance to the edge. She would jump in without hesitation. We extended the course another week and then added a few maintenance classes and she is swimming all on her own! I am so thankful for this school and the instructors, in 5 days my little ones went from sitting on the steps of the pool terrified to go under water to what is most important to me: survival skills!!!! We have been coming Here got the past 3 years. Every summer I schedule 2 weeks per kid. We have had as our instructors Javier,Roy,and Cristof (I hope I spelled that right , sorry :) ). I was very surprised to see one bad review , again....we have been coming here for 3 years and have witnessed nothing but patient, very kid friendly environment and instructors. There is a shaded area for parents to wait while the little fish is splashing away. They have group, mommy & me, and one to one lessons. I recommend the one to one lessons. We tried the mommy & me lessons in the past in another school (which shall remind nameless) and personally I feel the kids respond better to an instructor because with parents near by they act out. Also I heard some of the parents also took lessons, yes adults can join also. It's owned by a firefighter and all instructors are trained in CPR. They have several locations, and are very accommodating with times. Best money spent ever! read more

My son has attended about 7 weeks of one on one instruction here over 3 summers. at 1 1/2 he did one week, just to get acclimated to the water. It was very difficult for him as he cried the entire time. The instructor was excellent and worked with him well. The next summer at 2 1/2 he did 4 weeks with Roy. The first 2 weeks were difficult. He cried a lot. By the end of the 4 weeks he had really gotten the hang of it and was swimming quite well with strong kicking. He could turn around if falling in from the edge facing away from the edge, and could swim a good 4 to 5 feet. This past summer at 3 1/2 he did 2 weeks. He learned to swim freestyle and could swim at least 10 feet unaided. Shortly after finishing we were swimming at a friend's house and he jumped in and swam the short length of the pool (15 feet) unaided. I was shocked, but very happy. We plan on taking him back next summer to work with Roy at least 2 more weeks. My son loves Roy and has talked about him all year in anticipation of going back in the summer. We plan on taking our daughter as well this summer to do 3 or 4 weeks. She will be just over 2 yrs old at that time. read more

Absolutely love the experience my 3 year old and is have had with little swimmers. They repetition of coming every weekday and the approach they take ensures you will be swimming in 10 days. This was our second summer enrolling our (now 6-year-old son) at Little Swimmers for 3 reasons: (1) they have a tendency to forget some of what they initially learn; (2) we wanted him to learn more, and become a more advanced swimmer; (3) he just loved the experience so much, swimming easily became his #1 passion right away. Last summer when we decided it was time for him to learn how to swim, we searched for ever before finding Little Swimmers. WHAT A BLESSING! One of their locations (they have 5 now - including a heated pool off Killian Parkway) turned out to be at the Miccosukee Golf Club -- 3 minutes from our house. This was a no-brainer, as they had some of the highest, most consistent ratings for child swim lessons in South Florida since their inception. And it didn't take long for us to understand why. Over the two summers we have worked with pretty much all the instructors there. They are all wonderful, caring individuals that have your children's best interest at heart. They also have a ton of experience working with all sorts of different children at all different ages - including those with special needs such as ADHD (like mine), Down Syndrome, Autism, etc. - and adapting to their needs as necessary. Front staff is also great. Spacious, shaded outdoor seating. Everybody treats you like family which is an added benefit. They do guarantee that your child will learn how to swim after the initial set of lessons (which basically means able to swim to the edge of the pool and save themselves in the event of an accidental fall...it's peace of mind but you can't put a price tag on it). Prices are more than reasonable when you compare against other swim lessons and formats in South Florida. We were quite aggressive with lessons for our son - and 2 summers in a row. All-in-all we spent $1,100. For the first summer that included an initial 10-day course (guaranteeing his ability to swim) + 8 sessions of maintenance classes spread out over 4 additional weeks. For the second summer he started with an initial 5-day course (skills assessment, since he went almost a year without swimming) + 3 maintenance packages (total of 22 sessions/classes). In other words, we spent $1,100 over 2 summers, for a total of 45 classes, each classes 1/2 hour in duration. Our son is now a confident swimmer who does cherry bombs into the pool, dives 9 feet deep and grabs objects off the floor of the pool, swims with kids bigger and older than him for hours at a time, jumps off platforms, and enjoys being tossed and thrown in every direction imaginable. Swimming is now easily his favorite activity, we found a way to keep him entertained (and cool) during the hot summer months, and in all honesty we would most likely have spent the same money (if not more) keeping him busy doing something else over 2 summers. If I could give this place 6 stars I would. If you're thinking about enrolling your child here, don't second-guess yourself. You can't put a price tag on peace of mind. I am so grateful for little swimmers, my son Taylor had a rough start he was 1 1/2 when we started. The 1st week was tough for me, having to sit away from him and having him in the pool with someone I had just met. But let me tell you something the owners of Little Swimmers are both fire fighters & almost every instructor they have working for them, at one point were students themselfs. I have a