I've been here dozens of times and keep coming back for more! Located just off Historic Route 1, in…read moreLadysmith, Virginia, sits the home of a sweet little tearoom named Cuppa Cheer. A welcoming sign invites you inside a peaceful nook where tea and conversation flow in equal measure. This cottage-style tearoom is designed with sage and rose floral chintz curtains, white laced tablecloths and parasols suspended from the ceiling for a whimsical flair. Owner, Terrie, wanted her tearoom to be appealing but not too frilly. She nailed it. Offering old-world hospitality, her tearoom is casual and cozy. She also is a force of nature when it comes to supporting the community and local artists, crafters, writers, and tea lovers! Depending on your appetite, the tea menu provides plenty of options from a "Spot of Tea", a pot of tea, two scones and fruit to the "Dilly-Dally Tea" which includes two pots of tea, four scones both savory and sweet, tea sandwiches, fruit, cheese, crudités, pastries and petite desserts. With the set menu changing monthly, you may be served such delightful tea sandwiches as cherry-walnut cream cheese, lavender chicken salad, avocado egg salad, carrot raisin sweet sandwich, tuna baby-pea crostini and the classic cucumber and cream cheese. The savory scones may include spring onion and cheddar while the sweet selection may be a peach cobbler scone. If you are lucky, you may come in time for the strawberry cupcakes and the homemade chocolate fudge. We enjoyed every morsel and the service was superb! Whatever treats are on the menu, it's always appetizing! Tea drinkers won't be overwhelmed with an extensive tea menu. Terrie thoughtfully offers a selection of about fifteen choices ranging from classic teas like Earl Grey and English Breakfast to green teas, herbal and fruit teas, oolong teas and chai teas. There's a tea for every taste! It's Earl Grey for me! After tea, be sure to enjoy shopping in Cuppa Cheer's corner gift shop. Filled with not only tea caddies, teacups, teapots and books, this shop is also brimming with hand-crafted items such as greeting cards, tea cozies, tea coasters, jewelry, wreaths and more. You may even find an elegant hat that suits your fancy. Be sure to browse around the tearoom dotted with tasteful tea décor and take a gander at the tea chandelier and the teacup quilt both hanging in the craft room. My Cuppa Cheer runneth over!

I'm going to start with I've visited this place twice and had two totally different experiences. A…read morecouple years ago we brought our Girl Scout troop and it was very lovely. Clean and the food was wonderful. Unfortunately we did not have that experience this time. I'll also add the host had recently had surgery and I'm unsure if that played a role in our experience. Our list of issues is long. The room was not set up for our reservation, it felt dusty and cluttered, the tables had crumbs on it, tea cups and the plates had a mix of dust and this black crusty stuff, and she just kept interrupting my daughter's 16th birthday celebration. This mostly because the room wasn't already prepared for the start of our party time. She kept having to bring in stuff and interrupting our conversations and made it awkward. My daughter is autistic, this matters because the host kept touching her shoulder every time she walked past her. I asked for the cake because after an hour of this we decided we don't need the other hour. Instead of leaving us be with the cake I brought the host decided to start singing happy birthday before I had the candle lite and while my daughter was opening her gifts. While I get she is the host I didn't not expect to have her insert herself in our party sooo much. Again our first time was nothing like this, but it's sad to book a 2 hour party and pay for 12 people only to have stale and sour food. Egg salad sandwiches were greenish. We are not rude people so we took the leftovers she packed and tossed it away when we made it to McDonalds. I'm guessing we paid almost $350 and got the crapshoot of a bad day...

Awesome hand lotions, hair perfumes, Turkish towels (I got a great grape [okay, just plain purple] and pink one that's got teal on the other side -- just beautiful and so soft, ooh, what luxury! Turkish towels are awesome because they take up less space and dry far more quickly than other, thicker towels, so of course they end up both smelling much better and being a lot more hygienic. The orange-scented hand lotion is super-luxe, too, with a rich creamy feel and excellent scent. I got the amber hair perfume. The rugs are really nice, with just enough texture balanced together with softness and sturdiness all together in one piece -- and there is an amazing selection of different colours of these area rugs available, all rolled up nicely in a cool basket. Speaking of baskets, they've got them! The baskets have a real beachy vibe and would be perfect for a day (or a week, or more!) at the beach. They're real sturdy and stand up well on their own, unlike some other floppier baskets or of course beach bags out there .... The baskets are also really good for shopping, too. There are cookbooks, fun cooking and cleaning supplies such as the never-before-seen-by-me ravioli-shaped sponges and oh-so-many things to explore, I wouldn't want to ruin it for you by telling you more! The person I encountered was super-helpful, friendly, nice, accommodating, etc. The parking is plentiful (At least it was when I was there.), and if you like pretty, flowery things, there is also a lovely gardening center just steps away ... plus lots of other stuff nearby to explore in Kensington! Very glad I stopped by! Only thing is: it's closed on Mondays. Oh, and I love the name, too! Olive & Loom -- even the name has texture and beauty in it .... A very 'Yay' type of find, indeed! Just lovely. :-)