pool at my home and felt it was more than important to make sure my son knew how to swim. The 1 st week he was not to thrilled in going, I ma not going to lie they do dunk your child and have thenm swim to the edge, but when they thenmseklves realize what they just did its amazing,. His instructor wold count down my son knew that when he got to 3 he was going under and letting go, that he had to do all that he was taught which was extend your arms and kick to the edge. Now I want to make it clear yes, the instructor lets go, but is literally right there with your child . ALL the instructors men or women are so loving towards every child, when they see a student that is having a hard time they hold them and waddle in the water for a minute they softly speak into your childs ear, calming them & explain that they need to try again, and at times even though stilla little scared I have not seena chid that does not follow threw. I love these guys they have helped my son and a ton of his friends. I was reffered to them by my sons MyGym Instructor of which all of her children learned threw them as well. My son is now 3 1/2 and we are signed up again for this year, he loves it & I will continue to take him until I feel that he knows all that he needs to klnow. My son swims very well but just like everything in life it does not hurt to have a refresher course now and again, He does well when we are with him in the water, but he stikl does not venture out on his own, I will continue to go until I see that my son is comfortable jumping in and out on his own, (Not that he would ever be allowed to go swimming on his own,at this age). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND "LITTLE SWIMMERS" SWIM SCHOOL! Taking my toddlers to Little Swimmers was one of the BEST decisions I have made as a parent! By the end of your child's first 2 week survival swim class, you'll feel the same way! I took my 2 year old there last year and she was able to swim within 2 weeks! So this year, I took my 18 month old there, and she was able to swim within 5 days! By the end of the 2 weeks, you can literally throw your child into the pool and they will be able to swim to the wall and even climb out on their own. I think the school guarantees this (which I don't think traditional swim classes can do). Survival swimming is so important for babies and toddlers to know, especially in South Florida! Your kids may cry, or act like they don't want to go to swim class during the first week (as mine did), but stick with it, because by the last day of the class, they'll love it! I also brought my, now three year old, to do a refresher course to expand her swim skills beyond the survival mode. This was a good experience too. All the instructors we had are calm, patient, AND THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! So it's ok, you'll be able to fully watch your child's lesson, but you don't have to be in the pool nor should you be near the pool because you need to give the instructors room to work their magic. I am eternally grateful to little swimmers for teaching my 5 year old son Andy how to swim. We relocated recently from up north to South Florida. Up north swimming is not a priority due to the short summers, but once we moved here everyone told us it is an absolute necessity. Boy were they right!!! All school and play date activities usually involve the pool. You always hear on the news of some child drowning in a pool. So after talking to everyone about where the best instructor would be, a mother in my son's school recommended Little Swimmers. I am so glad. I registered my son for the 2 week private lessons and his instructor was Rebecca. We so loved her!!!! She explained to me, everything that was going to happen ahead of time. I knew what to expect. Her easy going and friendly personality was just what my son needed to feel comfortable with her. Don't get me wrong, there was quite a bit of crying and screaming the first two days. But, Rebecca's re-assurance and kind persistence was all he needed. She was not deterred by his negotiating tactics. She would just patiently re-assure him that he could do it and continued the lesson. She also made it fun for him. My son went from not being able to EVER have his hair get the slightest bit wet and NEVER submerging his head below water to jumping in the deep end of the pool and swimming to the wall by the end of the first week!! After his two weeks were over he was swimming!!! We went on vacation and he loved being able to enjoy himself in the pool and beach. When we got back, we had to make up a class due to bad weather and we wanted him to learn more techniques so we registered him for two more weeks with Rebecca, because we loved her so much. He then learned to turn around and float, the backstroke, the butterfly, the breaststroke and how to swim with fins too. Boy, does he love his fins!! Now, he never wants to get out of our pool at home. We are so very grateful to Rebecca for literally saving our son's life. That's what this is really about. We can't thank you enough. If you are thinking about sending your child to Little Swimmers, don't look elsewhere. The owners are professional and the instructors know what they are doing. Best money we ever spent! worst experience ever, i'll spare you the details, but if you are a hopping that your kid will come out of there swimming, you are in for a huge dissapointment, all that bull crap they sell you that if your kid doesn't learn how to swim they'll continue with him until he does is all a lie, after they are done with your kid they'll make up a whole bunch of crap so you'll leave believing that your kid is good to go, bottom line, my son is more afraid of simming now than before becuase on top of everything he is frustated and sad that after everything he went thru he still doesnt know how to swim, and believe me, my son is a hell of a fast learner, ecxcept for alvaro, who was a very nice guy and tried to repair some of the damage, i left with a very sour taste of everyone else, worst investement ever!! read more
